We found all the staff at Dorset House Nursing and Residential Care Home extremely caring, showing dignity to all their residents. All the staff are very special people, doing very special work under such difficult circumstances. We as a family and the whole of society owe them so much - thank you.

Delighted with the care my mum is receiving - the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Mum has Alzheimer's but is obviously happy and being stimulated by the many activities. During lockdown, I have been able to visit mum in the lovely summer house in well-kept grounds - and today I could visit mum
in the wonderfully relaxing indoor room.

My father has been a resident of Dorset House since July 2020. This was mid-Covid when we feared we would not have contact with him for some time. The staff have been compassionate, caring and professional throughout, keeping us informed about Dad's needs and progress. He has started to settle and this
is without a doubt due to the commitment and hard work of all staff.

I cannot thank the staff enough for the love and care shown to my mum during her two years and three months as a resident at Dorset House. Mum had never wanted to spend her last days in a residential care home but when the need arose, we could not have found a better one. As soon as she had settled
into her surroundings she loved the staff and the attention that they gave. The care and love that she received was exceptional. I was always made to feel very welcome too! From my experience, I would not hesitate to recommend Dorset House.

We moved mum to Dorset House a year ago having become increasingly dissatisfied with the care she was receiving at her previous care home. We were immediately struck by the polar differences between the two establishments. The former is an institution where her individual tasks and personality were
not accommodated, and Dorest House which is more homely and where she is treated by all with warmth and dignity. Since covid 19 visiting restrictions preventing us from seeing mum. It is very comforting to know that she is happy and being cared for, the staff are very good at keeping you in touch.

Dorset House, what a fabulous facility. From management staff to carers, cleaners, caterers, and maintenance. All the staff are helpful, attentive and accommodating. The cleanliness and general tidiness of the facility is excellent - clean, bright, fresh and welcoming. The person I care for loves Dorset
House from the staff, food atmosphere and all the in house facilities. She doesn't want to be or would wish to be anywhere else. I wouldn't extremely recommend, I would definitely recommend.

Dad was only there for a short time but the care and attention that he received was excellent. We recently had a Christmas experience that was lovely. The food and activities were fantastic as were all of the staff. Thank you from the whole family for looking after my dad.

Lovely staff, great care.
Have wonderful memories of my aunt and her partner in the garden holding hands last summer.
Activities are great, a cellist plays in residents rooms if they wish. The music touches everyone.
Very thoughtful presents for residents; for my aunt, photo of her partner at Easter
holding a lamb.
Thank you all at Dorset House.

Dorset House offers excellent care, kindness and compassion. They cared for my mother during her stay and were of great comfort to myself and at the end of her life. The setting is of a good standard, nice clean room. A lovely garden and most of all excellent care.

I cannot speak highly enough with regards to the care and love my father received during his time at Dorset House.
I also want to mention the excellent attention to detail within the home. The caring staff were always happy to help and provide second to none care and assistance. I have reserved my
place for when I need to enter a care/nursing home, I was that impressed. Love to all.

Mum lived happily at Dorset House for over 5 years. Over the years she noticed several improvements, particularly in terms of the catering and the decor/environment which she was very comfortable with. Mum received excellent personal care from very attentive staff and she had good relationships with
all the team who she trusted and valued.

My mother in law was so happy during the 7 years of her stay at Dorset House. It was chosen because of its homely non-clinical feel. The staff are very caring and approachable and there is a range of activities provided for those who wish to participate and the recently decorated dining room, drawing
room and morning room are comparable to a five-star hotel. Finally, dignity was always foremost in the minds of all the staff.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (10.000)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (10.000) out of 10 for Dorset House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Dorset House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (276 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 276 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dorset House Nursing Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
