Lisa has worked at Dorset House since 1999. She started her career straight out of school in a care focussed role and continued to work in this field as a Care Assistant and Auxiliary Nurse in other care settings for a number of years. She then took a break from care to work in catering up to starting at Dorset House. Her first role in the home was as Head Waitress alongside our Head Chef Marion. She now works as a Lifestyle Coordinator but prefers the term companion!
‘Inspiring Activities’ is one of our four main pillars at Rotherwood Healthcare and this is integral to Lisa’s role at Dorset House. It can be a very sensitive role, dealing with the resident's emotional, therapeutic and recreational needs, yet fulfilling at the same time. Lisa describes it as an honour and a privilege to help give our residents the quality of life they deserve, make their wishes come true and learn from them along the way.
In her free time, Lisa enjoys looking after her granddaughter, pottering around her garden, reading and baking to help her relax.
Mandy is our head housekeeper. She has worked at Dorset House for over 15 years and is a key part of the team. Mandy and her staff always maintain the highest standards of tidiness and cleanliness for our residents at all times.
Marion started training as a chef at 16 years old and has enjoyed working in the profession ever since. She has devoted the past 15 years as Head Chef to cooking for our residents here at Dorset House.
Marion’s usual day in the kitchen involves cooking-up breakfast, lunches and suppers for up to 42 residents. On top of that, she comes up with different menu plans each week to keep mealtimes interesting for everyone. With mealtimes often being the highlight of the day for our residents Marion and her team at Dorset House have introduced theme days including an Italian day where she served up an impressive Italian themed three-course lunch.
Marion loves to get involved with residents' birthdays and ensures that special treats are made. She also oversees the making of celebration cakes – through the actual making of those cakes is left to her extremely talented second in command!
National holidays including St Patrick’s Day, Easter and, of course, Christmas offer yet another opportunity for Marion and her team to get creative and lay on a perfectly themed spread.
Marion loves to spend time with her family away from work and flick through the odd recipe book or two believing that you never know where inspiration may strike next!
