Happy to leave a review for the good folk who work so hard for their clients at Southernwood house care home in Spalding, my Mother in law had a couple of weeks staying with them while a care package was arranged for her at home and the way they all really care about what they do shines through, from the kindness they always show through to the terrific food,( 5 star rated by the local authority), they provide a much-needed service and should be proud of what they achieve, thank you from our family!

Your feedback means a great deal to everyone at Southernwood House, and we will be sure to share it with the team. We wish your mother-in-law all the very best at home, and thank you again from Southernwood House.
The food was freshly prepared with plenty of choice, mum said food was very nice.
Room was clean and tidy and clothes washed daily.
Cannot fault the care and support of all the staff.
The decor was a bit dated wanted abit of TLC but the care and support is more important so overall experience was excellent.
Mum said she would be happy to return for more respite

My Father was only expected to live for 6 months when he entered this home. He managed 28!! I think that says it all in that he found a will to carry on thanks to the care and love around him.

Overall, I don't have any problems with the care home.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We're truly delighted to hear that your mum has settled in well and that she's enjoying the meals we offer. Providing different variety's is important to our kitchen staff and it's wonderful to know that it's appreciated by our residents.
The staff go above and beyond everyday for the residents and nothing is to much trouble for them
My dad is well looked after and they understand his needs so well
The food quality is amazing all freshly cooked and a wide variety my dad has never eaten so much before !
My dad is happy and settled and I would not want to move him anywhere else
Thank you so much for your kind words. We're happy to hear that your dad is settled at Southernwood House. We'll be sure to pass on your lovely feedback to all the team, especially the cooks, who take real pride in preparing fresh, varied meals daily.
We were very pleased with Southernwood on the whole. The staff were friendly and caring and Mum felt well looked after. The food was very good (she's quite fussy and liked it so it must be good!) The building was a little run-down but new windows were being fitted during her stay and this was less important for us than her care. The only negative was that we'd asked for a shower and hair wash for her every 3rd day which didn't happen, she may have been reluctant though.
Thank you for your kind words about all of our team at Southernwood. We're delighted to hear that your mother felt well cared for and enjoyed her stay. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Your comments will help us continue to improve our services. Thank you again.
We found the home to be very caring and patient, staff seemed to be motivated and happy within their role. The only downside was furnishings and storage for the residents. But we found the food and care to be excellent.
Good afternoon, thank you so much for your feedback this is very much appreciated, We are so thankful we had the pleasure of meeting your father-in-law and hope he has settled in well at his new home. We appreciate the building requires freshers, but we are pleased to say this is now in process. Thank you for your kind words.
During the short time my mother has been here she considers it home and the carers are her friends. She is shown respect and treated with dignity. She has been encouraged to socialise which has given her a newfound confidence. Good menu options with freshly prepared food. Her room is always clean and tidy and her clothes are laundered regularly. Management at the care home has been a big support with queries, paperwork and general admin during the settling period. Yes, the building looks tired and requires a bit of TLC but most importantly it's the excellent care that counts.
Thank you for sending in the review! We're so happy to hear Mum felt at home when staying at Southernwood. Making friends with all residents and staff is also a big comfort and makes such a difference. The kitchen staff will be delighted with the comments on the quality of the food. I'm glad you...
My mum has been staying at Southernwood House for the past couple of weeks while she transitions from hospital care. Mum's room is small but has everything within easy reach and the carers are just a press of the buzzer away! Although the building itself is a little dated this has no impact on the care shown. All of the care staff are always very friendly and welcoming and obviously take pride in the care they offer all of the residents. This care also extends to family and friends of residents too as I have been able to join Mum for lunch in the dining room a couple of times for really tasty meals! A huge bonus is the choice of homemade meals prepared in the kitchen at Southernwood House, the cooks are absolutely 100%. Mum also enjoyed a recent pampering activity after which I have photos of her looking glam! I am sure more organised activities would be a bonus too.
Thank you so much for your kind email about your mother's experience at Southernwood House. We are delighted to hear that her transition from hospital care has been smooth and that she feels comfortable in her room. Our team takes great pride in providing high-quality care to all residents, and...
I have nothing but praise for the management and team at Southernwood. Their dedication to the job, politeness and caring nature was amazing throughout the period in which they looked after my father. Thank you so much for all that you did for him.
Thank you for your kind review, it was a pleasure getting to know your father and looking after him. He is a character that we will remember and hope to keep in touch with. We wish him all the best for the future. Kind regards, Manager.
Mum entered Southernwood House just over a month ago, and I have nothing but praise for the care she has received to date. The exterior of the building needs a little updating, but it belies the genuine respect, warmth and compassion I have found within. All of Mum’s medical and personal needs are being met with a high level of professional care and kindness. Led by the manager, all the staff, whatever their roles, work together as a team for the benefit of the residents. The food is excellent and home-cooked, and there is always a good choice. The cleanliness is exemplary. I have no hesitation about getting in touch by telephone or email at any time if there is anything I need to discuss about Mum's care. I have peace of mind, knowing that Mum is being cared for by individuals who really do care.
Thank you again, and speak soon.
I was looked after by Southernwood House for three months. I was treated with the utmost care, dignity and respect and good humour. Nice surroundings, excellent food. Family were confident that I was being looked after and found the staff to to be inclusive of them as well. Flexible visiting hours are an advantage and visitors were always impressed.
Thank you for your kind words! It was an absolute pleasure looking after you. We were all amazed at your continued improvements and determination. Don’t forget to stop by for a coffee! I hope your journey at home is going well. Keep in touch.
My dad moved here while waiting for a care package to be set up. The care he received was amazing and the staff went out of their way to help and look after him. Nothing was too much trouble and we were really glad he was sent here.
Kind regards.
Since going into the home Mum who was quite ill and dubious about residing in a care home has really found it a great experience. The staff are all very accommodating, polite and professional. They give a level of cover up to a high standard and they really care about the residents and make them feel at home. The care home has a very homely feel and Mum is very happy with it which gives me peace of mind knowing she is being looked after.
Thank you.
My mum arrived at the home in April and has received excellent care since her arrival. Decoration could be updated, but this has no relation to the excellent staff and care. It is a well-run, efficient and friendly home. The staff are very capable, hard-working and caring. The overall cleanliness is first-class and always maintained to an excellent standard.
Thank you, Barry! It has been a pleasure getting to know your mum and all of the family.
A brilliant care home that has looked after my mum for over 3 1/2 years. The food is amazing, with varying menus every week. The staff are always kind and respectful to the residents. The new manager is always very polite and is trying new methods to improve the care home. My mum is very happy here and is always in a good mood every time I visit.
Thank you for your kind words; we love having your mother as part of our Southernwood House family - she’s one of a kind.
A very comfortable and welcoming environment. Maybe a little redecorating may enhance the experience. Management is excellent and enables the residents to feel safe, secure and at home in their new environment.
Thank you for your feedback, Sarah; it’s been lovely getting to know you all.
Lovely place to stay. Would have no problem going back there again or sending anyone from my friends or family. The staff were all very nice and friendly. As a smoker, it was nice to be taken outside when I asked to have my cigarette and was never a problem. The staff did all that they could to make my stay comfy and happy.
Thank your lovely feedback. We value all feedback given.
I have been helped above and beyond the usual level of support given to most residents due to my mental health.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are so please you are happy at Southernwood House and value your feedback.
The home is not managed properly, no management on duty at weekends. Mum was downstairs then because they wanted the room so the next morning they moved all her belongings upstairs while she was having a cigarette and she came back to her room to find all her belongs gone and it, of course, really upset her a lot as she was suffering from dementia in which it has made her worse. We were able to get the home to keep her downstairs because she had a fall downstairs in the past. And she won't use stairs because of this. Since then the manageress made it hard for my mum. She had to go into hospital but after that, the manageress wouldn't let her back in the home saying she wanted a bank statement even though she was self-funding before. Now she is living with me and my husband until we find another care home.
