Highborder Lodge has a very high standard of care. The staff are very professional and are always helpful and cheerful. Nothing is too much trouble and they treat all the residents with respect and kindness. This is a happy home.

My mother enjoyed her time here. Pre-Covid, she would go out in the minibus to a pub for lunch, visit a garden centre, take a trip to the canal for coffee and cake etc. This was great for Mum as her previous home never did anything to stimulate their residents. Inside the home, there was entertainment, quizzes, word games, music afternoons, film afternoons (with Popcorn!), even Bingo with prizes. Entertaining talks were available, I was actually visiting one day and the talk was on bees;- fascinating talk. It's a well run home with fabulous staff. They are caring, hardworking and very loving towards the residents, treating them as family. My mum loved the banter between the more "cheeky" ones, all good fun! The gardens are inviting to sit out on warmer days or the staff take the residents, (some in wheelchairs, some walking) around the surrounding area, past the farm, to the church. All in all, a comfortable 'homely' home for loved ones who need extra care.

A huge thank you to management and staff for the care and kindness shown to my friend since she moved into the home two and half years ago. I know how difficult it has been for you all during this pandemic and appreciate the continued conversations and decisions made during the last year.

Very warm welcome. My uncle was delighted to move in: first class care, excellent garden, staff very kind and helpful. After over 18 months, he is so pleased with his decision to move there.

Claire Thomas
Claire ThomasJob Title:ManagerJoined: 2026

My name is Claire, and I joined Highborder Lodge in Jan 2026. I have worked in health and social care for a number of years in a variety of leadership and clinical roles, and am very passionate about providing safe, compassionate, and person-centred care. Throughout my career, I’ve always believed that high-quality care comes from strong teams, good communication, and genuinely knowing the people we support as individuals.

My focus as Registered Manager is to ensure the home is a place where our residents feel safe and valued, families feel listened to and reassured, and staff feel supported, confident, and proud of the care they provide. I believe in being visible, approachable and working alongside the team, so you will see me around the home regularly.

I have a young son who keeps me very busy and grounded, and I really value family time. I feel this helps me bring empathy, understanding and balance into my role as your Registered Manager. In my spare time, we really enjoy being outdoors, hill walks and building dens!

If you would like to know more about our home and the facilities we offer, please don't hesitate to get in touch, or simply call in and join us for a slice of cake and a cup of tea.
