Review of Thurn Court from K G (Cousin of Resident) published on 3 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Sadly My Cousin died on Saturday 11th July. She had lived at Thurn Court Residential Home for just over 2 years. The care and support she and her family received was excellent. The staff are all caring, supportive and friendly. The only downside is the condition of the home both inside and outside extensive repairs and decoration is needed. Nice outdoor area. Nice furniture, curtains etc. This does not reflect on the staff they work hard

Reply from Mary Mika, Manager at Thurn Court

Review of Arbor House from E Y (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

What an excellent team! We saw some awful care homes so we know that Arbor House is a real find. They understand Dementia and they make life as fun as they can. It was Mums birthday this week and the whole atmosphere was one of a party and singing. The lovely young carers have stunning voices and were happy to sing happy birthday again and again as Mum would forget that it had already been sung several times. They make a big fuss of her. I am sure there are quieter relaxed days as well. Mum has been there for about 3 years now. She is well dressed, clean, her room is always clean and tidy and her bed made. Mums friends from church are all welcome to visit. The staff are supportive, welcoming, empathetic, kind and respectful. If Mum says she doesn't want to do something they listen to her. Sharni is parcularly lovely - answers any questions & is a delight. I have been unwell recently and not able to see her as often as before but I know she is in safe hands.

My father has been a resident at Arbor House for nearly 2 years and in that time he has settled in very well and thinks he is on holiday and staying in a hotel. Any concerns that I have raised about my fathers health such as his deteriorating mobilty or hearing needs have been addressed by the team immediately and the relevent health care professionals have dealt with his needs. My father has settled in very well and he is familiar with all of the staff. Gladys has a great team who work very hard looking after all of the residents, and its a welcoming place.

My friend has been at Arbor House since December 2025. He lived alone before that and was very independent. He then had a fall and was admitted to hospital. He was sent to 2 care homes before Arbor House where he did not settle, and his care needs were not met.

He has settled extremely well, and is very happy, and his confidence has returned since his fall. He has integrated very well considering he lived alone previously and was very independent. He really enjoys the company and staff and has no complaints at all.

Review of Arbor House from B S (Son of Resident) published on 13 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Mum has been living at Arbor House for approaching eight years and throughout, mum's care has been exemplary. Her needs are very different to when she first moved into Arbor House and she continues to be treated with respect and dignity by all the staff. The manager and her team of staff do an excellent job of caring for mum, they are always in good spirits and interact with mum in a friendly and affectionate manner. I am always informed promptly if there are any issues with mum's health and kept up-to-date with visits from health professionals. The staff deal with any questions I have concerning mum very quickly, which is much appreciated. The home is well managed and continues to be very clean and tidy. Thank you to all the staff for the care you give to my mum.

On behalf of the family, I would like to thank all the staff for the care, kindness and compassion shown to my grandma during her time with you. The support she received especially in her final days, meant a great deal to our family. The staff treated my Grandma with respect even though she could be difficult at times + set in her ways. Thank you once again.

Mum has only been at the care home for a short period of time, but she has settled in so quickly and is enjoying herself. All the staff are so helpful and obliging, nothing is too much trouble. All of the other residents are also very kind and friendly.

The home is run very professionally, and everywhere is kept very clean and tidy. All of the staff give the impression that they really care what they are doing. Overall, it has been an excellent choice for our mum to stay here.

Review of Abbey House from Margherita S (Daughter of Resident) published on 17 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

Abbey House have been absolutely amazing in their care of my mum, Valerie. They went above and beyond in looking after her and supporting my dad too who was a very regular visitor. Staff were kind, caring and thoughtful and also had a laugh and a joke with my mum which always made her smile. We know she was safe and loved there and never had to worry about that. An absolutely lucky find for us and I would commend them and recommend them to anyone.

The staff in Abbey House were incredibly kind and caring not only to my mother, who was a resident but also to my father who would visit frequently for long periods. They were proactive in informing us of any issues and went above and beyond to get more specialised medical help for my mother when she needed it. They treated my mother with dignity right to the end and were very considerate towards all the family. Thank you so much for all that you did for our mother.

Review of Kirby House from Kraig T (Son of Resident) published on 5 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My lovely mum had been resident at Kirby house until she sadly passed away this week at the age of 92.
.

Every time i have visited I have been so impressed with the wonderful staff at Kirby House. They are all so kind and compassionate and the care they give to the residents is honestly second to none. Many of them have been working at Kirby house for many years, (which is rare to find in care homes these days with high turnovers in staff) .. They always bring the residents together as much as possible so there is sense of community. They are all so cheerful and fun and they always made me and my family feel so welcome when visiting.

I really cannot thank you all enough for taking such wonderful care of our dear mum. You are amazing...you are angels.

kindest regards.

Kraig

Couldn't be more pleased with the service supplied by the staff at Abbey house. They went above and beyond to make my mother's stay as comfortable and happy as possible. Sadly, my father passed away in November 25. I cannot praise the staff who supported my father highly enough. Their compassion and support for our family was exceptional and we will be forever in their debt . The senior staff and management were knowledgable, kind and considerate throughout his time living there. If you are looking for a care home with both humanity and highly skilled staff then Harvey House should be visited and considered . A big thank you to everyone who frequently went the extra mile to support a much loved man.

Review of Huntingdon Court from Karen P (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 April 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Huntingdon Court is a homely and welcoming care home. It offers a pleasant and caring environment for the residents and every time I visit my mum the atmosphere is one of warmth, friendliness and kindness.
My mum is very happy living in the care home. She has made friends with other residents and the staff are always thinking of activities and ways to keep the residents occupied and stimulated.
My mum is kept clean and the staff are very conscious to make sure she always has her walking frame to prevent falls. Safety is of high importance to the staff, especially making sure that no resident could leave the home if they are not safe to do so.
If my mum is unwell there is no hesitation to get a local GP or the paramedics out to her.
The meals are homemade and always look very appetising. My mum loves the pudding menu.
My mum's bedroom is always kept clean and tidy by the staff.

I know my mum is being cared for and this means that I can relax and not worry about her.
