Overall Experience
I have been really impressed with the quality of care at Thurn Court. It is a very welcoming place to visit and stay with a homely feel.
My mother-in-law seems very happy and content here and receives wonderful care.
Residents are given the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities to keep them motivated. This includes bingo, flower arranging, pamper time and crafts. The lifestyle lead is very friendly and always tries to personalise things for residents and gives them 1:1 time to chat too which is lovely.
The manager of the home has been incredibly helpful, giving us lots of time to discuss things and make my mother-in-law's time here as comfortable as possible.

We can't thank you enough, you have helped us to feel much more at ease knowing she is in safe hands.

Very friendly and caring staff they look after my dad with so much care. They do their very best to accommodate all his needs and mine is always there for a talk and guidance for my dad. I love the security They have in place it makes me happy knowing my dad is safe. He eats very well at mealtimes and loves his room.

We were greatly impressed by the care and helpfulness of all of the staff from the home administrator to the carers visiting and caring for our aunt daily. On occasions, there were minor issues which didn't get relayed to members of the team, mainly because of the time they had. But on the whole, it was a great experience. The food came out as excellent and the cleanliness and our aunt was sorry to leave. She has settled back at home now. Many thanks.

The family has been very satisfied with the level of staffing and feedback from the resident. Staff at all levels were helpful, accommodating and engaged fully in providing care needed. The care home manages to balance the needs of different individuals in a good way.

This care home is very well run by management and staff. My Mum came here for a 6-week stay after coming out of hospital, but there was no room for her to stay permanently, which both Mum and I were disappointed about because Mum had settled and everyone was lovely. Thankfully, a room did become available so Mum stayed. This was February 2020, just before covid, so I felt so lucky as it was upsetting that I couldn't see Mum but I knew she was comfortable, happy and well looked after. I was very happy with how they dealt with things through covid. Two and a half years ago, my mum came here and we don't have a bad word to say about it. Going on our experience, I would highly recommend Thurncourt care home.

I can not give this care home and all staff enough praise and thanks. There care and love not only for residents but for their families as well. My grandma sadly passed away in there last year after a very long stay. Her care was amazing we couldn't have asked for more from them, her end-of-life care couldn't have been any better if they tried. My uncle has been in there quite a while now and has nothing but good to say about all staff. He is treated with respect, love and care by all. I would not hesitate to recommend Thurn Court to anyone and I'd even go in there myself. The food is very good with brilliant options. The place is always clean.

My mother was placed at Thurn Court residential home in Thurnby Lodge on a therapy lead placement after falling in March 2022 and fracturing her left hip and wrist. From the offset all staff were polite, friendly, professional, kind and helpful. Mum was treated with respect and encouraged to join in and interact. Her room was clean, pleasant and comfy.

The staff at Thurn Court Care Home go above and beyond to care for their residents. The staff are very friendly and consistently check on the residents and their well-being. They provide them with a range of food and snacks throughout the day as well as extra activities and entertainment. My grandma was even taken to the local circus which she thoroughly enjoyed. Despite the hard last two years, the staff remain in high spirits and aim to build relationships with the residents. Standards of safety were kept very high throughout the pandemic. The Facebook page is nice to see pictures of the residents and the activities they get up to - it would be great if this was more regularly updated. A communication newsletter/email would also be a great addition.

Thurn Court cared for my mother with dignity and thoughtfulness during the period of time she resided there. The staff always contacted me and kept me informed of my mother's health and wellbeing. Many thanks to all at Thurn Court who kept my mother safe and well cared for in the time that she was there.

After a traumatic illness in hospital Mum went into Thurn Court Care Home for respite care four months ago, and she decided to stay there permanently. She said she felt safe there.
Mum died recently at Thurn Court after her long term medical conditions gradually got worse. Throughout the time she stayed at Thurn Court the care that Mum received was exceptional. Every member of staff that I came into contact with was so caring as well as skilled and knowledgeable. They always went the extra mile for Mum's comfort and wellbeing - there are so many examples I could give of this.
I feel so fortunate that my mum was cared for so wonderfully at the end of her life, and in these challenging times when everyone's life is touched by Covid, it meant so much.

Thank you.

My mum has been at Thurn Court for 2 years and is well looked after. I know most of the carers by name and appreciate the time and care they provide. Despite the difficulties and challenges we have all faced since Covid the home are doing an AMAZING job of keeping the residents safe and well, and for this they need to be recognised. I miss my mum terribly and even though I can't hug her I call on a regular basis, wave at the window and I get an update on how things are going. The carers here are great, they all take the time to get to know everybody on an individual basis and they genuinely CARE which I am so grateful for.

My husband has been in Thurn Court for 18 months now. My family and I have no complaints it is a lovely home, everything is so nice and homely. The food is good and the staff are really nice, they really care for the residents. Any events come up such as Valentines Day/Christmas Day etc. I went last Sunday and there were flowers on the tables, little things mean a lot. Thank you.

I’ve got my mom in temporary care for two months and am very pleased with everything. The kindness and patience of the staff meet all the requirements. I’ve dealt more with one brilliant member of staff during my visits, but I can bet that all the others reach the same high standard. Mom praises everyone and sends all the best wishes to them. She just can’t find enough words to thank them for the wonderful care.

Overall Experience

The building is small for many residents and some of the bedrooms are not en-suite. There is a high standard of cleanliness. There are activities but the residents do not have to take part if that is what they prefer. I have not experienced the meals. I think it is the staff that make for a good home. They are cheerful and welcoming to visitors and treat the residents with dignity, care and compassion which is what matters. Despite many disabilities, there is a happy atmosphere.
