Website states 44 rooms with ensuites (this is not true).
Bed table sharp round edges (health and safety) changed five weeks later!
Room not clean, empty pepper sachet on floor three weeks running.
Sink not clean, spilt shower gel bottle, I cleaned and my kitchen roll that I took shower gel bottle
on still there next week.
When I visited at 11.20 am bed still not made, red bags x2 next to residents chair, clothes on floor at other side of chair and breakfast tray on floor with dirty pots on (not put there by resident)
Staff walk to visitors and ignore residents. Some staff rude attitude.
I could continue but have run out of space to write.

My Mum was a resident from February 2018 until her death in February 2022. Throughout this time, I was very happy with her care and the whole staff's commitment to her care and making life as pleasurable as possible. During periods of illness, they handled everything very well. Communication between
them and me was always friendly and informative. The meals were very good which she also enjoyed and her room was always clean. Overall, I can't thank the manager and the rest of the staff enough.

My father was a resident at The Old Rectory, Stickney from January 2021 until November 2021. He was well cared for by kind and compassionate staff, led by an excellent Manager who understood the symptoms of Dementia and the subsequent distress felt by family members, who were no longer familiar to him.

From when my mum first went into The Old Rectory she has always been made to feel welcome. The management and staff are a credit to the home. They always let me know if things are not right for mum and when I visit they make me welcome.

My Mother in law has been at The Old Rectory for the last 10 days. When the weather was very hot recently, the heating was left on and the rooms were in excess of 30c. Her room has not been cleaned for the last 4 days. The rubbish has not been taken away. Dirty laundry left in her room. Toilet rolls
not replaced. I am very disappointed with the service.
Reply from James Wood, Managing Director at The Old RectoryI acknowledge the concerns raised via this review, albeit that the issues of heating were addressed the same day as they were raised by our maintenance team. Also, the client regularly refused access to her room, meaning our domestic staff did not have access to clean, this is documented in the homes records. An invitation was made to review the above with the family, which was not been accepted. This issue was raised with CQC, who concluded that the home had acted and responded appropriately. We acknowledge the issues were raised, but can evidence that a prompt solution was offered.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.245)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.245) out of 10 for The Old Rectory is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.345 for The Old Rectory is calculated as follows: ( (117 Excellents x 5) + (48 Goods x 4) + (23 Satisfactorys x 3) + (11 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 200 Ratings = 4.345
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old Rectory is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
