Thank goodness we chose this care home for Mum. There is no other place I would want her to be. The staff are amazing with Mum, as I know, at times, she can be very difficult with her dementia, especially of late. they treat her with love, respect and dignity. An awesome care home. I will always be
eternally grateful to each and every staff member.

The carers are always polite and helpful. I am kept informed about my father-in-law’s health and general situation. I feel confident that my father-in-law is well looked after and enjoys a good standard of living in the home. The home itself is bright, clean and well maintained.

The staff make this care home truly a home away from home. Their dedication to their duties is faultless. My mother was in a different care home for several years, prior to moving into The Elms. The difference in the two homes is massive with The Elms being 5* against the previous one, being one star.
Mum was not very well when admitted to The Elms but the top-quality care, wonderful yummy, hearty nutritious meals and encouragement and friendship from staff, has made an amazing difference. It has been a very difficult year but the whole team of staff have made my mum's life as good as possible, whilst embracing the many restrictions. I truly believe that had my mum not changed homes, I would be dealing with a very different scenario. If I was asked to rate The Elms, I would rate it 100%. The management is outstanding.

My partner came to The Elms from the hospital after having a stroke. The staff are very welcoming and friendly to my partner and also myself. My partner has been cared for extremely well and I would recommend The Elms to anyone. The manager and staff have done an excellent job under difficult circumstances
with Covid19.

My wife has been a resident at The Elms since August 2018. In November 2019 she had a stroke and was only given a few weeks to live; as she could not swallow properly and was suffering from severe dementia. However, due to the excellent care provided by The Elms, my wife is still alive and being cared
for in a very professional and person-centred fashion. All the staff are so kind and caring and being led by a lovely, thoughtful and responsive Manager. I could not imagine my wife being cared for by any other provider. I'm in my 90's myself, I have no hesitation to enter The Elms as a new resident when the time comes. The food and activities are so carefully created to ensure a diverse range of stimulus for the residents. The home itself has a lovely feeling of being in your own home when entering it, and the rooms are decorated to a high standard. The Elms always updates the families and are very transparent on the residents care. The home is keeping residents safe during the pandemic.

The care given to all the residents is outstanding, especially during the pandemic. They have kept in contact with me regularly about my aunty. Telling me when they have needed the doctor/nurse to her. I was asked about the Covid-19 vaccines given to her.
When I was able to visit, the home is always
clean and extremely welcoming. The food given to them is wonderful (I’ve even had meals there).
Plenty of cups of tea throughout the day.
I highly recommend The Elms.

My father has been living at The Elms since 2017, and we could not wish for a better place for him to be living.
All the staff are so welcoming and caring.
He really feels like it is his home.
The rooms are homely and always clean and tidy, as are all the communal rooms.
I have complete peace of
mind that my father is safe and well looked after.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.480)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.480) out of 10 for The Elms is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.830 for The Elms is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.83
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Elms is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
