Douglas Court is a family-run, award-winning care home providing affordable quality care based within close proximity to Derby city centre providing easy access to bus stops, train station and local amenities.

A friendly, well-trained team ensure high standards of residential and dementia care in a comfortable, caring and compassionate environment.

Resident happiness and well-being is at the heart of the home and dedicated activity coordinators provide a daily fun, engaging and stimulating social programme designed to encourage residents to lead a fulfilled, happy and enriched life.

In the dementia care suites, residents have access to sensory areas, reminiscence activities and memory boxes. A minibus, means residents frequently get out and about on day trips to places of local interest.

The purpose-built home has a range of large comfortable bedrooms and spacious communal lounges. Home-cooked meals are served in a dining room overlooking the pleasant landscaped sensory garden, which also has a patio seating area and an aviary.

I read that Douglas Court was getting top marks year after year so when I was ready for respite I said I would put my husband in Douglas Court for 2 weeks, he enjoyed it so much, I would not hesitate to put him in there again. Staff are so friendly and the patients are their number one priority. I will
put 10/10 for Douglas Court.

Always made very welcome when visiting any time of the day. Staff always polite, helpful and caring. Management keep family informed of any health/social problems. Whole atmosphere in Douglas Court friendly and warm. Activities seen were appropriate and enjoyable for residents. Outside entertainment
and special events (Halloween) were excellent.

At a stressful time with my father (he had just has a serious chest infection which brought on dementia) when we did not know which way to turn we heard from third parties about Douglas Court. Their professionalism, compassion and understanding of both my fathers needs and our concerns for his future
life were met and are constantly being reassessed and met as needed. We as a family are over whelmed by all the staff kindness, consideration and compassion in their day to day duties. The home appears to have an amazing ethos and their care extends not only to the residents but their family also. To all Douglas Court staff- Thank you very much!

My mother-in-law came to stay at Douglas Court Care Home, Derby in July 2013 and settled in straight away, when dementia took hold and she could no longer care for herself. The care she had at Douglas Court was second to none. The manager and her team were more than carers right up to her final moments
when she passed away there on 17/11/15. She was treated with utmost dignity and respect by all the staff and would highly recommend this care home.

My experience of Douglas Court care home is in my opinion a well equipped, very flexible care home. My father who is a resident receives the excellent care required in his environment and although I live in the Greater London area I am in constant communication with the staff, as I am also a shift worker.
At all times the staff are very caring, considerate and polite and nothing is never any bother or hindrance. As a family we are all satisfied with the level of care my father/husband and grandparent receives and in my opinion the management admin and the carers are so kind and caring and compassionate. I have observed the staff during their duties with the residents and their dedication to the care and dignity of the residents is excellent!! As a son I am extremely pleased my father is a resident of Douglas Court.

The care which my mother has received over the past year has been exemplary. What is impressive is:-
a) The focus on safety.
b) The way each member of staff knows and engages with ALL the idiosyncrasies, whims and needs of each resident: from what they like to talk about to what the want to wear
or eat or do.
c) The team work. No member of staff seem to need to be told what to do or when. They each address the task in front of them whatever that is. There is a good spirit among them. They make the residents, the staff and the visitors seem like one family.
d) The management are at the same time firm to maintain the standards but also strive to improve them. They are efficient but do not shy away from criticism. Indeed they embrace it and action it if sensible.
As a family we looked after our mother till she was 97 as we could not find anywhere that we felt was good enough for the lady who was so special in our lives and to whom we owed so much. Discovering Douglas Court was a game changer. We are very happy with the care she receives and can rest in the knowledge that not only is it excellent value it is also the best available.

My aunt had been resident at Douglas Court for almost 4 years. From the first time I visited the home until my last visit this week, I have always been impressed by the exceptional way the home is run. The manager and her team have been nothing short of brilliant. The care, love, support and attention
they provide is second to none and they should be very proud of the service they deliver. Given the nature of their business I am very impressed how this home is run and the exceptional level of secureness, communication and comfort they provide. Every time I visit the home has a "vibrant buzz" about it, even though there are elderly people to care for. I know that I made the right choice of care home 4 years ago and would recommend the home to anyone. Thanks to the manager and her team. A real pleasure to have known.
