Tunstall Hall is a Residential Care Home for older people and is located on the outskirts of the Shropshire town of Market Drayton.

Once a Georgian country home for the Broughton-Adley family, Tunstall Hall is built in three and a half acres of grounds surrounded by mature parkland.

The striking galleried entrance hall and lounge at the heart of the home is a favourite area for residents to sit and chat and the large lounge, once a ballroom, has a beautiful ornate ceiling and uninterrupted views across the garden and farmland.

The home has 31 single bedrooms and four have en-suite bathroom facilities. Modern equipment and facilities ensure the health and safety of residents who have restricted mobility.

A dedicated activities coordinator organises group and individual activity programmes including board games, indoor gardening, flower arranging, painting and sing-a-longs. Residents also enjoy day trips and visits, with Cadburyworld in Birmingham proving a particular favourite.

My stepdad was a respite resident at Tunstall Hall and now is living there permanently. My mum is also going in for respite care over the Christmas period, so they can be together for the festive period. All the staff at Tunstall Hall are polite and attentive and it’s lovely to see my stepdad looking
happy. He also loves the entertainment, especially the music and this was a previous hobby of his. Keep up all the good work and thank you for keeping Covid out of the home and keeping my loved one safe.

My wife who has Alzheimer’s and is doubly inconvenient has been at Tunstall Hall since June this year. I visited the hall in June and spent a number of hours in discussions and a tour. I was very impressed with everything I saw and was told. Since my wife has been there, she seems very happy, safe and
well cared for and that gives me great comfort. The place is very clean. My wife always looks clean and well presented. The food is excellent, with a good variety. The staff are very pleasant, caring open and honest and have lots of patience with issues that can be very challenging. My wife has had an outside visit for her birthday which she really enjoyed and I think was important. More are to follow. I can thoroughly recommend Tunstall Hall. The last six months have given me the true feeling that my wife has been well looked after, which is very comforting.

I only have good things to say about Tunstall Hall. The staff have been amazing and keep me fully informed about my mother. They are friendly and attentive and I feel really comfortable about her day to day care. Even during challenging times, nothing is too much trouble.

My aunt is 106 years old and is very well cared for. She seems to be very happy at Tunstall Hall and enjoys the attention she receives and the good quality food. The staff are very friendly and keep us informed of her progress.

My father was in here after suffering a rather nasty fall. He was in here for 2 weeks which enabled him to get over his fall and for us, as a family, to get some changes made at his home. Whilst my father wanted to get back home as soon as possible, he was very well looked after and fed well.

Following a slow decline of Mum's memory and with her eventual diagnosis of dementia, the challenge for my dad to continue caring for her at home was demanding and stressful. A decision was finally concluded that residential care was the best option, reluctantly accepting that this was the best life
choice for my mum. Subsequently, a place was found at Tunstall Hall and what a profound difference this has made to my mum. Greatly improving her quality of life, and of course also my dad's, as her carer. My mum is always complimentary of the care she receives from the team, whenever I visit. From my perspective, everyone at Tunstall Hall has always shown the utmost professionalism, with a dedication to caring and empathy towards my mum. Communication with management has been excellent, especially during the pandemic and government-restricted visiting. We could not have found a better home to look after my mum.

I cannot thank the new manager, administrator and all the staff at Tunstall for their tremendous support and care of my father. They've always gone above and beyond expectations in their professional approach to all aspects of his care and personal case studies with all involved, from the health departments,
social workers and housing officers. It means a great deal to know that he is being looked after and I would definitely recommend Tunstall Hall to anyone.

We are generally happy with the standard of care, however, the room my sister-in-law is in is not cleaned very often. Waste bins are not emptied regularly - it is most important the rubbish left by the district nurse should be disposed of immediately but it is sometimes left for two or three days. Presentation
of food should be improved, sometimes meals are jumbled up on one plate ie sandwiches, chicken and cake. Staff are very helpful and kind and it is a beautiful building. We are very happy for her to stay there.

When my mother passed away in Tunstall Hall in late September 2019, the staff were absolutely superb. 2 girls were with Mum when she passed, for which I will be eternally grateful, and the deputy manager and manager were brilliant. The deputy deserves immense praise, she was my main contact pint in
the week preceding Mum's passing and was always available with advice and support. Even came in on her only day off when Mum passed. Outstanding - can't thank them enough.

A clean and calm place. Residents appeared calm and comfortable. Couldn't fault the carers or catering and domestic staff.
Very caring people but unfortunately not enough staff to cover residents needs or people who are visiting and have a 20-minute wait at the front door. There also needs to be someone
(carer) sitting in each lounge to keep an eye on residents and calm things down when something kicks off. Definitely a staffing (or lack of) issue. The carers are excellent.

Staff at the home are great with aunty who was unsettled when she arrived. The staff member took the time to listen to my aunty and found out she liked cleaning and helping, so she arranged for my aunty to help with little tasks and she has settled so well she thinks she works there and is part of the
team. I would like to mention another staff member; his care, manner and approach are really good as is all the staff, but especially the two I have mentioned.

Tunstall is a friendly home where all the staff are kind, caring and approachable. Residents are treated with dignity and are well looked after.
Residents have a choice of menu and the food is delicious and well presented.
As a relative, I am always made I feel welcome and I am kept informed of my
relative's condition and any issues involving them.

I first came into the care sector at the age of 20 due to wanting to try a different avenue of work as I had previously worked in the mental health sector before elderly care. After working here for a while, I learnt about how small things can make a huge difference in someone’s life and after hearing some of the residents life stories and experiences, it opened my eyes into how it is a privilege to help and support others.


I love my job, as I enjoy helping others, supporting the hard working staff team and being able to make every day, a good day. I came into the care sector initially so that I could work and also be present to raise my young family and to be able to see them grow up. I have then progressed through the hierarchy and developed my skills to enable me to climb the progression ladder and make a positive change for others, as I have seen it from both sides of the coin. Every day is varied and a new challenge and I have met some amazing people throughout my career and seen some absolutely heart-warming moments and such dedication, commitment and care from the staff teams, that make me understand that there is still a lot of good in the world.
