Kirby Grange is one of the best-loved residential care homes in Leicester, providing daily help and support for residents who do not require nursing care but need help with the stresses and strains of daily living.

The team of highly experienced carers provides really amazing quality dementia care, with specialised training and knowledge in this and associated areas. Unlike many other homes, the team's focus extends to maximising the overall wellbeing and quality of life for every individual resident.

Mum received the very best level of care and support during her time at the home. Everyone has done a fantastic job especially over the last 2 years during the pandemic. I would very much recommend Kirby Grange to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one.

My friend was very happy and settled at Kirby Grange. She was well looked after, enjoyed the great food.
As a next of kin, we felt informed and was looked after by the staff.
The home is decorated and presented well. Staff have dealt very well with the pandemic, we could see a strong team hard working.

The home is very caring and the staff are always willing to help the residents. They made the best use of the extra equipment room for visits and made it into a seperate room divided off for visits to keep COVID out of the home. Meals were of a good standard and alternatives possbile when needed.

Mum has benefitted tremendously from moving into Kirby Grange. The staff are absolutely great with mum in all areas of her care. The family love seeing mum on the Home's Facebook page having a great time at the celebrations and events, especially when The Rusty Barrel is open (the garden bar built during
lockdown). Mum is encouraged to participate in the communal areas but also time is made to engage with her in her room when she doesn't feel like joining the others. Mum tells me she loves the food and I know that an alternative meal will be prepared for her if needed. It was hard initially handing over the care of mum to others but I have every faith that she is well cared for.

My late father resided at Kirby Grange for the last few years of his life.
I was pleased with the care he received prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, but during the pandemic I felt the home went over and above to keep the residents safe and the relatives in constant touch. My father then unfortunately
had a stroke. Kirby Grange fulfilled his request to come 'home' and after hospital discharge provided excellent end of life care in conjunction with the GP and the District Nursing team, their communication with his family was also excellent during this period. Thank you for all you did, you made my Dad really comfortable and content!

My father has been a resident in Kirby Grange for over two years, in which time he has been cared for, and treated with love, and respect by all the members of the team, from management to all levels of carers.
During his time there I have been extremely impressed by the efforts made to entertain the
residents, making the atmosphere a happy and relaxed place to be.
Families are always welcome to be part of afternoon teas, and entertainment put on for the residents, as well as inviting them for feedback on how the home is run, which in my opinion is so important.
I have always been made to feel welcome whatever the time of day I visit my father, and even though they may be busy, there is always time for a smile and a chat, or update on my father's welfare.
Although COVID-19 has been extremely worrisome for families, I have been impressed by the way management and the team have dealt with keeping the home free of the virus.
The home has my full support.

The staff are very friendly and look after my mum really well. They encourage the family to treat it as home from home and they are very supportive to the whole family as well as Mum.
The food range is excellent and they are happy to accommodate any dietary needs, providing choice and variety.
There
is a lovely homely atmosphere making you feel instantly welcome. They have a resident cat and guinea pigs which everyone enjoys.
I would recommend Kirby Grange to anyone - the staff really care here and it shows, a massive thank you to all the staff who have been so supportive during this difficult time.

There has been a significant improvement of late throughout the home. Any issues/concerns that we have had have been dealt with efficiently. Choosing a care home is not an easy decision to make but Kirby Grange is definitely worth a visit.

The care home is well run with ample staffing levels. The staff are friendly and kind towards the residents and nothing seems too much trouble. I am impressed by the cleanliness and decor of the home.
The lady I visit is especially impressed with the laundry arrangements. I would have no hesitation
in recommending Kirby Grange as a first-class care home.

When looking for a residential home for my mother-in-law, my partner and I visited seven care homes in the area who had vacancies. Of the seven homes we visited, we found Kirby Grange to be by far the best in terms of facilities available at the home, the spacious size of the home, and most importantly
the caring nature of the staff. The manager at Kirby Grange bent over backwards to accommodate us, keeping us informed at first about the top up room available, and then when another room became free. The manager was genuinely considerate of all my mother-in-law's needs. We were turned away by another home as my mother-in-law is hoist only and has swallowing difficulties, therefore requiring a higher level of care. Kirby Grange could see how distressed we were at finding her a good home who would accept her and did everything they could to accommodate her.
We would also like to thank the visiting doctor and nurses from another practice who Kirby Grange use, they all did a wonderful job.

Most of the time is happy at the home. The same story could do with more staff. The staff don't always have time to help everyone. The room is clean and the clothes are always clean. Have to ask for a shower at times, but is done when asked.

Thank you for your kind review. As evidenced by our detailed written records your mother quite often declines a shower but responds very well to your reminding / prompting her which perhaps explains your perception that she is showered when you request one.
Regarding staffing, we staff Kirby Grange significantly ahead of industry norms and generally operate with a main shift totalling 12 staff including activities, domestic etc supporting up to 27 residents. A recent inspection by Leicester County Council included a review of staffing levels which were deemed satisfactory. Staffing levels are reviewed at least monthly against each resident's individual needs - we would welcome a detailed discussion of this issue with the reviewer and the resident to ensure we are delivering the high level of care which is our goal.

As a recent frequent visitor to Kirby Grange to see my dear friend, I felt that I must submit a review.
From the very beginning of her stay here, the management and staff have been
wonderful. Their professionalism, care and warmth is spread throughout, having spoken to most of the residents, they
are very happy here and feel the same with the superb level of dignity and respect they receive.
Can't speak highly enough of the some of the most wonderful hardworking caring people I have ever met, this is the place to be when you need the best.
