My husband has been a resident for nearly 5 months now and I can honestly say the difference in his demeanour is all down to the wonderful staff and manager. Nothing is ever too difficult for them, contact is constant and I can sleep at night knowing he is getting the best and most loving care from them all. I wish we could put a photo on to show how he looks now compared to where he was before, and it’s all down to everyone at Portland House. I am so grateful for all that they do. Thank you!
I would like to say a huge thank you to the team at Portland House, they have gone above and beyond in the care for my mum to keep her safe throughout the covid pandemic, no matter what challenges they face, nothing is ever too much trouble. I feel so reassured that my mum is in very good hands. A particular mention to the manager and mum's carers. You are all amazing, thank you.
Staff are caring and patient with all the residents. Updates are regularly received on the situation at the home and Covid tests carried out. I am consulted and kept informed of my Uncle's condition in conjunction with advice from his GP. The care home has managed the pandemic well and whilst it has been difficult with visiting restrictions, they work hard to deal with the situation.
I can’t thank them all enough for how easy they made the whole process of moving my stepdad from one home to another, nothing was ever to much trouble. Any questions we had were always answered in great detail, their professionalism is outstanding, along with the level of care and respect for both the residents and the families involved. I finally feel confident, and totally at ease knowing that my stepdad will be cared for to a very high standard, by an amazing team, with great experience, passion for the job, and who genuinely care. A team that will love, respect and care for him like he was part of their own family. From the bottom of mine and my family’s hearts - thank you!
It is very reassuring throughout this unusual period of time to have the team at Portland House looking after my Dad. I have complete trust in the team and find that the communication is really good under very trying circumstances.
I looked after Gramps for six years until his dementia took proper hold of him. It was never our plan for him to go into care, but we couldn't manage at home any more. You all made it so much easier for us with being so kind to us and Gramps.
I do not use a diary, so all I can say it was a pleasure.
Staff are very friendly and welcoming to visitors. Residents are treated with dignity and respect and usually the staff have a good sense of humour which is much appreciated as it makes life more ”home like” rather than institutionalised. When entertainment is provided it is often of a good quality but I realise that residents will all have different needs so will not enjoy everything that is offered.
The biggest and best asset of Portland House is its staff, who are all genuinely caring and friendly people and mostly long-time employees. This combined with the homely (recently redecorated) older style interior, make my dads life there a happy one.
Our lovely mum is now a permanent resident after having a successful week of respite.
Mum has advanced dementia so her care is crucial to us as a family.
Two of Portlands highly trained members of staff recently saved Mum's life when she stopped breathing. Without any hesitation whatsoever these two wonderful ladies jumped into action and gave mum another chance in life.
Thank you so very much to the two members of staff that day, not forgetting all the other dedicated individuals for their endless hard work whilst caring and looking after our mum on a daily basis. You are all so very professional, giving your absolute best every day.
The patience you ALL have is unbelievable and amazes my family and me all the time.
So thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we are so very grateful to you.
Portland House offers excellent value for money. It provides wonderful care for my uncle and he is extremely happy there. The staff are all professional, helpful, friendly and approachable.
My uncle’s room and is homely, comfortable, bright and clean and he can move freely between there and the newly decorated communal area, with help always available should he require it. He has settled very well and made some new friends.
We truly enjoy visiting him at Portland House and are reassured that this is where his needs are met, he is safe, cared for and cared about.
Lovely care home. My friend is happy and well cared for at Portland House! The staff are welcoming and friendly whenever I visit.
Bedroom shabby, in need of decoration.
The care staff, however, are caring, pleasant and helpful. They work hard and make an effort with the residents, meaning they are well looked after.
Made to feel welcome on visiting, were informed re the resident's needs e.g. toothpaste/cash etc.
This care home provides exceptional care, it feels like a home away from home whenever I go to visit. The place is run like a well-oiled machine and the staff are so welcoming and attentive to the residents. What strikes me most is the sense of family and community between both those who stay and those who work there.
Every time I go to visit I come away feeling happy and secure in the knowledge that my friend is being so exceptionally well taken care of. I couldn’t recommend more highly and the setting is also just lovely.
Portland House is an amazing place for your loved one to live, whether it be for respite or for long term arrangements. The staff are friendly, professional and obviously really care about the well-being of the residents. The daily activities are brilliant, whether it be something as small as playing catch in the lounge, a singalong or nail painting, to the fantastic shows that the staff put on for the residents throughout the year too - Christmas is especially good! It is a safe environment, clean and probably one of the best facilities that I have ever stepped foot in. I wouldn't even hesitate were I to require care for anybody else that I know to direct them to Portland.
I have been to visit my friend on a number of occasions and have always been overwhelmed with how beautiful the facility is, as well as how warm and welcoming the staff are.
I am so impressed with the individualised care given at Portland House. While visiting my friend I can see she receives one on one care that caters for her needs and likes, she is much happier than I have seen her in a long time. The activities I have witnessed are focused on like-minded residents to get the maximum benefit, they are also varied, which I was very impressed by. I would not hesitate to recommend Portland House and every member of staff there, they really do go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and it's obvious that they genuinely care about the residents.
Portland House offers exceptional quality accommodation and facilities for residents. The kind, friendly staff are inclusive to all and assist residents to improve quality of life whilst maintaining personal dignity at all times. The stunning period home provides an ideal environment to remain socially active and residents can often be found smiling and chatting together in the communal lounge. The meals provided are nutritious and healthy, with plenty of tea and cake available. Portland House is situated in a beautiful environment within a safe and secure community. It is immaculately clean! The senior management are intimately involved with the provision of services and care to maintain the highest standards. Private car parking is available for visitors.
Such a nice home! My friend seemed happy and content at Portland House. I received a warm welcome on my visit and the home appeared clean and tidy. The staff were happy, helpful and bubbly with lots of smiling residents!
