Appletrees Care Home

After successfully removing our grandad from the awful institution, we want to highlight the dangers of this uncaring home. Management-miserable, unco-operative and unprofessional. When concerns were highlighted, the response was a shoulder shrug. They do not care and they do not take accountability. The carers-there are a handful of carers that actually care. The rest sit in silence on their phones. Cleanliness-appalling and often we would find our grandads bedroom covered in days worth of urine. Activities-what activities? There is no stimulation whatsoever for residents with dementia. We often witnessed residents stood crying looking out of a window. They don't acknowledge the residents or make conversation, they are left to wander aimlessly and become agitated. Safeguarding-this should be highlighted soon by CQC in their many recent reviews. It is dangerous. The place needs shutting down and the manager needs to be removed. I am thankful my grandad no longer has to live here.

I always find staff approachable. On the various times I have been they always seem to treat the residents with care and respect. I am kept well informed about any changes or needs for my mother. Overall an excellent establishment that I would not hesitate to recommend.

Mom has been at appletrees since August 2025 and as a family we are overall happy with their ongoing care and I get regular calls if any issues or medication changes. Always a happy reception when visiting.

Appletrees is a fantastic care home that takes great care of my grandmother who is suffering from dementia. I am very pleased with the level of service and duty that the staff there provide, they have my full trust.

First thing noticed - no smells. The building is well lit. The staff are very efficient and caring, this includes the cleaners. The staff are also very friendly. The room is very spacious and includes a television and hand basin. Food is very good and varied. Regular tea breaks with biscuits quite often during the day. Overall a pleasant atmosphere.

The care home has been really good for our aunt. They have treated her with respect and looked after all her needs and we would like to say a big thank you for what you do and to all the staff at the care home.

Happy with what we have seen when visiting the resident. They seem happy and the carers are very supportive and interact with the residents. They seem happy rooms are always very clean when ever we visit as are the lounges and television rooms.

I would absolutely recommend Appletrees to anyone who is looking for a genuinely wonderful home for their loved one.

From day one I have felt very welcome. They are very caring with everyone they look after even if you are not a resident. It has a very warm feeling.

I recently removed my Mom from Appletrees due to lack of 'care'. The residents are bored, there is no stimulation for them at all. As my Mom's care needs increased they were unable to meet them and rather than tell us they just muddled on, which really wasn't helpful.

My aunt is very well cared for. Always clean and dressed, the staff are on hand for any questions we may have.

Appletrees, previously another name, which changed overnight without notice, is an appalling place that is not fit to be called a care home. Management are shocking and really do not care at all. Don't trust a word, they lie. I was told they put up with my mom’s incontinence! My mom would walk round in circles like a dog alongside other residents equally bored, told constantly to sit down. Residents had no stimulation, sat opposite each other wailing for attention. I need to alert anyone who considers this home to run. I saw first-hand how they are all treated. Residents spend their time staring into space. The outdoor space is a small, claustrophobic space, the only accessible place is littered with used cigarettes and broken dirty chairs. They claim to be specialists in care but they have no understanding of dementia, behaviour is reprimanded as if they choose to forget! It’s not enough to feed and water our elderly, they deserve so much more. I really hope the care quality team are keeping their eyes open!

The staff always go above and beyond to help me when I visit, my auntie thinks they’re all wonderful, never has a bad word to say about any of them, always smiles, fresh and clean. My auntie‘s room is always nice, clean and freshly made bed. The food always looks really nice and smells amazing.

This positive treatment, consideration of personal needs and friendship gives a lot of comfort to patients and their families.

Always have found everyone who works here to be most responsive and helpful. If we need to speak to staff, for whatever we might need to question/ask, we have always had a quick meet-up. Everyone is charming and polite. Our family member is treated with the utmost respect and care for her immediate needs. Our family member is very happy here. All her needs are met.

Rooms are clean and tidy. Staff are friendly. Nursing staff are helpful. Mum is warm and comfortable.

There has been much improvement at the home, all of the staff are friendly ,kind and approachable. The new manager really has already made a difference, the place feels cleaner and more homely. My auntie is feeling much more settled and staff have been kind and patient with her.
