Well staffed by people who care.
It's refreshing that any problems experienced by my mum are bought to my attention by the staff who have already taken appropriate action instead of me having to inform them.

My Mom has been a resident for nearly six months and I cannot fault Meadowfields at all. The staff are always welcoming and attentive, and there is always a feeling of warmth and homeliness. Lots of activities for Mom to get involved in and all members of staff know her and her likes and dislikes. Her
room feels like home from home and is always immaculately clean. Mom is always happy when I visit and is laughing and joking with staff and residents.
Couldn't recommend it enough!

We cannot fault the care that mum has received at Meadowfields. Mum came in for emergency respite care, so the whole situation was new to us and very distressing. From start to finish the staff have been wonderful, mum has settled so well and has made new friends and involved herself fully in all the
activities on offer. The home is spotlessly clean and more like a hotel than a care home. Thank you to everyone involved in mums care, for looking after her so well, and for the great kindness you have shown to her.
Reply from Alex Hartles, Operations Manager at Meadowfields Care Home

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful feedback. We're so pleased to hear that your mum has settled in well, especially during what must have been a challenging time. The care home always smells nice on arrival, the staff are always very welcoming.
The residents are given a monthly planner so they can choose the activities, these can include flower arranging, music and fitness to name a few. My mum enjoys having her hair done there too. It is a lovely care home
and it gives me comfort to know my mum is being well catered for.

From my initial visit to Ashcroft, I was most impressed by how very pleasant all the staff were. The telephone was answered straight away. Also the carers were exceptionally good. There was always a knock on the door before entering. To start with, my sister was lying in bed, eating practically nothing
but within her 7 weeks living with you, she went to the opposite - close to death to fit & well. The meals were good & plentiful, probably the most difficult thing for any 'patient' is to be washed by a stranger, at Ashcroft the carer would soap the flannel & then turn away while they washed private parts - with utmost dignity & respect. Thank you.

My brother moved into The Firs Care Home June 2024 due to his mobility and age-related issues, being 92 years. He adapted quite good with the excellent support of staff and care workers for which I am thankful. It was his own choice moving into care the home care system was not working for him. I shall
be eternally grateful to all the staff at The Firs he has had various setbacks with his health but they have always sorted him out one way or another. Thank you all at The Firs Care Home. Good bless you all.

My experience of The Firs Care Home has been a very positive one. The staff are excellent. The Firs is the best I've seen, fabulous care and attention, beautifully decorated, and spotlessly clean. My auntie has settled well, due to management and staff encouragement. Love the fact that staff put in so much effort and go the extra mile. The only thing my auntie has commented on is that she
thinks at times it's understaffed.

I have been delighted with the standard of care provided by the Firs since moving my mother here in November 2024. The home is extremely well run -the Manager's calm and caring approach pervades the whole care home and all staff encountered so far have been exemplary. Nothing is too much trouble and
any issues arising are dealt with promptly and efficiently. All administration is taken care of superbly well. This is an extremely well run home that has a friendly, family type atmosphere at all times. Residents are encouraged to participate in the wide range of daily activities on offer with regular events , such as bonfire night and fairs, run for the families of residents and the local community. The facilities are excellent -clean, well taken care of and maintained through planned refurbishment.
I looked at a great number of Care homes in the area before deciding on the Firs. I am delighted with my choice.
I cannot recommend the Firs highly enough and do so without reservation.

Visit regularly (weekly) for an hour or two always welcomed with a smile from the staff. If time permits they will stop for a brief chat and let us know if there is anything significant to respect. Place is always clean and tidy even with all the internal improvements ongoing at the moment. My sister
has a poor appetite but they all try to find something she might like and always make sure she is drinking plenty. All considered this is a very caring residential care home.
