  • Care Homes Owned by Wellbeing Residential Ltd
Since 2005 Wellbeing Care Group have provided award-winning care allowing older people to enjoy the very best. Those who felt isolated in their own home gain companionship; those who were struggling to cope alone receive 24-hour help; and others who may have felt like they were a burden can find themselves much more independent.

Care workers go beyond the ‘National Standards for Care Homes for Older People’ caring about every detail of residents’ lives including health, diet, exercise, hobbies and social activities. The aim is to ensure that all residents continue enjoying life, receiving the very highest standard of care. You may be surprised how little high standards cost, with many care home residents receiving complete funding from their Local Authority. In 2007 they received the prestigious Community & Social Care Award for outstanding achievement.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My dad became a resident at Harrington House in July 2025 after having a fall at home and also living with dementia. After a few months his dementia deteriorated quite quickly. Sadly he was put on end of life and passed away in January 2026.
The care throughout his stay was extremely good. The last
couple of days leading upto dad passing the head of care and the manager of the care home were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and they always put dad's needs first.
The night my dad passed the manager of the carehome was there for me and family throughout the day and night. To say she went above and beyond is an understatement.
I would recommend Harrington House to anybody that needs a well run care home with competent caring staff from cleaners upto management.

Lovely care home, staff and management are absolutely wonderful. My dad has spent 1 week here, he has alzheimer's, so we were worried about him going away for the first time, but we needn't of been as he settled in straight away. We would not hesitate to recommend Harrington House and will definitely
be using it again, gave my mum a much needed break.
Reply from lauren wood, Administrator at Harrington HouseThank you, Natalie, for your kind words-they mean so much to us. We're delighted to hear your dad settled in well; it was a pleasure to care for him. We look forward to welcoming him back whenever you need us.

Blessing and Saviour have been terrific in helping David settle in The Broughtons. They have gone out of their way to help cater for his kosher food with all its intricacies. Much appreciated. Staff are lovely, caring and friendly. All together five stars!!! Daniel.

My family and I cannot thank Jacy and her team at Southernwood for the care my Father received over the last 2 years 4 months of his life. They were always respectful, caring and nothing was ever too much trouble. My Father especially enjoyed the puddings and biscuits on offer. It was quite clear after
his passing that he will be missed and remembered as he received truly personal care in every sense.
My Father was only expected to live for 6 months when he entered this home. He managed 28!! I think that says it all in that he found a will to carry on thanks to the care and love around him.
Reply from BOB DHALIWAL, Director at Southernwood HouseThank you for your kind words and for taking the time to share your family's experience of Southernwood. We are very pleased to hear that your father felt well cared for and supported during his time with us, and your feedback will mean a great deal to Jacy, Jemma and the team.

It was a privilege to care for him, and we are grateful for the trust you placed in us over the past two years. Please accept our sincere thanks for your review and our best wishes to you and your family.

I find it difficult to be washed by a male carer.
Some staff are very good, but the agency staff are not good.
Room is nice, but other service users coming into my room when I cannot move is very upsetting.
Food is very bland, and I would like more variety of food, not always sandwiches at teatime.
I would also like more activities, please.
Reply from lauren wood, Administrator at Harrington HouseThank you for your feedback. We have worked closely with you to address your concerns, implementing changes wherever practicable, safe, and balanced with the needs of all residents.

Our trained staff prioritise dignity and respect. While we honor individual preferences, staffing must remain safe, timely, and equitable. Agency staff meet the same rigorous standards and checks as our permanent team.

Resident privacy and safety are managed through careful planning and supervision; all specific concerns raised have been reviewed and addressed. Similarly, our menus and activities incorporate resident input while meeting nutritional and operational requirements.

We remain committed to constructive dialogue and hope the improvements made are recognised. We encourage continued direct discussion with management to address any further matters.

My brother was taken into Harrington House just before Christmas 2024. I had no expectations but was welcomed by the friendly staff, and the team provided care, good food, warmth and a feeling of wellbeing. In short, Peter felt safe and secure.
Roll on 12 months, Peter's condition has worsened, he
has been in and out of hospital, but Harrington's care hasn't faltered.
Karen and her team are a credit to care, cheerful, and great food, and as a regular visitor, I have to say they are great.

A Warm, Compassionate, and Well-Run Care Home
I've had an excellent experience with this care home, I'm truly grateful for the support they've provided. From the moment you walk through the door, the atmosphere feels welcoming and calm. The staff are consistently kind, patient, and attentive-not only
o the residents' medical needs, but also to their emotional wellbeing.
Communication has been a particular strength. The team keeps families well-informed and is always willing to answer questions or discuss concerns. It's clear that they genuinely care about building trust and creating a sense of community.
The facility itself is clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully organized. Meals are nutritious and varied.
Most importantly, the residents are treated with dignity and respect. I've seen firsthand how the the caregivers take time to connect on a personal level, ensuring each person feels valued.
Overall, I highly recommend this care home to anyone seeking a safe and caring home.

The staff are all great and do their absolute best for my Grandma and all the residents. However, there have been significant staff shortages which has been filled with last-minute agency staff. This makes things difficult for the staff and the residents, as there is sometimes much less cover than there
should be. This leads to long waits when my Grandma needs to go to the toilet, causing her to wet herself more than necessary. I would highly recommend the owners to think seriously about putting more resources into hiring experienced carers on a substantive basis.

We were very pleased with Southernwood on the whole. The staff were friendly and caring and Mum felt well looked after. The food was very good (she's quite fussy and liked it so it must be good!) The building was a little run-down but new windows were being fitted during her stay and this was less important
for us than her care. The only negative was that we'd asked for a shower and hair wash for her every 3rd day which didn't happen, she may have been reluctant though.

During the short time my mother has been here she considers it home and the carers are her friends. She is shown respect and treated with dignity. She has been encouraged to socialise which has given her a newfound confidence. Good menu options with freshly prepared food. Her room is always clean and
tidy and her clothes are laundered regularly. Management at the care home has been a big support with queries, paperwork and general admin during the settling period. Yes, the building looks tired and requires a bit of TLC but most importantly it's the excellent care that counts.
Reply from Lauren Wood, Finance/Administration Lead at Southernwood HouseThank you for sending in the review! We're so happy to hear Mum felt at home when staying at Southernwood. Making friends with all residents and staff is also a big comfort and makes such a difference. The kitchen staff will be delighted with the comments on the quality of the food. I'm glad you had reassurance and support from the care home managers they are a fabulous team. You're right - while the building itself might need a bit of an update, the care Mum received is what truly matters. Thanks again for the feedback. My mum has been staying at Southernwood House for the past couple of weeks while she transitions from hospital care. Mum's room is small but has everything within easy reach and the carers are just a press of the buzzer away! Although the building itself is a little dated this has no impact on the care
shown. All of the care staff are always very friendly and welcoming and obviously take pride in the care they offer all of the residents. This care also extends to family and friends of residents too as I have been able to join Mum for lunch in the dining room a couple of times for really tasty meals! A huge bonus is the choice of homemade meals prepared in the kitchen at Southernwood House, the cooks are absolutely 100%. Mum also enjoyed a recent pampering activity after which I have photos of her looking glam! I am sure more organised activities would be a bonus too.

This was our first experience of the care home system. And wow - what an experience!
Every single member of staff is so, so lovely. Everyone is very friendly, very kind and very helpful. The way they interact with residents is wonderful. And it's not just the residents they care about and look after.
They extend this to family members too. The last few months have been a very stressful and emotional time for me. Many members of staff have offered me a listening, understanding and supportive ear and sometimes even a hug! They feel like friends I have known for years! This is every bit as valuable as the care they provide for the residents and I will never be able to thank the staff enough for everything they have done for both me and my mother. She has had to move to another care home now which is closer to her family and friends. But her final comment was 'I wish I could take all the staff with me!'
I cannot recommend Harrington House and the staff highly enough!
Thanks to everyone.
