My wife and I have assisted my sister over the past two years since my brother in law died. She had mobility issues which deteriorated recently to be too difficult to love alone. Both my father and his brother passed their final years in Lane House and both my sister and I visited them regularly in the 1990's so my sister requested that she could live there if a room was available. My wife and I find Lane House a special place, my sister is the happiest we have seen her in the past 2 years we like the friendly staff. The home is well kept and wonderful.

What a lovely place! The staff are friendly, patient and caring. The residents are happy and my mom likes it here. She feels safe and I know she is looked after in a safe environment. I am very grateful to have found somewhere to perfect for my moms needs.

My mother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in December and struggled greatly with accepting her condition, as well as with loneliness and declining mental health. We decided respite care might help and viewed two homes in Tamworth. Lane House stood out immediately.
She moved in on a Monday, and by Wednesday she was already saying she wanted to stay permanently. The transformation in her was remarkable. She settled quickly, joined in with activities, and every professional who visited commented on the positive change in her wellbeing. Six weeks later, she is happier, more engaged, and more settled than we've seen her in a long time. She is now a permanent resident and has even put her home on the market because she feels so at home.
Exceptional care homes like Lane House deserve to be talked about more. They show that moving into care doesn't have to be frightening - it can be life-changing, uplifting, and full of joy.

Thank you, Lane House. We truly cannot thank you enough

My mum was admitted to Lane House to have respite having broken her wrist at home. The care she received was first class and mum has been there as a resdient since January this year. All the carers are wonderful and the food is delicious, all fresh and home cooked on the premises. Entertainment is provided each week as well as games (bingo which they love) painting and colouring which mum really enjoys. I would thoroughly recommend Lane House to anyone. It is home from home.

Lane House is a very good example of a 'traditional' care home.
Strong points:
Room design - most rooms have doors opening onto the courtyard garden or the main garden.
Team - a stable team means that care plans are implemented well and rapport is meaningful.
Kitchen - food is cooked on-site and Mum's quirky tastes are catered for.
Staffing levels - staff work as a single team, ensuring there are enough to support residents.
Language - almost totally English as first language, really important for hard of hearing & confused.
We visited 15 homes in the area and this was equal with 1 other.

Mum went to the other home first due to availability. The results were poor, with numerous failings. We moved Mum to Lane House at the first opportunity and the difference was stark. That's where the list of strengths comes from. We sleep at night knowing Mum is safe and well looked after.

Lane House is always very clean and feels more like a hotel than care home. The staff are welcoming and friendly towards the residents. My mum who has dementia, has been living here for three years and she has always seemed well looked after and happy. The kitchen staff work hard to create tasty meals, and there are lots of activities in the lounge to keep residents busy, as well as events throughout the year.

We are very happy with the care offered to mum in Lane House. After a very difficult 3 years and traumatic treatment (or lack of!) in hospital and an assessment centre mum settled straight away. She ate within an hour of arriving having previously refused food for weeks. She co-operates with staff more than she has for years. She is clean, tidy, and well presented to us as visitors - and enjoys visits from family particularly her great grandchildren, As NOK we are kept well informed and feel she is now safe and able to be her whichever version of her se presents.

The level of care displayed at Lane House is second to none. All the staff are fantastic, have great patience and show true caring to the residents. My mother had nothing but kindness shown to her. Her room was great with a lovely garden view, fantastic on a hot day with the windows open. There is always something going on with plenty of different activities to keep the residents occupied. The home itself is spotless and always looks welcoming. My mother really did have a great time in your care.

On first impressions the home appears to be lovely, well decorated, clean and the bedrooms look comfortable. Unfortunately the care afforded to my mother did not reflect this. I was extremely disappointed and quite frankly traumatised with how she was treated. Some staff appeared to try, but generally communication was virtually none existent especially from management. I would urge anyone to think carefully before sending a loved one here!

Dear Reviewer,

We are disappointed to receive this review, considering all the serious allegations have been proven false, thus being closed down by the safeguarding team, and this review was subsequently posted after the verdict was made. It has been 10 months since your mum left Lane House...

My mom loves it at Lane House, we were really worried about how she would settle in but to our surprise she loves it!

The carers are all lovely and really look after her and all the other residents. They treat her with respect and dignity, nothing is too much for them, even when they are rushed off their feet. The two ladies who do the activities are brilliant too and this home has very good management. The food is homemade and Mom loves it!

On Friday 14th July 2023 my dad moved into Lane House after a stay in hospital and a family decision that Dad needed 24-hour care, it was not a decision we wanted to make but my goodness it was surely the right one! Dad is thriving, he’s putting on weight, eating better, has company all day, can reside in his own beautiful room if he so chooses! I asked Dad if he was happy and he said “yes”, he is feeling “more at ease everyday!” All members of staff from management to care assistants to catering to entertainment to maintenance to housekeeping are all so approachable, nothing is too much trouble! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me the chance to be my dad's “daughter” again! I can sleep at night knowing he is in the best possible hands! Keep up the good work!

The manager was friendly, informative and welcoming from the onset, putting all our worries and concerns at ease. From day one, person centered care was a priority for Dad.
Ongoing activities are constant, which are fun filled and stimulating. Dad is always well dressed, clean and groomed whilst shown dignity and respect from staff who behave natural and friendly in their approach.
Lane House has a home from home ambience, it is clean, fresh, inviting and has a natural, warm and homely feeling. Residents are encouraged to utilise their remaining skills and be independent, where possible, engaging in activities like cooking. Visitors are always made to feel welcome.
Management and staff are very supportive providing help, advice and are always on hand to address any questions or concerns.

A very special thank you to management and staff for their efficiency in providing necessary, diligent, attentive care, at such a high standard. Lane House, highly recommended.
