My sister has been resident in Kingsmead for almost six years, and though there have been three changes of management during this time, my sister has been nursed with consistent care and expertise. Though physically unable to participate in the activities of the home, I find in every visit, a happy
atmosphere and always something planned for those able to participate. Communication from the care and nursing staff is always good, and I have no hesitation in recommending Kingsmead as a well-run, professional establishment.

My daughter too me to see my friend and as I was diagnosed with Dementia, my daughter cares for me. I have told her if I ever get so bad and need to go into a home I want to come to Kingsmead. I am so impressed in what I see when I go and see my friend.
The care they give to all patients are great.
The
staff are truly amazing.

Me and my mother (who also has the start of Dementia) came to see her best friend. I was so surprised on how wonderful the staff were and how they truly care so much for their patients. I was that impressed that if ever one day I need to place one of my loved ones into a care home this place will definitely
be the one. I have been to other care homes in Swindon and this by far is one of the best in Swindon area.

My father was very well looked after at Kingsmead. He was treated with dignity and respect - even when he was doing things that were not the easiest to deal with. The staff ensured that my Dad had what he needed and went out of their way to make him comfortable. They were even able to provide bespoke
meals to him when eating became more difficult. I always received a warm welcome from the staff when I visited, and overall the care has been excellent. Thank you to everyone at Kingsmead.

I feel so comfortable going back to Spain, after moving my father to Kingsmead for palliative care. The staff were reassuring, and I could tell by the atmosphere at the home, they were very caring. They look time to find out what was important to my dad. I'm back after a week and found that, my initial
thoughts have all been proved correct. I could not wish for better at this end of life stage for my father.

Das has been well cared for since being looked after by Kingsmead Care Home from August 2024. He had dementia and is unable to care for himself. The team at Kingsmead provide an excellent care package and are willing to go an 'extra mile' to ensure he has the best possible care for his condition. The
staff always have a smile even when he is pushing them away even though he needs their support. They understand his needs and are professional, supportive and above all very patient with him and his care.

I come up regularly to see my mum and always get a good welcome from all staff. I see all the activities on social media. I think they do a brilliant job the activities staff. Some of the videos are so funny and they get all residents joining in. I know my mum especially likes to go swimming. Keep up
the good work as you all do a brilliant job.

Staff were all lovely and helpful. They always made me feel welcome and looked after my husband well, while he was in the home. It was always lovely when the entertainment team provided fun and games. Really pleased with everything the home and staff did for my husband and myself. Would recommend
the home to anyone who needs care.

All the family are so pleased that Mum has settled in well at Kingsmead and this is due in no small part to all the carers that look after her. She has taken to them so well and enjoys the company. The care home provides lots of activities not only at the home but also taking the patients to the wildlife
park and the hydrotherapy pool. Mum has settled in so much better than we could have hoped. Thank you Kingsmead.

The home is lovely, clean and filled with amazing carers.
There's always has so much going on for the residents.
Everyone is always super helpful but I what stands out the most to me in the activities. There is always something for the residents to do, especially in the run up to Christmas they have
a whole selection of things to get up to.
Well done to the team.

My late sister's husband (my brother-in-law) entered Kingsmead very reluctantly in April 2019 for a trial of two weeks to see if he liked it. After the first week, he asked when he could go home but at the end of the trial period with the help and attention he received from the staff he had settled.
So the next four years until his passing on April 27 2024 he was surrounded by residents and staff that made his final years a real joy so I cannot speak highly enough of the care and attention he received.

The staff at Kingsmead were amazing from their manager down. They were aware of our previous bad experience with my grandfather's care at the hospital and wholeheartedly took on board our concerns with his condition. They provided amazing care and preserved his dignity throughout his time there. My
mum and I will be eternally grateful for them all as they supported us more than I think even they realised.

Always found staff very friendly and caring and Mum settled very quickly and never seemed distressed or in pain, despite her serious health conditions. The manager always had time to chat and was very approachable. Felt confident that Mum was in safe hands and needs were being met. Was only able to
visit sporadically so can't comment in detail on items such as food and activities. Room was large and area, but furnishings heavy and outdated. Overall, very happy with the care she received in last 6 months.

So very impressed with the team at Kingsmead Care Home. They looked after my late father and now my Aunt. A real positive energy throughout the whole team and the management is very hands-on. The activities team work so hard to engage and entertain the residents. As a relative of a resident I have real
confidence knowing my Aunt is in great care. Thanks so much to the management, the activities team and all the nursing, care and supporting teams at the home, I can't thank you all enough and in awe of what you do. Thank you.

I wanted to recognise the management, activity team and all the staff at Kingsmead. They are very caring, engaging and supportive and really go the extra mile to look after their residents. Recently the team took my Aunt and other residents into the Town Gardens to celebrate Easter, just one example

My father has been a resident here at Kingsmead for a couple of months now. The staff are very friendly and professional and have a compassionate approach to his care. I am very grateful to the manager for persevering with my constant phone calls whilst I was looking for somewhere who could support
my dad's care needs when others could not. My father is happy and settled and knowing he has the care and support I can relax a little.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.664)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.664) out of 10 for Kingsmead Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.689 for Kingsmead Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (158 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 222 Ratings = 4.689
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kingsmead Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
