A wonderful home for Mum. Staff are kind, compassionate, caring and professional facilities are warm and comfortable. In Mum's final days the home couldn't have been more welcoming to me and my sisters, outstanding.

Hendra House is full of wonderful, committed, kindly and caring staff. They have looked after my mother faithfully, keeping her clean, comfortable and calm. Nothing is too much trouble, and they don't just care for the residents but for the resident's families. Thanks so much to all of them. Mum was
in Hendra throughout the lockdown, when in the first weeks, ten selfless staff put their own lives on hold and moved into the home for 8-weeks to keep the residents safe. I think that says it all.
Reply from Vince Burmingham, Owner at Hendra House Residential HomeThanks for the response.
It is great when family members record their appreciation of our amazing staff team.

In May 2021 I had to place my mother in care due to her advancing dementia and Hendra House was recommended to me by a medical person who was looking after my late father.
She stayed there until Dec 2021 when her condition worsened and we needed her moved to a higher level of nursing.
From start to
finish I found the home superb in every department. It was always clean and tidy, well furnished, well decorated and the Staff were just perfect. Mum was in a lovely room and the staff did plenty of chat with her.
They kept me informed of any change to mum and visiting was well managed.
When it came time to move her Lindsay the manager there made it run as smooth as possible and it was seemless with all the PCR tests etc.
I have no doubt in recommending this home for a loved one.
Reply from Vince Burmingham, Owner at Hendra House Residential HomeThank you Richard.
Hope you are all well and Mum is settling into her new home.
Keep us updated.

It's a difficult and emotional time for any family when deciding the right time for residential care for a loved one. Everyone at Hendra House has been extremely supportive and so very kind, particularly to my mother. The visiting is well organised, and most importantly, the resident's health and welfare
comes first. I certainly recommend Hendra House.

From our initial meeting and throughout the assessment process prior to my mum starting her residency at Hendra House, I have been impressed by the professionalism of the care manager and her commitment to the well being of each resident. Each of the staff members that I have met during visits to Hendra
House has been exceptionally friendly and courteous, and their conscientious attitude to their roles as carers is evident.
The staff have been so supportive of Mum during the settling in process and have shown great patience and understanding in helping her to overcome her anxieties. They have listened to Mum's concerns and made adaptations in order to enhance her comfort and reassure her.
The staff are wonderfully cheerful and positive and communication between Hendra House and families of residents is a key strength. I really feel that we are working in partnership to ensure that Mum's quality of life is as good as it can be.
Thank you so much to each and every one of you.

Excellent care here, from exceptional staff. My mother-in-law’s needs were appropriately met, she was very comfortable at Hendra. During the pandemic restrictions, the staff made a huge effort to look after her and our family. Highly recommended.

My mum was a happy resident at Hendra House for nearly 3 years. I’m impressed and grateful, for the care she received. She was a private person, the staff took time to get to know her and gently encouraged Mum to make friends, at her own pace. Which she did! Each resident is treated as an individual.
Each family included and kept informed. We enjoyed the regular residents' meetings together before they were put on hold, due to the pandemic. They have worked hard, here, during this difficult time, and kept everyone safe. The standard of hygiene is high, as is the catering. Mum’s room was lovely. Comfortable, clean and nicely decorated.

If there was a category exceeding excellence, this is where Hendra House would certainly be. Dad has been there for nearly 2 years and the care and love he has received has been outstanding. In these Covid ridden times, the home has done everything and beyond to keep the residents safe, secure and happy.
It's been such a hard time for everyone but they always have a smile and care for your concerns I know that Dad is very content and so well looked after. I feel they all love and appreciate him for who he is and we feel as a family blessed that he is in such a caring and safe environment. Communication is excellent - we are informed quickly of any concerns, medical issues etc. It's a very special place. Thank you so much, team Hendra.

A very high standard of care, extremely well-trained staff with a thorough knowledge of all residents at all times. Staff always keep in touch with any concerns, act promptly and calmly in any emergency. A real attention to detail. Also a real interest in all residents. A happy atmosphere, just like
being in a welcoming family. Extremely well deserving of all prizes won to date.

This home has housed my mother for the last five years, and I have been extremely happy with her care. The home is constantly reviewing procedures to make life better for Mom and the residents. We get constant feedback on any issues that may arise, and in the current situation, as we cannot get to see
my mother on a regular basis, this is most important. With this in mind, I feel contented and happy to know that Mom is being well looked after both physically and mentally.

Hendra House is amazing! The care manager and her team have gone above and beyond any expectations in keeping the residents safe during the pandemic. The manager right from the beginning of the pandemic was completely on the ball in organising a rota whereby a lot of the carers permanently lived in
sacrificing leaving their families for weeks, even small children. The cleaning of the home and the protection is surmountable, and I highly commend everyone at Hendra and thank them for their kindness, dedication and total support to my 99-year-old mother-in-law. Even when one of the carers and one resident contracted covid, and I was really worried if my mother-in-law caught it, she wouldn’t survive, but the isolation and cleanliness proved that it was totally contained in time for the residents to get their vaccines.

My dad lived at Hendra House for six years. I have never had reason to doubt their care and always feel welcome.
The fact my dad was brought by car to my wedding in Wales without hesitation by his carer, displays the care and attention they give their residents and family members.

When I got married in September 2019, my father-in-law's carer volunteered to drive him from Ludlow to Wales so that he could give his daughter away! Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.977)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.977) out of 10 for Hendra House Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.977 for Hendra House Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (258 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 264 Ratings = 4.977
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hendra House Residential Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
