The staff are very caring and friendly. I feel like residents are well looked after here. They have lots of activities, days out and themed days in the home. Very clean environment and pleasant to walk around. Feels like a home from home.

Mum moved into The Orchards in January 2022. Unfortunately, after a week, Covid meant that the residents had to isolate. A fortnight later, Mum needed hospital treatment for two weeks. A difficult start for her. She has now been back at The Orchards for three weeks. During this time, the staff have treated Mum with caring compassion. They have encouraged her to take part in the community activities but always in a respectful way. The Orchards is well run and has a happy, positive atmosphere. There have been many occasions when I have needed to ring the home and my phone calls have been welcomed and actioned, and I have been encouraged to always ring if I have a concern.

My 95-year-old mother, a longtime but slow dementia sufferer, moved into the care of The Orchards 18 months ago. She was always resistant about moving into care, and we kept her in relatively independent living as long as possible. However, 7-weeks in the hospital during Covid with no visitors or mental stimulation caused a rapid decline, physically and mentally, and it was clear that full-time care was required. We have always been impressed by the care and affection from the staff, and despite minor issues, such as clothing going astray, the overall care has been outstanding. The nutrition and food provided have made a very positive change to her physically, and whilst she is almost lost to us mentally, we can see that a great deal of effort is made to keep her stimulated and included in the many social activities, even if she is unable to take part. Her condition makes it very difficult for anyone to care for her, but the Orchards are wonderful, giving us peace of mind that she is safe and cared for.

Dad being almost blind and needing help with everything.
Not enough staff - always in a rush - not able to help with individual needs.
Dignity - no pants worn in the first 5 weeks.
Activities - not enough - boredom and helplessness sets in when left alone for hours - no individual needs catered for (disabilities)

Safety/Security - Left alone too long in rooms and clothing goes missing or gets damaged in washing.

On arriving at The Orchards, I was met by friendly, helpful staff. The resident I visited was happy and telling me how lovely the home was. I must agree, there is a very welcoming presence on entering the building. Really pleasant visit throughout.

I think the Orchards and all the staff team work hard for the residents. Their activities are so imaginative - all the residents are encouraged to join in but are given space if they wish. Watching it all on Facebook is wonderful for families and friends. Through the very difficult months, all the staff have worked so hard for all the residents and I’m sure that it has brought comfort to all families like my friend's family. Well done to the whole team.

The activity timetable is non-stop. Lots of pictures shared so I can see my loved one when I can't be with her. Visiting has been appropriate during the Covid 19 pandemic and communication about it mostly brilliant. Thank you.

My mother has been a resident of The Orchards since late November 2020 so still very early days. However, I have had a number of contacts with the staff and have found them all to be very professional, helpful and friendly. My mother has settled in very quickly and speaks very highly of everyone and constantly says how lovely the food is and how comfortable the rooms are. So far, The Orchard is living up to the high expectations we had for the home.

The staff was very friendly and very attentive towards residents and visitors. The residents looked very happy and tidy. Whilst I was there, there was a music activity man playing a banjo and singing. All the residents were involved. Some were up dancing with the carers.

My mother was a resident here until she sadly died in January 2020. The care, consideration and kindness all the staff displayed to Mum and ourselves was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble. It was hard to move Mum from the home she lived in for 60 years, she found care, company and kindness at The Orchards a home from home very many thanks to all the staff.

My mother has been a resident in The Orchards for several years. I cannot fault the care she has had and is still receiving. The staff work as a team and I cannot fault the care my mother receives. The staff respect her need for independence and accommodate this need as long as it is safe. The food and entertainment are of a high standard. My family and I are always made to feel welcome. I can't recommend it highly enough.
