Always found staff very friendly and caring and Mum settled very quickly and never seemed distressed or in pain, despite her serious health conditions. The manager always had time to chat and was very approachable. Felt confident that Mum was in safe hands and needs were being met. Was only able to visit sporadically so can't comment in detail on items such as food and activities. Room was large and area, but furnishings heavy and outdated. Overall, very happy with the care she received in last 6 months.

So very impressed with the team at Kingsmead Care Home. They looked after my late father and now my Aunt. A real positive energy throughout the whole team and the management is very hands-on. The activities team work so hard to engage and entertain the residents. As a relative of a resident I have real confidence knowing my Aunt is in great care. Thanks so much to the management, the activities team and all the nursing, care and supporting teams at the home, I can't thank you all enough and in awe of what you do. Thank you.

I wanted to recognise the management, activity team and all the staff at Kingsmead. They are very caring, engaging and supportive and really go the extra mile to look after their residents. Recently the team took my Aunt and other residents into the Town Gardens to celebrate Easter, just one example of the care and consideration the whole team have for their residents. Thank you.

My father has been a resident here at Kingsmead for a couple of months now. The staff are very friendly and professional and have a compassionate approach to his care. I am very grateful to the manager for persevering with my constant phone calls whilst I was looking for somewhere who could support my dad's care needs when others could not. My father is happy and settled and knowing he has the care and support I can relax a little.

The staff were always friendly and helpful and I feel my dad got the best care the whole time he was there, I also always felt you could turn up and expect the same high standards. It was nice to know my dad was in such good hands and I would like to thank all of the staff for the care they gave, so thank you so much.

Dad was transferred to Kingsmead Care Home from the hospital in mid-June. He was in a very poor state and was not expected to survive for very long. Since he has been there he has improved so much. He has had visits from a physiotherapist and occupational therapist, as well as a dietician, and a range of other professionals. He receives excellent care from all of the staff, who really think about his individual needs. From being bed-bound to drinking from a beaker, he is now up and about and able to feed himself; The future is much brighter for him. I highly recommend this care home, the staff are amazing and we can't thank them enough.

My mother was a resident for almost 3 years having become increasingly frail, blind and profoundly deaf she was initially reluctant about leaving her home and entering Kingsmead however after about 10 days she settled happily and adapted to the atmosphere and ambience of Kingsmead.

During her final illness, she was treated with great kindness, dignity and sensitivity. This made her passing so much more bearable for all the family.

My father, who is 89 and has dementia, jas been in the home for nearly 3 years. He is now receiving end-of-life care. The care he has received has been very good and he has appeared happy throughout his stay at Kingsmead. The activities for the residents are very good and having video calls during the lockdowns was invaluable when I could not visit my dad. Overall, the home is very well run and the care is excellent.

My father moved to Kingsmead Care Home on discharge from hospital for assessment in January 2021 having been previously in other care homes. At the end of his assessment, he was settled and we wished for him to stay at Kingsmead. With both my mum and dad having dementia I have experienced care in 4 different homes in the past 2 and a half years. It is evident that it is not necessarily the newest or the best facilities which is the best for care. Kingsmead is not the fanciest or able to provide the most up to date facilities but the care and communication has been fantastic for my dad. On two further occasions Dad has needed hospital stays and we have been told that the news is bad and to be prepared for the worst. Both times Kingsmead have said 'get him back here and we will sort him out and he will be ok'. Both times they have done that. Dad is still improving and going strong. I can sleep at night knowing that my dad is being well cared for at Kingsmead. What more could we want as a family.

My wife has been resident in Kingsmead for over four years and she is being extremely well cared for. The staff are caring, respectful and professional and always take time to speak with family members during visits. The manager is approachable and deals with any issues in a prompt manner. If I was not entirely happy with the care my wife is getting she would not be in this home!

My Dad passed away just six days after his stay at Kingsmead. We felt compelled to withdraw him because he was so lonely and unhappy in this care home. My Dad was placed in the dementia ward even though the dementia team certified he didn't have dementia. Sadly, this meant that he suffered constant interruption by dementia residents wandering into his room in a very confused state and distressing my Dad.
Some of Dad's carers were lovely and genuinely caring, whilst some of their supervisors were rude and uncompassionate to my dad's needs. Visiting was so restrictive (one hour per day) that my Dad was left alone for hour after hour, he was a very social individual and this environment was damaging to him. The restricted visitation was due to staffing levels, not Covid controls.

Overall, my family were deeply disappointed by the level of care in Kingsmead, we wanted the best level of care for his end of life, and would not recommend it to others.

We were very sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

I am sorry we were not able to meet your wishes to accommodate your Dad on the nursing floor. I would be very willing to meet with you to explain our reasons, but it would be inappropriate for me to discuss...

The staff are brilliant. The care for the residents over this challenging year has been safety the top priority. The activities coordinator has been great at arranging video calls to dad and sending regular photos of what he has been up to, this has been a great help to the family in these difficult times of lockdown as we haven't been able to visit. Keep up the great job you all do and stay safe.
