Tucked just outside the historic town of Ross-on-Wye, West Bank is a beautifully preserved Victorian home offering residential care, respite stays, day care, and dedicated dementia support.

Life at West Bank is relaxed and homely. Dad came to West Bank for respite after he was let down by his home care. He was adamant that he wanted to return home. Having experienced the excellent staff, care, activities and facilities for a couple of months he has realised his quality of life is much better at West Bank. There is a lovely family
atmosphere which extends to us as a family as well as to Dad. Each time I visit Dad is much brighter and I can leave him with peace of mind.

Just a short message to thank all the staff at West Bank for caring for my wife during her very long illness. My wife is at peace now and will be buried alongside her mother in Lombardstown Co Cork Ireland. The care provided at Westbank could be described as wonderful.

West Bank Residential Home has met the changing needs of my friend for the last 4 years of her life. During that time her needs changed as her health deteriorated and dementia developed but the service provided has always been personalized to respond to each of the changes and respect demonstrated at
every stage.
There is a very tangible sense of community within the home, good teamwork and communication is continuously evidenced, and the ability to retain and develop experienced, long-term members of staff is a testament to the excellent management of the service. Staff are always welcoming, helpful and supportive to family and friends, who are communicated with face to face, through social media and newsletter.
There is a continuous and lively program of activities provided which includes people coming into the home, as well as taking every opportunity practicable to engage with the wider community of Ross.
Churches, shops, pubs and cafes are well used and links to schools and community groups.

My friend went to West Bank in Easter 2019 - we were very lucky to find a vacancy there at short notice. For the last four years, she has been looked after in an exemplary manner by all the staff. Even her initial night wanderings were dealt with in a kindly manner. The staff were always kind to her,
even in her grumpy moments! I and her other friends couldn't have asked for a better place for her to end her days, and will always be most grateful to the excellent staff.

It was extremely fortunate that my friend was offered a place at West Bank Residential Home.
Understandably it took her a little while to settle, however it quickly became clear that she was receiving excellent care. At all times she was treated, by all staff members, with dignity and respect.
Over
the 4 years carers' seamlessly adapted to my friend's changing needs, always calm, patient and professional, maintaining the same high standard of care. I only ever witnessed kindness in the way all residents were treated.
Knowing that my friend was safe, secure and very well looked after meant a great deal to me, especially during the Covid pandemic when there were times I was unable to visit.
Sadly my friend died last week. End of life care was second to none- all staff showing kindness and compassion, and support to us too.
West Bank is as good as it gets - care is excellent, staff are just lovely and led by an amazing manager - very much a home within a Home.

My father-in-law, my mother and then my wife have been residents over the last 30 years. We have, as a family always been grateful for the care, compassion and knowledge of the staff. The rooms are spacious and well-furnished and the catering is superbly varied to meet individual and group likes and
dislikes. The standards of maintenance, laundry and grounds are excellent. Activities are well programmed and match the individual needs and full provision of outside support. The care is well organised and effective, according to need and the leadership is remarkable with a balance of homeliness and quiet efficiency.

Westbank exceeds all expectations. The care my mother receives is second to none. The staff and the facilities are first class. Always caring, entertainment hear always provided, lots of fun things to do. The home is spotlessly clean with a lovely fresh smell. The food provided to meet individual needs
could be served in any good hotel. The manager leads the running of West Bank with pride, enthusiasm and always with a smile.

Westbank has been wonderful with my grandfather, he uses the daycare services and also respite when they have a vacancy.

My sister is a resident at West Bank Residential Home and has been since 2016. In the entire 6 years I have never experienced problems or difficulties. The kind caring staff provide a wonderful service and there is always a really happy family atmosphere, under the more than able leadership of the
manager...they all work as a team and it shows. High days and holidays are celebrated and Christmas is so amazing I'm surprised Father Christmas hasn't taken up residence! Each resident's birthday is celebrated when the cooks produce a beautiful cake...such care goes into everything. I am so very grateful for the kindness, care and compassion my sister receives, and for the warm welcome I receive at each visit, it feels very special.

The staff are very caring and manage my 97-year-old father's changing care needs well. He is now frail and needs increasing levels of care which are anticipated and actioned. I am kept informed of any significant change or issue in relation to his care.

My father went into West Bank Residential Home initially as an emergency respite, unfortunately, he was only there for three weeks before passing away. The care my father received was exceptional, the staff were all caring and polite and treated him with dignity and respect. The home was always immaculate,
including the gardens where my father liked to sit, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, including laundry assistants, domestics and kitchen staff. We as a family were always made welcome and it did not matter what time of day we arrived.

Due to Covid19 I have not been inside the home, but do see my friend in the garden and it's all very nice.
Cannot answer some of the questions, as I haven't seen inside the home.
My friend looks well and cared for, she likes the food. She has a memory problem so I don't hear any other news.

Although still visiting outside, my father looks well, nicely dressed, clean and tidy. I had a wonderful surprise on visiting a couple of weeks ago. My father kept telling staff he wanted to buy me flowers. They arranged this, and I was present with a beautiful bunch. He has so pleased with himself.

Dad has been at "West Bank" since June 2020 after having a stroke. Unable to visit was hard - but seeing the regular videos on their website has helped - seeing residents laughing and enjoying keep fit and the music singalongs. Then came the "big 100th celebrations" with visits being limited "100 cards
for Dad" was launched, cards from all over the world were received, (all the residents helped in opening the large sackful). A 'party was organised for Dad and residents - and the home 'buzzed' with excitement. A "family" (Covid safe) visit was arranged complete with balloons and a very lovely chocolate (Dad's favourite) cake. West Bank are "stars".

Judy started working at West Bank in 1994, and became the Registered Manager in 2006.


She has four children and four grandchildren, aged between 5 and 15 and spends most of her spare time enjoying their company! She is also fond of swimming and gardening.
