I have ticked all the boxes as excellent. There may be slight lapses at some isolated times but absolute perfection is hard to maintain. My wife has been a high dependency resident for almost two years and in that time I have never had grounds for a complaint. I am permitted to visit my wife without
previous notification, greeted well and provided with hospitality. I would like to point out, I make these comments without prejudice to any future opinions I may have - excellent to date - may it long continue.

My Mum has lived at Brantley Manor for almost a year and is more content than I have known her be for a number of years. The staff are hard working, patient, caring, empathetic and nothing is too much trouble. From the management right through to the kitchen, I love the way staff will tell you that
the home belongs to the residents, they (staff) just work there. It is warm and comfortable. The food is cooked on the premises and residents are offered a variety of good meals.
Families are welcomed anytime of the day and are almost always offered refreshments.
I cannot speak too highly of the staff who do a difficult job. The residents are treated with dignity and respect and I would be happy to recommend Brantley Manor to anyone.

My aunt has been in this care home for 11 and a half years. The home now specialises in dementia care and our experience is that they are good at it. Our visits are generally unannounced and we have not come across untoward matters. The manager, deputy manager and administrator are easy to talk to.
The staff are cheerful and helpful and appear genuinely fond of my aunt. The surroundings are comfortable and there is an ongoing refurbishment. Several years ago when she still had some cognition my aunt said she never wanted to move from the care home. They look after her well.

My mum was admitted to Brantley Manor in Dec 2015 for respite care with a view to long term care. She was getting more unable to cope in her own home even with carers coming in 3 times a day. For the first few days in Brantley Manor she didn't want to get up out of bed (which is what was happening at
home). After the first few days mum was encouraged to come to the dining room for meals. This was quickly followed by her getting up each day, washed or showered, fully dressed and walking more. I cannot believe the difference that the care home has made to my mum. She is so much like her old self. Mum made the decision to stay long term herself. The care of the staff is amazing.

My husband was taken into this care home quite suddenly. It was his first experience of them and he was worried. The staff were so kind, welcoming and caring. His room, recently decorated was superb. There were lots of day rooms, a lovely dining area and conservatory. All well furnished with nice homely
touches. Everywhere was nice and clean. He enjoyed the food and if it was something he didn't like he was offered an alternative, even seconds if he really enjoyed it. He had a good week at Brantley Manor and would most certainly return there, quite happily.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.008)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.008) out of 10 for Brantley Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.750 for Brantley Manor is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.75
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.258 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brantley Manor is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.6 = 0.758
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
