Visiting

  • Visitors are asked to call at least 30 minutes before arriving to let staff know when they plan to visit. This helps ensure the resident they are visiting is available and not away on a trip, with other visitors, or at an appointment.

They should be aware that visits can no longer take place in communal lounge areas. This change is to protect residents’ privacy and to keep walkways clear throughout the day. All visits must take place either in the resident’s bedroom or in alternative areas such as the dining room (outside of meal times) or the tea room.

Visitors are encouraged to understand that the home is busy, so calling ahead, avoiding visit times during lunch, and keeping visits to appropriate rooms helps the home run smoothly. They are welcome to book lunch with the home or take their relative out any day of the week.

Upon arrival, visitors must sign in using the iPad in the foyer, providing accurate details of who they are visiting. This information is essential so staff can locate them quickly in the event of a fire. Visitors must also sign out when leaving.

Parking

  • Parking can be found in the Main Front Car Park (6 spaces) or round the Rear Entrance (staff are able to guide you to this). You may also park on Bell Lane, please however do not park on bends/corners where 'No Parking' signs are clearly stated.

Such a wonderful place to be. The home is always full of warmth and cheer. The staff are so friendly, supportive, welcoming, caring and compassionate.
Everyone is treated as an individual first and foremost. They provide support not only to the residents but also colleges, families and friends.
They
go above and beyond to ensure that everyone is treated in a person centred manner. Seeing beyond a persons medical, physical challenges to ensure that everyone is treated with the upmost respect.
Having been a family member of a former resident I have returned to support others as it is such a friendly, welcoming, supportive and place to be.
From the activities team who are always looking for ways to enrich residents daily lives by trips to garden centres, visits from singers, local school children visiting, baking sessions, quizzes, arts and crafts to just spending time listing to residents talk about their memories nothing is too much.

As a fairly regular visitor to Brook House, I never fail to be amazed by the constant love, care, compassion and imagination to keep the residents entertained and happy.
The cleanliness is of a very high standard and despite the feeling that they can seem understaffed, they all do their best to attend
to all the residents needs.
There never seems to be a dull moment. It's
obvious that the staff are well aware of the importance of keeping everyone stimulated, which is not easy.
All I can say is keep up the good work everyone.

Mum has been a resident at Brook House for nearly three years now and I cannot fault the care she has received. The staff are all wonderful - kind, caring and compassionate - and the home is exceptionally well-led. I am kept informed of any concerns with Mum's health and welfare (which have been very
few in the time she has been there) and appropriate steps have always been taken by the staff to address these.
Brook House runs great enrichment activities for the residents and although Mum's dementia has progressed she is still encouraged to participate where she can which is lovely to see.
Her room at Brook House is warm and comfortable as are the residents' lounges; the home cooked food is tasty and nourishing. When a parent has dementia and needs full time residential care it is so reassuring to know they are well looked after. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Brook House to anyone considering residential care for a loved one - five stars across the board from me.

I cannot speak highly enough of the care at Brook House. They operate with the highest of standards whilst maintaining a genuine family atmosphere. The attention to detail for individual needs is second to none. They are not only superb with day to day care; cleanliness, excellent home cooked meals,
activities etc but they pull out all the stops when ill health strikes. My father suffered a stroke, which was detected early by the attentive carers, which gave him the best chance for a good recovery. The after care he received vastly improved his recovery. As his dementia progressed, his care was adapted to meet his needs, whilst still being super supportive, kind, encouraging and respecting his dignity. Brook House is led by an amazing leadership team and their genuine care spreads throughout the home. When visiting, it is like seeing friends, from the housekeeping side to the carers and office. I have always felt I can ask for advice on any matter. 10/10 from me

I can not recommend Brook House enough. The staff are wonderful and I never had to worry that my mum would be cared for with anything other than dignity and kindness. Several different relatives went to visit her and they always made a point to contact me afterwards to comment on how well looked after
and happy she was there.
She sadly passed in November ('25) after a long battle with Alzheimer's but I so pleased she saw out her life in such a lovely environment. They organised for her to have her hair done every week and for a chiropodist. They took her to the garden centre for afternoon tea and on various outings and bought a lovely card and chocolates for her birthday. Whenever I visited the room and other areas were always clean and the food looked and smelt delicious.
As a relative of a resident, choosing the best place for your loved one feels daunting. I wish I could have cared for her myself but I feel confident that Brook House was the next best thing. Thank you to you all!

Choosing a new home for your loved one is not an easy decision, however it was one that was made in agreement with grandad to ensure his safety was prioritised. The compassion, care, kindness, patience & inclusivity is second to none. While anxious & apprehensive, grandad was welcomed into your home as
one of the family, thus you became part of ours It's refreshing to walk in to an environment in which you are openly welcomed by both staff & residents. It's evident the Brook House team are dedicated to person-centred care, promoting & encouraging independence through regular activities, frequent outings, singalongs, pet therapy, games and more. Each & every one of you have taken the time to connect with grandad, whether it be having a conversation about his passion in cars or allowing him to get stuck into the gardening! I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for ensuring grandad is happy, safe, well fed & watered, smartly presented & comfortable. We're privileged to be part of the BH family

Mum has been at Brook House for one year now and we could not be happier. It was a difficult decision to move Mum to residential care, but not only is she safe and well looked after, she is really enjoying the company of the staff and other residents. A lot of thought goes into ensuring there are interesting
activities and trips but it is the overall ambience of the home and the staff who are so welcoming and cheerful that makes Brook House so special.

My mother initially moved to Brook House for emergency respite care when she became unwell. The move was very sudden and distressing for her, having lived independently until she was 90. The staff were kind and considerate helping her to adjust and settle in. They were also very supportive of my sister
and me as we were upset that we had not managed to look after Mum at home. We were always welcomed when we visited and given regular updates on how Mum was settling in. When it became clear that Mum would have to stay for longer than a couple of weeks she was able to move to a slightly bigger room that was brighter and had easier access to the ensuite facilities. We really appreciated this. Mum continues to be well cared for. The staff listen to our requests and are always kind and supportive.

My mother has been a resident at Brooke House Care Home for nine months and in that time, she has been extremely well looked after. All the staff at the home are very well-trained with a lot of care and attention given to the needs of the residents who get treated with the dignity and respect you would
expect from such an excellent care home. I couldn't wish for a better or safer environment in which to look after my mother, helping her to enjoy her later years as much as she possibly can.

My mother stayed at Brook House for 6 weeks, post-fall recovery, with very little notice my mother was admitted. The home manager and the managing director were extremely helpful with the admission.
On visiting my mother, the staff were very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, my mom said
all the staff were extremely helpful, the meals were restaurant quality, support with personal care needs was with privacy, dignity and respect, activity and reablement were very good.
Overall, I would highly recommend Brook House to my family, friends and the local community. In my opinion, Brook House is outstanding with its care delivery and attention to detail.

Mum felt she had made a new family whilst she was at Brook House for respite care. The love and care she received got her back on her feet and back to her flat.
Brook House is super clean, organised, friendly, it has multiple areas inside and out for everyone to enjoy, it's welcoming to visitors,
the food is delicious and there are plenty of activities. The staff are lovely, they work so well together and make every effort for each individual's well-being. Mum had a very happy time there.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.913)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.913) out of 10 for Brook House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.938 for Brook House is calculated as follows: ( (213 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 227 Ratings = 4.938
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brook House is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
