Sadly, my father passed away in November 25. I cannot praise the staff who supported my father highly enough. Their compassion and support for our family was exceptional and we will be forever in their debt . The senior staff and management were knowledgable, kind and considerate throughout his time living there. If you are looking for a care home with both humanity and highly skilled staff then Harvey House should be visited and considered . A big thank you to everyone who frequently went the extra mile to support a much loved man.

Thankyou so much for your lovely feedback. It was an honour to look after your father, he was such a lovely man who definitely left his print in the home and with the staff.

My mother came into Harvey House in a d2a and it was decided she liked it. My first experience was ringing to check my mum has arrived to be told short staffed haven't got time to ring you. When visiting never in her clothes another resident wearing her slippers. Given shoes 3 sizes to big even though unsteady on her feet. I queried with a carer why her feet were so swollen, after she put her mobile phone down told me the gp had been but nothing documented.
I took my mum home for fear that staying there any longer would have been horrendous.
I have had no contact from the home since my mum left and I still have none of her belongings that went missing
Also the lift was broken fir over 4 weeks so unless you were able to tackle the poorly equipped stairs stuck where you were

Very poor management as no contact or apology about clothing as mentioned numerous times to care staff. I found care staff sat with shoes off on a table on their phone residents had no drinks.

Dad has been at Harvey House for almost five months after a spell in hospital. Generally he has been happy in his decision to give up living independently in his home. The staff are always friendly and always respond to requests regarding his care. After asking to move him downstairs this was done as soon as it was possible. His room is small and has regular bedding change, but his own clothes very rarely get returned from the laundry even through they were all named we have mentioned this on several occasions to staff and checked in the laundry but they never seem to turn up, therefore when we visit he is rarely wearing his own clothes. in the first week he lost his coat which has never been found, also to date he has lost two pairs of glasses. Dad is self funding at the moment but still has to provide all his personal care toiletries, and we feel the home is in need of updating, the lift is always out of order and there is very often a problem with the washing machines or driers.

Finding the right care home for our mum, who has dementia, was one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make - but from the moment she arrived here, we knew we'd made the right choice.

The staff have been nothing short of incredible. They treat Mum with such patience, respect, and genuine love. Even on her more difficult days, they never lose their warmth or kindness. It's clear they understand dementia not just clinically, but emotionally - they truly see the person behind the illness.

We've watched Mum grow more settled and content than we thought possible. She smiles more, and she's surrounded by people who truly care for her. The home is clean, calm, and filled with compassion - it feels more like a family than a facility.

We can never fully express how much it means to know she's in such safe and loving hands. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Mum appears to be well looked after but feel over the past few months her care has not been as consistent as it was. Perhaps due to new staff or understaffed, I couldn't say. Staff are friendly and if I ask a question a problem or query is dealt with - but should I need to ask?
The property itself needs a bit of TLC and money spent on it, not just the outside but also some of the residents' rooms which can be poor quality.

Overall we know she is safe and generally well looked after which is why she is still there.

My mum is a very private person and sometimes struggles with being in the home. The staff care and treat Mum with the utmost dignity. They go beyond, they chat to her and when she's having a bad day really try to get to what the problem is. In August Mum was gravely ill with doctors suggesting that she went to the hospital, giving end of life care Mum did not want to go! The doctor then said the hospital would make her too anxious. The staff without doubt cared and loved and Mum is getting ready for Christmas. The cake they made for her 94th was brilliant. They know and love my mum dearly. Cannot thank them enough. Xxk

Since Mum moved into Harvey House last year I have nothing but praise for all the staff. They have been supportive, caring and helpful. Even after Mum's care needs have changed quickly over the last year, the staff and home have done everything to help make her comfortable. It's a safe environment and as a family we can relax knowing Mum is happy, safe and extremely well cared for.

The care and support my mum has received since being in Harvey House has been a high standard of care, they are always kind and treat residents with respect.
They are always welcoming to family members and friends and help with any issues raised promptly.
My mum always says the meals are good and she is in better health since being at Harvey House.

Rooms need an update and the exterior of the building needs some TLC but everywhere always looks hygienically spotless.

Over the last ten months, I found excellent care and improved mobility, and all staff were very caring and courteous. Residents' welfare is a priority to all members of staff. A clean and very well-kept care home. Excellent food and service, very safe for all residents.

I can relax at home and know my wife of 56 years is being well looked after and is safe.

On a visit after the home had to reduce access due to a staff member and a resident tested positive for Covid, I was allowed to visit as an essential carer.

I had to prove evidence of LFT being done and had to wear appropriate PPE! The staff were also aware this event would add to Mum's confusion but were managing this well.

My mother spent the last four years of her life in Harvey House following a diagnosis of dementia and her general fraility which led to her having many falls. I cannot praise the care that she received during her time at Harvey house enough. The staff cared for her every need.

She was treated with respect and affection and I know that the improvement in her health which followed her move there was down to their meticulous work. As her memory deteriorated further the activities on offer provided stimulation which gave glimpses of her in younger days. I will ever be grateful for the care they gave and the way that she was able to end her life peacefully. The staff were extremely supportive of my father when he visited my mother during these four years and cared equally well for him in the last 7 weeks of his life, when he was able to join her in Harvey House.

My father is very happy in Harvey House. We have had a few issues since my father moved in, these have been dealt with to our satisfaction. However, some of them could have been avoided. For example, my father is on a special diet. Sometimes one member of staff would give him the wrong food and it has been known that another staff member has taken this food off him, against his will. This leads him to go on a hunger strike for the rest of the day. I feel that most of the issues here arise from a lack of training/order. There is a lot of passing the book when questioned. Although we feel that most of the staff are helpful, caring and good at their job, some of the staff are unprofessional and can be rude at times.

Personally, I would not want to reside at Harvey House in my old age.

Extremely pleased with the way the staff treat mother, very caring and professional. I'm always asked if I would like a drink and nothing is too much trouble when I enquire about mother’s general health. I feel she is treated with the utmost dignity. The food always looks amazing too. Well done to all concerned.

Since my mother entered Harvey House, I have nothing but praise for the staff and management. I am regularly updated on any health issues arising. I witness that she is clean, well-kept, fed, clothed and interacted with, far better than I was able to cope with at home. As her needs have changed, such changes have been acted on swiftly to maximise her independence and preserve her dignity. The continuity of staffing is vital and provides me with peace of mind.
