I find the care I have received 1st class in every respect.
I would have no hesitation in spending my last days here.

My stay was for respite care following a hospital stay. I could not fault the service and care readily provided. The staff of all grades could not be more helpful, willing and above all friendly. any request, no matter how trivial, was dealt with promptly and efficiently. I was particularly impressed
by the high standard of maintenance of the building especially the decoration taking into account the high occupancy.

Review from Alex F (Grandson of Resident) published on 4 July 2018 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My grandma had a really bad fall which meant she had to go into temporary residential care. We had been recommended Springwood House and had no hesitation about my grandma going there after meeting the staff and management. The best commendation I can give to Springwood House is that my grandma decided
she wanted to stay there permanently after just two weeks of their care. She had made friends, is constantly involved in activities (Royal Wedding parties, summer parties) and has thrived physically and mentally under the care of the manager and her team. Her room is stunning, looking out over the Derwent Valley and the staff are so welcoming that you don't feel like you're in a care home (we always get brought drinks, cakes and biscuits). They're a fabulous, experienced team who are full of humour and personality. The chef would also win bake-off with eyes closed and her hands tied behind her back. Springwood House made a very difficult decision very easy for the whole family. Thank you.

My mother's experience has been and continues to be a positive one. The staff are polite, respectful and kind. They genuinely and sincerely get to know the residents and their families, working with them to create the best environment for the residents. The staff treat the residents with dignity and
respect. There is NEVER any unpleasant odours, the home is like a home from home and they organise activities and events for the residents to enjoy. The grounds are kept very well maintained for the staff and residents to enjoy. Bedrooms are well equipped and fresh - the whole home is kept clean. The food is very good and nutritious. Mobile beauticians and hairdressers.

and health is very detailed and available.

Springwood House is a beautiful place and I have been made to feel so welcome from my very first day. The staff and care are both excellent and there is always someone willing to help me deal with letters and other personal matters. I would strongly recommend Springwood House to anyone thinking of moving
to a care home, it has certainly made me feel better knowing that someone is always there.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.581)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.581) out of 10 for Springwood House Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.881 for Springwood House Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.881
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Springwood House Residential Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
