My mother was looked after in the home for 8 months until she died. The staff were compassionate and cheerful in looking after her, despite her sometimes being stubborn and appearing to be unappreciative in the early months. For the last week of her life they were exceptionally kind, attentive and showed
my sister and myself great care and support too. Thanks to their care, Mum died peacefully and comfortably and because we were kept informed throughout, we were able to have a last visit with Mum before she died, which meant so much to us.
I can't thank the staff enough for looking after us all and being so supportive when we most needed it....and it's so comforting knowing that Mum couldn't have been in a better place during her difficult final months.

As a family, I feel that we are receiving an exceptional experience at Springwood House. The activities are stimulating and help to keep my parents physically and mentally active as they get older. The warmth and professionalism of all the staff is wonderful. They treat each resident with great respect,
dignity and care. The owners of Springwood House continually go above and beyond to meet the needs of the families they take care of. I cannot recommend Springwood House more highly to anyone! The attention, care and trust people receive is second to none and I trust them implicitly with taking care of my own parents so well.
It's a home-from-home!

During 2021, I was faced with the dilemma of trying to find the right home for my 93-year-old mum, which was daunting, particularly when Covid was still around! I had visited many homes within Derbyshire, but each one I was disillusioned to find the right one for Mum, as I said that my mum wouldn't
be going anywhere where I wouldn't go myself. When I visited Springwood Care Home and was greeted by the owners/directors, who are the third generation family running this beautiful home, I knew I had found the ideal place for Mum!
My mum resided there for two years, and the management and staff were amazing. Nothing too much trouble, always caring, kind and willing to help in every way.
The many varied activities that they organised were amazing; exercise classes, cooking, gardening, singing, and poetry. The food was all home cooked and delicious.
My mum loved it there; she loved all the staff and particularly enjoyed the rapport with the boys serving tea. A first-class home.

Springwood House is a wonderful home for the residents. My mum moved in a year ago this week and loves it. It’s not a big home, and it has a lovely family feel. The owners and staff care so well for the residents that it feels more like a country retreat! It’s situated in wonderful grounds with fantastic
views, and the garden is perfect for the residents to enjoy - they also do a little gardening and growing of plants with the staff. There are daily activities on offer ranging from chair yoga, baking, crafts, and quizzes, right up to concerts and visits from children from local schools to some rather interesting creatures that sometimes visit to cuddle.
The rooms are lovely with individual characters, and the food is cooked in-house from scratch every day (always wish I could stay as it smells so good).
Great care is taken of all residents health-wise, which has been wonderful in these difficult times. I would strongly recommend Springwood House to anyone looking for a home for their loved ones.

I cannot compliment this team enough. they look after our grandmother so beautifully. I was so stressed every day she was living at home because she wasn’t safe or healthy, but within two weeks of her moving into Springwood, she was happier and healthier than she had been in years. The girls that run
Springwood are wonderful and are starting to feel like a part of our family. I would recommend Springwood to absolutely anyone.

The main, out of many, best thing about Springwood House is its management and carers. They are all knowledgeable, well-trained, caring, kind, and lovely. I’ve yet to find a below-par, or even just average one.
They look after/ care for the residents so well, so thoughtfully and so kindly.
And this
is in spite of how phenomenally difficult this line of work has been since March 2020.

As a working GP, this is the best home I have ever visited - we were so lucky to find it for our mother. It is exceptional - like an old country house hotel with wrap-around care. She had her own furniture and possessions, so her room felt like a capsule of her own home. The food is top-notch on home
cooking. The care is respectful and dignified. The owners and staff became ours and our mother's friends. Ultimately, our mother had a very dignified death. She could not have been supported and looked after better.

My mother has been living in Springwood for two years now. She has been very happy. Everyone of the staff is pleasant, friendly and professional. They go above and beyond with their caring. My mother has enjoyed the many activities on offer, especially the poetry group and the visiting singers, jazz
bands and animals. From day one, she has said the food is excellent. Well done, Springwood.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.262)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.262) out of 10 for Springwood House Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.900 for Springwood House Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.9
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.362 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Springwood House Residential Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.8 = 0.862
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
