My Grandad is a resident at High Lea. It was a difficult and reluctant decision made by my mum and aunts to move him to a care home but after a number of incidents it was clear he wasn't safe to be living alone at home. As a family, we could not be happier with the care he has received since he has been at High Lea. He is well cared for and is looking better than he has for a long time. He is eating well and all of his personal care is taken care of. The home is clean, tidy and welcoming and the staff are so attentive and friendly. Grandad chats with them all and nothing is too much trouble. Even down to if he doesn't fancy what is on the menu the chef will make him something he does fancy and that pleases him no end. I also know that the staff have been a tremendous support to my mum and aunts as they have adjusted to the change of their dad being in a care home. Overall it is a calm, safe and happy place and we couldn't ask for more when it comes to the care of someone you love.

As a family, we were very reluctant to place Dad in care, but had to accept that he was not safe at home and we could not provide the 24 hour care he needed. He has been at High Lea for a few months now, and I cannot speak highly enough of the care he has received.
As a registered nurse, I am aware of appropriate standards of care, and cannot fault anything about this home. Each and every member of staff goes above and beyond to support him, I would say that the staff treat my Dad as if he was their own. He has a different relationship with each one of them, one of the morning staff has her break with him, the evening staff take him to water his hanging basket, the night staff get him to help them to lay the tables when he as at his most confused and needs distracting. Attention to detail is key with the staff, and they are brilliantly led by Yvonne. The food is great, the home is clean and the gardens are lovely. Absolutely nothing negative to say about High Lea, it's wonderful.

My friend has been a resident at High Lea House for some time now, and I visit him regularly. He seems happy and settled there, and the staff are always very welcoming when I go. They are constantly having a laugh with him, and he is much happier than I have seen him in a good while. He has also put on weight, he was getting very thin at home but the food is so good there and it's made a big difference.
It's a beautiful old building, which feels more homely than modern purpose built homes which I feel has aided his transition, as he has dementia - I have another friend who is in a new home in the town centre, and High Lea seeems so much nicer and has lovely gardens. I hope that I will be able to live at home until the end of my days, but if I do end up needing support, I would be quite happy to move into High Lea.

My mother spent a few happy weeks in High Lea before having to move to a care home specialising in the care of Dementia. During her time she received fantastic treatment from the staff who went that one extra yard to ensure she was happy and safe. I know at times this was difficult but their patience and sense of humour were admirable. At the end, Mum was sorry to go and I shall miss visiting her there and meeting the other residents.
Management and nursing staff I would find difficulty in giving a mark high enough to reflect their professionalism.
