We originally used Ashtree House for Respite Care for my mum who lived with us, and who had Alzheimer's. We were very happy with the care given during mums short respite visits. Then unfortunately, at the beginning of this year mum deteriorated suddenly and required full time professional care.
I was asked if we had a preference of where we would like mum to go, and our preferred choice was Ashtree.

The team at Ashtree House provided a kind, caring, compassionate and professional environment. It is a small home that has a family atmosphere and they go the extra mile to make their residents feel part of their family.

When it came to mum's end of life, we couldn't have asked for anymore. They looked after us as family and provided mum with the dignity she would have wanted. They where constant in making her as comfortable as possible until the end

Thank you very much.

My dad went here for 2 weeks' respite Oct/Nov 2025 (to give me a break). For transparency I will declare that my daughter worked here for c. 3yrs including through the pandemic straight after college - left 2021. I have worked in care and nursing for most of my career. I know what good care looks
like and this is why I chose Ashtree, even though my Dad doesn't have dementia.
Though he wasn't keen to go, he said the staff were kind. He isn't very sociable, only came out of his room once - this would have been the case wherever he went.
I felt staff took on board his individual needs - in particular dietary. They showed an interest in his life history. The only comment Dad made after is that he would have liked a comfier armchair in his room - but I doubt he actually asked anyone about this at the time.
Staff were open and friendly, seemed happy and confident in their roles - many people still there 4 years on from my daughter leaving.

Mum became a resident at the height of the covid pandemic, so unable to visit we chose Ashtree House on the recommendation of friends who had previous experience of the home. We were not disappointed. The whole ethos of the home and staff was one of kindness, caring and compassion, with a large dose
of humour and fun thrown in. The whole family felt that Ashtree House was the home from home we needed for our mum.

A great home, with a great staff who seem happy to go the extra mile.
The location is wonderful with a decent garden to sit out in. My stepmother seemed to really enjoy living there and grew quite close to some of the careers. This was during the covid times and the home dealt with the covid restrictions
in a caring and compassionate way and we were kept informed at all times regarding any changes at the home.
Extremely happy my stepmother was given the dignity she deserved.
If you are looking for a good home for a loved one, I recommend Ashtree House.

Both of my parents were cared for at Ashtree House. What a gem of a Care Home! The staff were so kind and caring. My father had developed dementia and couldn't always relate to the world but, with the help of the Ashtree team, managed to be settled and happy. My mother had very severe arthritis, her
needs were total. They were met completely with patience and kindness. I would recommend this care home to anyone, because it does just that, cares.

Mother has Alzheimer’s and can be very difficult. She has been cared for in Ashtree House for six years and is looked after as one of the family. She has her nails and hair done regularly, we often get pictures of her doing crafty things and she eats well. Mother has a key worker who keeps us informed
if there is ever a problem which thankfully is hardly ever.
Her room is en-suite and nicely decorated, the home is clean and warm and the staff turnover is virtually nil. The owner/manager is on-site most of the time and the team works well together.

My husband has now been a resident of Ashtree House for six months, it was a very difficult decision to make but with all the help care and kindness from the owner/manager and all the wonderful staff I cannot praise them enough. I would certainly recommend Ashtree House, every resident is looked after
exceptionally well and all their needs are catered for, lots of activities for the residents to join in with should they wish. Ashtree is a very caring loving home.

My sister has been a resident for a few years now, the staff are amazing, hard-working, friendly and helpful. I would call Ashtree House a home from home. My sister is younger than most residents but Ashtree offers a great activity programme to suit everyone's abilities, staff are patient and always
have time for everyone. The owner/manager goes above and beyond for all residents and their families.
Food is good and I know how well my sister is cared for giving me peace of mind on those occasions my own life is too chaotic to visit. My dad stayed here some years ago for respite and we had no hesitation when sadly we needed residential care for my sister.

A very dear friend went into Ashtree in late 2022, the moment he stepped inside he was happy and said this is a nice place. The staff are amazing and take such loving care of all the residents when you walk in its like your with family. The residents are always happy and do lots of different activities
daily. If you are looking for somewhere for your loved one Ashtree House is the place.

The whole staff at Ashtree were fabulous with my grandmother. She was cared for like a member of the family with kindness and respect throughout her stay. They made her time there the best it could be for her and the whole family, especially through covid. The staff make the residents and their families
feel like one extended family. They are wonderful and have their residents at the heart of everything they do.

My mother has been at Ashtree House for approx six to seven years now and now she is more bedbound and infirm she is totally happy here and I find that reassuring.
The staff are all helpful and caring and one couldn’t ask for more when a parent needs the extra care that I am unable to provide.
I
highly recommend Ashtree House to anyone needing a place for a family member that is akin to being in their own home.

Sadly I can’t recommend this place, my husband lost 4 stone in 7 months, they just kept saying it was muscle tone. We were treated very differently from private residents because we were council funded even though I paid my bills. Every request I made was met with an argument. He was left shut in his
room 24/7 unable to move so was dehydrated, because he couldn’t reach his drink. He started having seizures, the staff called 111 instead of 999, when I arrived his dentures were stuck in his throat and no one noticed, despite me asking to make sure they were glued in. My husband died in hospital, there has been no acknowledgement from the manager. Some of the staff are lovely and helpful but can only do what they are told to do with residents. I can’t say his life there was restful, nor respected, to me it just seemed like he was a forgotten man, just another easy money target, stressful for us both, luckily because he had Alzheimer’s he didn’t know much about it. Education is needed there.

This home has changed our mother's life for the better, she has come on leaps and bounds since going into the home in November 2017. This is all down to all the staff at Ashtree House! Her words 'this is home'. This also gives us family members reassurance that we made the right decision, so thank you.

My mum has been in Ashtree House for 9 months now. I cannot recommend them highly enough, from the ease of getting mum into care to help with everything else when help seemed hard to find.

Every resident is treated with the utmost care and dignity from all of the very friendly staff. Ashtree is run

as a home from home and everything is done to ensure that the residents feel comfortable.

There are regular activity sessions which residents can engage with which ensures that they are kept active.

This is how care homes should be run.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.278)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.278) out of 10 for Ashtree House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.783 for Ashtree House is calculated as follows: ( (18 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.783
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.495 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashtree House is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.4 = 0.37
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
