My mother decided suddenly that she wanted to move into a care home in the area. When she visited The Old Vicarage she was immediately attracted by the welcoming staff, the presence of the owner and his family, the homely feel of the place and the large, clean and airy room. Staff helped her settle in quickly and drew up a comprehensive plan that they share and update regularly. She enjoys the food, the activities and the freedom she has in a warm and caring environment. Whenever we call, her room is always clean and tidy. The staff are excellent. We have no complaints at all.
Small family run care home, great feel and good care offered. Central location, and run with a family feel. Excellent! would recommend to anyone, out of 60 care homes looked at in the Chippenham/Calne/Corsham area this was the one that stood out.
A lovely, friendly and family-run care home for which I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone. The location, by the River Avon, is quiet and peaceful with a lovely garden for the use of residents and visitors. My Father enjoyed his short walk (5mins) into the town centre which is pedestrianised with all the main facilities you would need.
My Mother liked the home from day one and it is growing on her more and more. She likes her room and every meal served, also particularly where it is served, claiming she feels like it is a baronial dinner every day!
The owner is very accommodating looking after the people in the home and his staff are the most friendly and assisting you could hope for.
There is a large garden backing onto a river which is accessible with tea and biscuits available to visitors should they wish to visit their relatives.
On the whole the feeling is of comfort, compassion and homeliness with the added expertise in how the owner and staff conduct themselves.
I recommend this care home unreservedly.
Lovely warm safe and caring environment with staff easy to talk to and who listen. Bright airy rooms and beautiful gardens are an added bonus to the homely atmosphere created by everyone working here.
My mother has been resident at the Vicarage for a few months and seems happy there and staff always seem keen to meet her needs and ensure she is well cared for. Her room is comfortable and the home itself presents as well maintained and very comfortable.
Staff pleasant and helpful, flat is adequate for her limited needs although Mum is a bit isolated in her flat due to its position. Owners are caring and always find time for a chat, unfortunately Mum is unable to use some facilities due to her condition which has slowly worsened over the years, however she does enjoy the activities she is able to attend.
I am so grateful to the owners and staff at The Old Vicarage for the love, care and support that they have provided my mum and ourselves during the emotional transition to her new home. Mum has settled into The Old Vicarage more quickly and successfully than I had dared to hope. We know that we can call with any concerns, and that they will be addressed.
Excellent standard, room, service, food, staff all very good. Well organised with all medication as well.
The owners and staff could not have been kinder to my aunt in the last month of her life. It was very important to her to stay in the Old Vicarage rather than go into hospital.
Very kind patient staff. Feels like a hotel not clinical. Good home cooked food. Clients stay in their rooms and come out when they wish for meals, tea activities. My mother has a lovely room with own furniture. She loves the dog who comes to her room and lies on her bed with her. Family business, children and family mix with residents. All of my family love this home and are so grateful for it.
I have been at "The Old Vicarage" for seven years and have never regretted leaving my home in Kent where I had lived and was happy for 95 years. My husband died when I was 70 years old, we had both taken part in all that went on in the area especially the church. After my husband died I still continued with those interests. I came to "The Old Vicarage" to be near my family. I have one daughter and son-in-law two grandsons and their partners, two great grandchildren.
Before I came to above home I was housebound for two years plus hospital treatment stay to help get weight down 27 stone. Since I came I've had my own room, carer and buzzer in case I need help. Carer checks you over for sores or any problems. We have fresh food cooked each day. Exercise class, poetry writing class and bingo. You can go out if you are safe to do so. Meeting with owners if you need a private talk and they do that in your room. All washing done and you tell them when you come in the food you like or dislike. Everyone who works here has one standard total loving care.
Very happy with the service here.
