At the age of 98, Mum was living on her own in Lancashire, and not able to look after herself any longer. Mum agreed to move to Worcester to live close to us. After visiting one or two care homes we immediately had a good feeling about Northwick Grange and felt so lucky that they had one vacant lovely room. The management and senior staff were so welcoming and Mum spent the next two years there being very well looked after. She enjoyed the home-cooked food, the entertainment, and the social activities. All the staff throughout were very caring, and helpful and made Mum's stay feel homely and comfortable, and I can't thank them enough. I would also like to thank the district nurses for their care and attention. On her 100th birthday, she had a wonderful party with lovely food and live entertainment.

Many thanks to everyone and I would happily recommend Northwick Grange.

My mother was moved to Northwick Grange in March 2021 where she quickly settled in. She enjoyed the home-cooked food and socialising in the lounge. Mum had a lovely room with a view and staff responded quickly and efficiently when she needed assistance. There was nothing the staff would not do to make her time at Northwick Grange as comfortable as it could be. The management and staff were amazing, their care and professionalism were second to none particularly in her final days.

My father was moved into Northwick Grange following a hospital visit as a temporary measure, while we went through the process of deciding what was best for him long term. We could not fault the care. He was happy and comfortable throughout his stay and came out a lot healthier and although now in a permanent care home elsewhere, he is so much better for his time at Northwick Grange.

My mother is safe and well looked after. Her bedroom is bright and cosy. All of the staff look after the residents with care, compassion, professionalism and a sense of humour. There are protected, communal meal times and very relaxed visiting hours.

Mum lived in Northwick Grange for approximately 1 year and 10 months, but her medical needs have increased so she is now awaiting a nursing home place. The Grange has a lovely ambience and the garden is lovely to look at. The rooms are comfortable, the food and drink good and the staff do a very good job in very over-stretched and busy circumstances and have always been lovely with Mum and us. Entertainment excellent too. My only reservations are the use of commodes (although I wouldn't be able to suggest an alternative, sometimes) and the level of busyness meaning Mum has sometimes been wet or dirty for a while before being taken to the loo. I can't blame the staff though. Can I make a suggestion? Is it possible to solicit volunteer help, perhaps to provide 'friends' to chat to or sit with individual residents?

Excellent staffing. Food and a very warm atmosphere to the home. As a family member, I am more than happy and on the two/three times there has been an issue, it has been sorted promptly and professionally. Recommend the home any time.

Most importantly for me is that the staff are caring and professional, there are activities for Mum to do or opt out of should she wish.

The home is bright and lean. District nurses available 24/7.

We are happy with Mum living at Northwick. She has good days and bad days but overall enjoys. The bad days relate to herself in how she's feeling, not necessarily her care. Carers are helpful and caring and look after the residents well in, sometimes, not an easy situation. We all feel very settled with her care and thankful she has settled well. Her bedroom is always clean and bathroom too.

My mother has been a resident at Northwick Grange for almost 2 years. She is very settled here and well looked after by all the staff - as I visit regularly I am able to witness this first hand. Staff work incredibly hard in sometimes challenging situations. They have been very encouraging with my mum, enabling her to have as much interaction as suits her, with both staff and other residents. (She's not particularly sociable but has benefitted from the positive relationships established). She feels at home - thank you!

Northwick Grange is generally a good care home with regular staff of a high standard, but there can be problems with agency staff. Some are really good, but a few are not up to standard with caregiving. When English is not a first language, it can be very difficult for older people to hear and understand them. Cleanliness is excellent at Northwick Grange but food can vary, especially if agency chefs are on duty. Sometimes, hot food is served on a cold plate for instance. Northwick Grange needs to be fitted with double glazing throughout and the car park has some very big potholes near the road end. The paint is peeling off the window frames, giving the frontage a shabby appearance. With the large increase in weekly fees, you should be attending to these matters more.

Reply from Philip Dutton, Director at Northwick Grange

Thank you for your comments concerning Northwick Grange. We are pleased you are satisfied with the levels of care received. We are working hard on recruitment to reduce our reliance on agency staff however inevitably with absence through sickness there is a need to use them from time to time. We...
