The staff are excellent, caring and compassionate. Having worked in a health and social care environment for a number of years, both as a service provider, lecturer and quality assurance assessor. I have found Roxburgh House to be one of the best experiences I could hope for my mum. The manager and
all staff are so helpful and caring. The food is fantastic and mum eats very well, she feels she is on holiday in a hotel.

The pancake tossing competition was a good laugh and the residents really enjoyed it. It was nan's birthday as well and they made her a lovely cake. Excellent entertainment team.

Had great fun tossing pancakes with the residents and entertainment team.
Rooms seemed clean and the alcohol gel was readily available. All of the residents appeared to be enjoying the activities.

My Mother-in-law has been resident at Roxburgh for about 4 months. She has settled well due to the welcoming and caring staff. There is a lively fun atmosphere if the residents want to join in, but plenty of quiet space if needed.

Staff have been kind and considerate with my mother who is now 93 years of age. Various systems have been put in place to improve her safety following recent falls. One particular carer was instrumental in persuading Mom to move to a ground floor room. The staff are very helpful and supportive at night
when Mom is awake and restless. The cooks are also a great asset to the home. There is a pleasant atmosphere at Roxburgh.

My mother had been in dementia care residence since April 2014. In her stay with Roxburgh House Care Home, she had always been very well looked after and treated with dignity and respect. On October 2nd, Mother's dementia and condition took a turn for the worst and in the following two weeks, until
her eventual demise she was exceptionally cared for and my praise for all the staff and management could not be higher.

I visit my aunt on average 4 or 5 times a year, she is aware of everything and very content and happy. The staff are all very friendly and attentive, food and drinks are in good supply and there is a daily printed choice of menu. All the residents seem happy and well cared for, overall a very good atmosphere.
Plenty
of activities and entertainment, she has her hair done every week.

When visiting my 86 year old aunt I'm always made very welcome by the friendly staff. I'm quite often offered a drink and a piece of cake. All staff and residents greet each other with Christian names and I always get the impression of a happy, relaxed atmosphere.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.600)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.600) out of 10 for Roxburgh House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.850 for Roxburgh House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (104 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.85
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Roxburgh House Care Home is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 10 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
