We are very happy with Sunrise of Tettenhall. The care the staff show my mother is second to none. They take the time to understand the needs of each of the resident and help them as and when necessary. My mother recently had a spell in hospital and was so pleased to return to Sunrise. The staff helped her in building her strength back up and encouraging her to eat and drink better.

Mum has been at Sunrise, Wolverhampton for 4years, there have been a few issues in this time, but they have been sorted out.

I have asked my mother and she has said that during the time she has been in Sunrise she feels the food has gone downhill. But the care has been very good.

My cousin and his wife came to live in Sunrise of Tettenhall over tow and a half years ago.

We have always found all the staff extremely caring and supportive. We have always felt able to address any issues with them. We have also always been made welcome.

Individual staff are friendly and helpful. I am happy leaving my father in their care. Main concern is staff being too busy to stop and spend time with him. My father is highly intelligent and very astute, but he lacks stimulation from conversation and companionship. The staff react positively when anything is raised with them but no one actually takes responsibility for following through consistency, usually due to the other resident's needs.

The facilities here are excellent and the staff are friendly but what lets Sunrise of Tettenhall down is the hygiene in the rooms, laundry issues, missing items and turn around of washing. The idea of the communication book was an excellent idea, but it is never followed up! Very hit and miss. The doctor seems very hit and miss. We are going to change doctors. If these issues were resolved, it would make Sunrise of Tettenhall a very good mark and not just satisfactory.

Mum has quite advanced dementia but Sunrise of Tettenhall treat her with total respect and dignity. The staff are so caring. She is always clean and tidy and well fed. The food here is excellent - wine and sherry with meals if required, all beautifully served.

The house and the staff are excellent however, I have two reservations about the surrounds.
1) The approach to the house is poorly lit, improved lighting is required in the car park and drive.

2) The facilities for Blue Badge handicapped parking is limited to two places only which appear to be permanently occupied.

My grandma settled into Sunrise really well and the care provided is brilliant. She has recently moved into the reminiscence part of Sunrise and has been given a lot of support during the transition.

I have been a resident for respite care for 3 weeks in 2012. Now I am a volunteer and run a poetry group every other Monday morning which I enjoy very much.

Sometimes I have 8 or 10 residents - sometimes only 3 (I enjoy the latter as it's more a one to one occasion!) The care given to residents is very good and caring.

My father has been in Sunrise of Tettenhall for nearly three years.
The staff are amazing so happy, friendly and wonderful with the residents.

My father was taken ill not so long ago, and they quickly got in touch with us, and dad was taken to hospital so promptly that the situation was calmly dealt with. Thank you to everyone that looks after him.

Overall no complaints. All seems to be fine, however, I do feel that the reminiscence section gives the impression of being substandard when compared to the front main section (assisted living area). All the glamour of the establishment seems to be concentrated on the main entrance area, and that the reminiscence is hidden out the back?? Just the impression I get when I walk into the building.

The care and consideration given to my dad since moving into Sunrise has been wonderful. All the staff I come into contact with know him well, and I feel confident he is well cared for. There has also been good communication between Sunrise and myself from the day he moved in and I know they often go above and beyond to accommodate some of his demands and for that, I thank the whole team.

Nan has settled in really well and her health and well being has improved massively since moving into Sunrise of Tettenhall she moved in in a wheelchair but is now walking independently with a frame. Meet the Team (1)

Katy Anderson
Katy AndersonJob Title:Home Manager

I am a qualified nurse and also have a degree in mental health nursing. I have also completed an accredited leadership course with the Royal College of Nursing.

I have been with Care UK since 2023, and it’s an organisation with a strong ethos and values that are completely focused on delivering high-quality care.

As a home manager, excellent leadership is vital. The key is understanding each resident and each team member, and maintaining open, honest communication with everyone who comes to Hartwood. Working in care takes real commitment, and a leadership position needs a high level of focus and attention to detail, while still being warm and approachable. My door is always open to everyone.

I also believe in leading by example, so I always try to model excellent practice. It is important to fulfil the responsibility and trust placed in me, and I want to ensure every resident has a positive experience here.

I love to see people enjoy themselves. Socialising is so important to a person’s well-being. It’s wonderful to see the bistro filled with relatives and children visiting their loved ones. Life for many people starts again in a care home, and I have seen so many residents over the years find a fresh purpose, make friends and enjoy new hobbies. Being a home manager is a privilege and deeply rewarding. I honestly don’t see this as just a job; it’s a large part of my life, and my workplace is like a second home.

Outside of work, my son and I love going on wildlife walks in the woods. I also enjoy anything that involves animals. I have a large extended family too, so we socialise a lot, which I always look forward to.
