This care/nursing home was allocated via the NHS/CHC assessment process. So that cost was funded by the NHS. I found this home to be extremely adaquate and the staff were excellent in caring for my wife. Some of the ratings are not applicable due to my wife's condition, she was unable to participate.

Thank you so much for the kindness and love you demonstrated to my mum and my dad, when mum was a resident in Goldendale. Staff in general were lovely and a couple of notable ones were absolutely wonderful. Mum had a peaceful, gentle end of life with the support of staff who she clearly thought so fondly
of - her eyes lit up with joy when they came to attend to her. It was also evident that the feeling was mutual given how sad staff were when she passed away. We will never forget this as a family.

My father-in-law recently came to Goldendale care home due to him being mistreated at his previous care home. Myself my partner and his wife come visit him near enough every day and we are extremely pleased with the care he receives and the whole appearance and quality of care he's been receiving. It
was lovely to find out that the Registered nurse at Goldendale was now here looking after him as we had previously met her while he went into respite for the first time at another previous home. She is a lovely caring person who always goes the extra mile with residents and their families.

We moved my late father into the home with terminal cancer. Right from the start the home were nothing short of fantastic. Whilst it took dad a while to settle in, the staff were more than accommodating and very quickly dad settled in for an all too brief spell. Although dad was only there for around
4 weeks the staff and management made his last four weeks as comfortable and as pain free as possible. They were amazing.

My father was cared for in the nursing wing of the home during what turned out to be the last 4 weeks of his life. Throughout this time he received exemplary care. Every member of staff treated him with respect and dignity, listening to and seeking to meet his physical and often his emotional needs.
His room was maintained to a good standard and the staff enabled him to incorporate personal items to make it feel more like home.
I would wholly recommend Goldendale.

Our lovely dad received the most excellent care whilst he resided in Goldendale Home for almost five years. Our mum had peace of mind knowing that Dad was safe and well cared for. I remember when a resident sadly passed away and one of the lovely care staff said, "they are like our family it's so sad
when they pass away." What a lovely thing to say, for me it summed up Goldendale, friendly wonderful, caring staff who enjoyed what can be a challenging but rewarding job. They knew the family by name and always welcomed us into the home. Dad had Alzheimer's and we know he didn't always want to be washed or get dressed and might swing his arms around as if to say leave me alone. How brilliantly the staff managed this and provided exceptional care. As a family we would not hesitate to recommend this lovely home to someone for their loved one's care. Sadly our dad passed away recently but was surrounded by wonderful, caring people. Thank you to the Goldendale family.

My mum was a resident at Goldendale House for nearly two years. In that time she was looked after and respected by the staff. Any issues with Mum's health or care were reported to me immediately. The last few months of Mum's life became more demanding, but the staff were there for her. I had 100% trust
in the staff and home manager.

My uncle was made to feel welcome from the very first day. It is a bright and welcoming home where he feels safe and cared for. The staff are always cheerful and helpful and take time to get to know the residents. It has taken a weight off my mind knowing that he is well looked after.

Goldendale House is a great care home for both Mum and Dad. They are caring and genuinely 'bothered' about the well-being of the people in their care. The medical care and food are very good and the communication is excellent. The staff are lovely and very compassionate.
For the extra star, Goldendale
need someone to fill the activities position and ensure the residents get fresh air when possible in the rear yard.
Great care though!

My father-in-law has resided at Goldendale House Care Home now since September 2021, I have nothing but high praise for the management team and all staff at the home. My father-in-law feels safe and is happy, we never say when we are visiting, staff are always polite and have time for family members,
he always appears well groomed with clean clothes and comfortable.
100% happy with the service.
Thank you Goldendale House.

Goldendale House is a wonderful care home. The staff are warm and friendly and go above and beyond to make sure my Dad is well cared for.
I’m always kept well informed of his health and if Dad is ever unwell, the staff let me know immediately, which is very reassuring. They also let me know of activities
and events he takes part in.
Whenever I see Dad, he always has a smile on his face and he seems very happy. And that means the world to me.
I couldn’t wish for Dad to be in a better place. Thank you to all the amazing team at Goldendale.

My mother was transferred to Goldendale in January 2017 from hospital for a 6-week review and remained until she sadly passed away on 15.1.21 whilst in their care. My mother received excellent care, was treated with dignity and compassion by all the wonderful staff. Over the last few weeks the care
my mother received from staff whilst sadly at end of life was above and beyond what was expected and as a family, we are eternally grateful for looking after our loved one so well.

Goldendale House is a modern and well set out care home with plenty of light and space. It is kept spotlessly clean throughout, with new en-suite bedrooms. It has a family atmosphere with all the staff being very friendly, informative and caring. We are kept well informed of anything to do with my Mum
and feel confident that she is being looked after properly.

Goldendale is so caring with all the staff taking the time to get to know my Grandma in the short time she has been in there. Activities are regular and the photos on social media help us through this time where we can’t visit. They have even facilitated calls and are always willing to do this for us
despite there being a lot of us calling! Thank you!

All the staff looked after my mother with great care and affection. We have not seen my mother since Lockdown in March, we didn’t come when visiting was allowed because, with the restrictions as we thought it would be too traumatic both for my mother and for us. She has dementia and struggles to recognise
us as her family. So we are very grateful for the staff and depend on them to keep her comfortable. We have regular updates and look forward to a better time when we can come to visit and just sit and hold her hand. Until then we put our trust in your dedicated staff.
Reply from Emma Rodger, General Manager at Goldendale House

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am so sorry that you have not taken the opportunity to visit in our safe pods as, despite the restrictions, many of our residents and relative have really enjoyed the safe visit. However, we fully understand individual circumstances and decisions and it is an absolute pleasure to care for your mother.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.596)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.596) out of 10 for Goldendale House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.844 for Goldendale House is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 90 Ratings = 4.844
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.752 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Goldendale House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.952
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Buster is a very much loved and well-known character at Goldendale house to all residents and families he is part of our family here. You may see Buster moving around the home greeting families at reception or lying in the lounge with residents.

Pet therapy in care homes can increase social interaction not just with the animals but also between other residents. It gives residents something to look forward to, comment on and discuss together in a way that often helps to break down barriers.

Interacting with pet animals can unlock hidden memories of cats, dogs and other creatures that may have been part of the lives of elderly residents in the past. Even when these former encounters can’t be put into words, their joy can often be seen in participants’ faces.
