Activities poor - largely due to the other residents who wish to sit and watch TV all day.
Our wellbeing coordinator has spoken to all of our residents to ask them what activities they would like to do. We strive to ensure that we can meet all of residents needs by...
My mother is currently a resident at Victoria Gardens and I have recently visited from my home in Canada. I find that my mother is very content and feels safe and secure at Victoria Gardens. The staff are wonderful with residents and families. The staff are professional, compassionate, caring and approachable. The staff take care to treat each resident as individuals, taking into account their specific needs, requests and personalities. I feel confident that my mother is receiving the best care.
6 weeks earlier, she had been in hospital for a UTI and had come home, weak, disorientated, disengaged and substantial weight loss. At 92, this was quite serious.
Over the 6 week stay at the home, excellent care, support and interaction with wonderful staff has seen her gain weight, become active and interested in life through the many activities and very happy. She has asked to come back for further periods of respite in the future.
Well done and a big thank you to management and staff at Victoria Gardens.
The home is lovely and warm, the staff are friendly and helpful. They have entertainment and joke with the residents. It's more like a hotel than a home. The ensuite bedroom is clean as is the rest of the home. Uncle feels safe, secure and contented.
My sister moved in in November 2016 for 2 weeks respite care and has not moved out. They know her and her personality. They treat her as a person in her own right but notice immediately if she seems to be down and care for her. The district matrons call every day not only to see my sister but the staff will say if they notice a change. Nothing is too much trouble- whether it's a kind word- a cup of tea - or a need to inform the matrons of a change in her health.
My Aunt has been resident in Victoria Gardens since November 2016 and my Mother-in-Law since December 2016. Both ladies initially went in for respite care and then made the decision to stop permanently. They both feel happy and safe in the warm and homely environment and continue to receive first class care delivered with kindness, compassion and good humour. All the staff employed in the home appear to have the best interests of residents at heart and go out of their way to make them as comfortable and settled as possible. Staff have taken the time to find out what activities my relatives would enjoy and my Mother-in-Law now regularly plays Dominoes with the Activities Coordinator who is also supporting my Aunt, an ex-Librarian, to help set up a Library for residents. The care home manager is accessible and responsive and takes the time to talk to residents and their relatives. She leads by example and it is obvious that her priority is to provide the best care possible for her residents.
Staff were supportive with the challenges and issues that arose during his stay.
Victoria Gardens would again be my first choice for care in the future.
I felt that everything was extremely well organised and very efficient. The staff are very pleasant to visitors and residents alike. I would happily recommend the care provider to anyone.
Wonderful place. Great visit to see a lifelong friend and happy to see him being so well cared for.
Dad has recently moved here and I am so happy with everything about Victoria Gardens and relieved that dad is happy here.
I have visited the home and found it satisfactory.
Having looked at a number of care homes in the last few weeks I was beginning to doubt that there would be somewhere that I would be happy to leave my mum. Pulling onto the car park, my hopes were raised, the home and garden looked lovely. The welcome I received was warm and friendly as was the home. It was clean, tidy and with none of the smells that were present in the homes I'd viewed. All the staff, from management to handyman are welcoming and friendly. Moved my mum in, within 24 hours of visiting and I believe that I have moved my mum somewhere that is a home in more than just its name.
This care home is understaffed due to high residency. The care home could do with a new uplift. Activity lady is hardly seen, more trips need to be arranged and the manager could learn how to smile.
All of our homes are staffed according to occupancy and the ratios are increased or decreased according to resident's needs.

The home is gradually being upgraded has a very comfortable lounge and dining room. Dad's bedroom could do with a bit of an update.
I don't find the laundry very good. Dad's clothes look very crumpled sometimes.
The activities are varied and enjoyed by all the residents.
We are happy to hear your Dad is well looked after and is enjoying the food.
We have a refurbishment plan for all of our homes which includes both communal areas and residents...
I can directly compare the home and care given to my nan in her home with the same that my friend receives here. The accommodation is far superior here, the staff are caring, friendly and treat their residents as people, not as objects and the level of care and support is second to none.
If only Victoria Gardens had been open before my nan passed away.
I myself have found the team very friendly and helpful. Any questions or concerns I have raised has been fully answered and the team are happy to discuss any problems. I find the atmosphere relaxed and homelike. The open door policy allows me to visit when my shift work permits and Mum and I can still go out to the theatre, etc., as we wish.
I highly recommend this home.
I think the place is very very nice, all of the staff are nice. My husband is very happy here- he looks a lot better since being here he has good food, lots to do and company. I am made very welcome and happy when I come, the place is kept clean.
I feel happy and safe here.
