A very happy positive attitude from all staff looking after my Dad. Always doing the best they can for him. He couldn’t be in a better place, especially during the pandemic. Very accommodating towards my brother and myself throughout a very challenging time.

The Old Vicarage has caring and conscientious staff. The management are always helpful and respond quickly to emails and phone calls. The home itself is very clean, warm and comfortable. Its position by St Andrews Church and near the river is very pleasant. My mother has been very happy living there.

My mother (94) has lived at The Old Vicarage for 3 years and from the beginning regarded it as her new home. She has always been very capable and independent until Alzheimer's made it impossible for her to continue living alone. The staff completely understand this and treat my Mum with the utmost kindness
and respect. She loves them all! During this pandemic, they have gone out of their way to help us stay in close contact with Mum through VSee calls to her screen and by printing our emails. Mum has 6 children, 4 living in the UK and 2 of us living abroad so this is particularly important during these challenging times when she cannot have visitors. But nothing has been too much trouble and we know she could not be better taken care of. Thank you to everyone at The Old Vicarage for continuing to help my Mum live the best life she can.

Excellent care and attention, used for my mother for a respite stay whilst family on holiday, but have also used in the past for my father in law. Would have no hesitation in recommending The Old Vicarage, lovely staff, attentive and kind. An outstanding service.

My mother was a resident for 11 years, and who died at the beginning of November aged 106. The care and support given by the management and staff at The Old Vicarage is second to none. In her last days, the care and dignity afforded to her was outstanding.

I have been visiting as a friend from the local church for the last 6 years. The staff are kind and very caring of the residents. The owner's attitude towards the residents is excellent in every way. The residents enjoy a lovely selection of food and fruit. The residents are full of praise for The Old
Vicarage. One lady of 99 says often she is so glad she is there. My main friend I visit will be 106 years old at the end of the month. The way the staff care for he is exemplary. I regularly recommend this home for others I know who are growing old.

My friend's stay at the Old Vicarage proved to be shorter than anticipated due to his failing health in the last two months of his life. However, I cannot thank the management and staff enough for their continuing concern and the welfare given to him. His treatment, particularly in the last month of
his life, was over and above what one could hope for. The home was a friendly, comfortable place to live in.

Very pleasant, caring atmosphere, clean, very friendly staff.
All the staff helpful and up to date with my mother's needs and requirements.
The whole home seems to be run to a very high standard and there is always someone around to answer questions or to talk to whenever I need to speak to somebody.
The
place doesn't smell like an "old persons home" like most do.
Very well done.

My dear friend lived at The Old Vicarage for 25 years.
She was always singing their praises and was always happy, well looked after.
They helped her through some very difficult times and were dedicated to providing her with the best care.
She loved the owners and staff as much as they loved her.
A
very special place run by some very special people.

A lovely family atmosphere. Lovely, patient, caring staff. My elderly Mum is very happy. Moving from living independently alone in her own house to a care home can be very challenging. The staff have managed the transition very well.

Very apprehensive about my friend moving into a care home but The Old Vicarage is more than a care home, it's a home. The staff and proprietors care about the residents and are always willing to help and have their best interests at heart. My Friend is so happy and wishes she had made the move earlier,
what she likes is that it's in a quiet area but in the centre of town, so going out is so easy. Other residents are not confused and wandering around and the menu is so variable. Everything is just perfect for her. Thank you The Old Vicarage.

My mother decided suddenly that she wanted to move into a care home in the area. When she visited The Old Vicarage she was immediately attracted by the welcoming staff, the presence of the owner and his family, the homely feel of the place and the large, clean and airy room. Staff helped her settle
in quickly and drew up a comprehensive plan that they share and update regularly. She enjoys the food, the activities and the freedom she has in a warm and caring environment. Whenever we call, her room is always clean and tidy. The staff are excellent. We have no complaints at all.

Small family run care home, great feel and good care offered. Central location, and run with a family feel. Excellent! would recommend to anyone, out of 60 care homes looked at in the Chippenham/Calne/Corsham area this was the one that stood out.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.543)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.543) out of 10 for The Old Vicarage is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.843 for The Old Vicarage is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.843
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old Vicarage is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
