Found the place dirty, staff did clean when I was caught cleaning Mum's dirty room. The place was decorated around my mother and patients, over a week. I found someone else's urine in Mum's commode, human excrement on the seat, staff shouting at patients, forcibly manhandled patients made them agitated
and causing a tearful anxiety attack. One was a male, his partner was outside with me and she begged them to stop shouting at him. I made it clear that I wanted a move for my mother, after this, the staff was in two's around me. Started to claim they did not like my attitude, all of Mum's clothes were lost, never got a proper reply. Mum always had other people's clothes on. Staff blamed each other, the management was no better at giving answers. Unfortunately, my mother became seriously ill, at least she got out of the Redcote care home. The Redcote care home is best for dementia patients because they will daily forget, what a horrible place it is. I would not recommend having loved ones here.

My mother was a resident for just over 4 years she was suffering from dementia. The care that she received was second to none. The staff gave her wonderful loving care. At times she could be a real phase her carers at all and they were always attentive to her needs.

My mum has lived in Redcote House for over 4 years. She settled in quite quickly. She has vascular dementia. The staff are kind and caring to the residents and they seem to be well looked after. It is a small family feel home. Visitors are welcomed with a drink and will answer any questions you have
about your family member.

My mother used to visit a friend at Redcote House on a regular basis for some time. When my mother went into a sharp decline with dementia it was the most suitable place as it was known to both of us. I was happy with the care my mother received since her admittance in December 2015 and am happy that
she ended her life there, in familiar surroundings and with caring people. I was always kept informed of any changes etc.

Can't praise Redcote House highly enough. The staff and facilities are second to none. All staff members treat Mum with kindness and respect. After a tough couple of months for Mum, her welcome into Redcote House has settled her down and she is very happy and content.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.055)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.055) out of 10 for Redcote House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.972 for Redcote House is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.972
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.083 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Redcote House is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 registered maximum number of service users is 3.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.6 = 0.833
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
