My dad has been in the home for coming up 2 years and has been looked after extremely well. All of the staff are polite and go above and beyond to help all residents. The meals are all very good ( dad has put weight on since being a resident and looks so much better ), and there is always a choice.
The meetings that are held are very informative and residents and family are all involved. Overall a definite 10/10.

Hendra House staff continue to look after my father with total professionalism, compassion and empathy. Nothing is too much trouble. The home is spotless, welcoming and extremely well-maintained. Christmas was a special time with great care and attention given to activities, decorations, food and celebrations.
A lovely touch were the gifts delivered to my father on Christmas Day morning before I arrived. This is a superbly managed setup.

Hendra provided a safe and loving home for my dad who had advanced Alzheimer's disease. The staff there are all incredibly kind, patient and professional. They always made the the family feel really welcome when we visited him. He really enjoyed the food, and staff were keen to ensure he ate well. There
are regular activities to provide stimulation and connection which he was able to join in with. The staff were vigilant in identifying potential medical issues, and raising promptly with the GP and district nurse, to get treatment. They ensured he was always comfortable, with a special armchair, footstool and soft throws, as well as medical items to give cushioning and protection in bed. The fact that he could stay at Hendra right to the end meant an enormous amount to us. We were able to say our goodbyes to him in a peaceful and loving environment.
Reply from Vince Burmingham, Owner at Hendra House Residential HomeThank you for taking the time to write a review at this sad time.
However, we hope you take comfort from the fact that dad received the best care possible which we know provided all of the family with a great deal of comfort.

I have been at Hendra for nearly 2 years, and can't fault it in any way.
The staff are caring and patient beyond belief and the stock answer
to the question "May I.......?" is "of course you can."
Top marks, too, for the food that caters for all tastes.
I would recommend Hendra House to anyone.

Staff at Hendre continue to care for Mum with dignity and respect. She states that she feels well cared for and the staff are always " kind" and "caring." They offer the correct level of encouragement and reassurance to ensure she feels safe at all time and that she actively participates in care home
life.
Her room and the communal room is clean and fresh.
The homemade meals and snacks are also very good.
Management are always available to discuss any issues and act accordingly when necessary.
Hendre offer the most appropriate care for Mum to meet her changing care needs.
Reply from Vince Burmingham, Owner at Hendra House Residential HomeThank you for your comments and also the support you and you family give to ensure we can collectively provide mum with the care she needs and deserves.

Just before Christmas Mum had an unwitnessed fall. An Ambulance was called and the decision was made to take her to A&E where an X-ray revealed a fractured radius bone close to her right wrist.
On her return to Hendra House the staff went above and beyond to support Mum and the family throughout the
Christmas and New Year period even though they were providing care and seasonal entertainment for all the other residents.
Mum's condition gradually deteriorated and we were kept fully updated during visits and with regular telephone, email and social messaging communications.
The combined support from the Doctor, District Nurses and Hendra House staff could not have been better.
Mum finally passed away early in January. Again the Hendra House staff were supportive in every way and could not have done any more to help us and the family through this difficult period.

Since my father moved into Hendra House in March 2025 I have been impressed by the standard of care that he has been given. He settled in quickly and the staff did everything they could to help him adjust to life in a carehome. The cleanliness and organisation of Hendra House is excellent and the staff
are always supportive and efficient.

Hendra house has provided my mother with a home - as a family we have felt consistently reassured and happy that mum is in a safe place that she can feel safe and loved.
The staff and manager have made my mum and her health a priority and have worked hard to ensure she is comfortable and all her health
needs are met. Everyone at Hendra has steadily become our extended family too.

The home are always so welcoming and efficient. There is always someone visible and easy to find if I ever need to ask anything, and they go above and beyond for my Grandad. The home has a home from home feel, and there are lots of different areas the residents can go for a different bit of scenery.
The bedrooms are more than equipped and tidy, and they make an effort to make it their own. Unfortunately before this my Grandad was moved between a few homes, and instantly here he said himself he felt safe, loves the staff, and has thrived. Feel especially lucky to find this place.

Hendra House has been taking care of my Mum for over 12 months now. She has a lovely room and has made friends with other residents. The staff are always friendly and helpful and arrange outings and activities for the residents. We are so grateful for the service they provide. My Mum has dementia and
needs plenty of understanding and care and Hendra House provides this for our family. The food is also very good, Mum always looks forward to meal times.

As soon as my dad moved into the care home, all the care staff we met were very friendly, kind and caring. The manager went out of her way to ensure that were were listened to, especially as Dad was settling in for his first few days.
My father is eating very well and likes the food choices available.
He has told me that he is happy, which, for me to hear, is very comforting.

From the first meeting, the care home manager to my dad moving in and settling into the routine, I felt that I was listened to and everything was put in place for my father to move into a safe environment. Once he was in the home, all the staff I had dealings with were very friendly and demonstrated
a caring attitude to the residents at all times. My father has told me that he really likes it there, which, for me, says everything I need to know.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.977)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.977) out of 10 for Hendra House Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.977 for Hendra House Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (258 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 264 Ratings = 4.977
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hendra House Residential Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
