My name is Louise, and I am the Home Manager at Southfield House. I began working at Southfield House in April 2016, and I have been in multiple job roles during my time here at Southfield House and have worked my way up the ranks to become the Home Manager, but I have enjoyed each role I have performed here.
Before starting here at Southfield House, I worked within the Childcare sector, and then I worked in the community with elderly care.
I first became interested in pursuing a career in care when my mother looked after my Nan when she became unable to care for herself. I witnessed my mother care for my Nan until my Nan came to the end of her life. This inspired me to ensure that other individuals received the same loving care that my Nan did.
I enjoy working for OSJCT. There is always an opportunity to further your career; the Executives ensure that our residents receive the best care and that all staff are listened to. OSJCT believe in person-centred care, which is so important, and they also ensure that all employees are paid above the national minimum wage.
I love my job, working alongside fantastic people, and being part of our residents’ lives. To put a smile on someone’s face is the most rewarding thing you can do.
My name is Lucy, and I'm the Activities Coordinator at Southfield House, Spalding.
My previous career was as a paediatric nurse in the NHS. I left to bring up my children, and when the youngest started school, I wanted to return to a caring role, but in my local area, Southfield House was my first choice, as I had heard many lovely things about the home.
I have worked my way up at Southfield from a bank carer to a senior carer and night carer. During the pandemic, I left for a short time and returned to the NHS to deliver vaccines to vulnerable patients as a community nurse. I returned to the home after the pandemic as an activities coordinator in 2022, because the Trust is very welcoming, supportive and as a charity, the Trust reinvests to provide the best care for residents.
Furthermore, I was enthusiastic about the activities coordinator role, and the skills and experience I already have in caring to transfer to the role. I take my role as activities coordinator seriously as I am always striving to promote meaningful activities that are stimulating, fun and supportive for the residents.
There are so many ways to engage residents in these activities as everyone has different interests and abilities, no day is ever the same, and I am enjoying finding more ways for us to celebrate life together in our home community, and to connect with the wider community like recently taking part in Spalding flower parade which brought back so many lovely memories and was so much fun too.
