My mum went to Stones Place for respite in the summer, and five months later is still there. She enjoyed it so much she didn't want to go home. She's very settled, well cared for and has others to talk to and activities to keep her busy,

At the age of 96, my mother finally took the step of going into care. From her first visit she felt that Stone's Place was right for her; it was superbly clean with wonderful facilities and the staff were most welcoming. Now, three months on, my mother has settled really well. She tells me that she
cannot fault the home nor the staff - "it is like living in a hotel" she says!! The food is excellent and she takes part in most, if not all, the activities - within the home and out. From my point of view, I am delighted to see that my mother has totally immersed herself in her new environment. At 96 it cannot have been easy for her, but everything about Stone's Place has made her transition into care so much easier. So, well done to Emma, Bev and all the staff at Stone's Place, Lincoln. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you for your lovely review of Stones Place. It is so reassuring to know that we are getting it right. Your mother is an absolute pleasure to have in the home, and I am so happy that she chose to live at Stones Place.

My mum has now been at Stones for 4 months. I had to find a care home very quickly after mum had been in hospital and it was looking likely that she would not be able to return to my home to live with me as she was needing a lot more care.
My first impression when I walked through the door was the
friendliness of all the staff that I encountered and it wasn't a one off, staff continue to be friendly and smile every time I come to visit. I noticed that Stones was homely and lovely and clean and didn't smell. Then I saw the little Chapel and I knew straight away that this was the place for mum and I haven't been wrong! It took a while for her to settle in as she couldn't accept that she would be staying but she now enjoys it especially singing hymns in the Chapel and armchair exercises.
I have to thank the Assistant Manager for her support at a time when I was battling the guilt of having to leave mum there. It has been a success story and I am so pleased I chose Stones Place for her.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you for your lovely review of Stones Place. I will ensure that this is shared with the staff team. It's been lovely to see your Mum thrive in the environment and a making new friends and new memories. It's nice to know that we are making a difference and supporting our residents to live later live well.

From my first visit to Stones Place, I knew my search for the right home for mum was over, I made my mind up within minutes of entering! After being shown around I just couldn't wait to bring my mum to look too!
Mum loved it immediately as well and decided to book in for respite. After only a couple
of days she has decided to become a full time resident! The staff are exceptional, everyone is so kind, helpful and pleasant. It is extremely well run. A safe, caring environment for mum.
I really can't thank all the staff enough for how they've helped mum settle and feel welcome, nothing is ever too much trouble. It is perfection. I never knew homes like Stones Place existed till I found it!

When looking for a residential home for my mum I used a really simple criteria, which was "would I like to live there?" When it comes to Stones Place, the answer was a very clear "yes, I would".
What has really impressed me is how the management sets the tone, they clearly muck in with what needs
to be done, whether it is helping out in the dining room, or helping residents to speak with their family members over the phone. The food is good and there is a varied set of activities, which includes trips out to local amenities. I looked at 10 different homes and this home is by far the best. Also, you don't have to be a Methodist (or even a believer) to be a resident, you can take or leave the Methodism and have as much or as little as that as you wish. Like I said, I would live there. I feel very confident in the care that my mum receives. Highly recommended.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you for taking the time to review Stones Place and having such a positive overview of the services and care that we provide. Your mum is a very welcome addition to the Stones Place family and it is such a joy to see her joining in with all the varied activities in the home. We also look forward to your visits and I have taken that you really enjoy the Sausage Casserole. Here at Stones Place, we do strive to live the values of MHA and I believe that this is reflected in the way that the team pull together In the home to ensure that our residents have the best experience living here.

After living on her own for nearly twenty years moving into a care home was a huge change for my mother. The staff at Stones Place were very understanding and patient. They encouraged but didn't force my mother to join the wide variety of activities available. Three months later and mother wouldn't
want to go back to living on her own. She is now part of the wonderful community at Stones place. The staff are very friendly and supportive. Mother has made some friends. Now I no longer worry about over medication, falls on the stairs or diet.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank You for your review, it is so rewarding to know that not only do we make a difference to the lives of those that choose to come and live with us here at Stones Place but also the families that are able to relax a little knowing that their loved ones are safe and there is someone overseeing their safety. Your Mother makes me smile everyday with her sharp wit and caring nature and my heart was warmed this morning when you told me that she has her nails done for the first time ever in her 91 years and that she keeps looking at them. She has settled into home life well and is a pleasure to have with us.

Two years ago it was necessary for my mother to move to a nursing home. It was not an easy decision by any means. However, the care and compassion that has been shown to my mother every single day has been heart-warming. She is a private persona and this has been taken into account in every way. When
family visit we are all greeted with smiles and tea and biscuits and made to feel that we are part of this very comforting and warm home. We are grateful.

My Mother has been a resident at Stones Place for nearly 7 years. Previous to that she attended day-care at Stones Place when this was available. During her stay, she has received exceptional care. The staff are always attentive, supportive, and caring. Now that the renovation has been completed the
home is clean, well decorated, and given a very good first impression on the entrance. I believe it to be one of the very best care homes in the area. This was reiterated at the Xmas party when I met new families who had chosen Stones Place over many others they had visited.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you so much for your kind words. Your Mother is an absolute joy to be around, and I think that she genuinely cares for us as much as we care for her. The residents who live at Stones Place make the home the caring and inclusive home that it is, and we think ourselves fortunate to have the pleasure of spending our days with them. I am happy that you like the outcome of the refurbishment; the home does look fresh and inviting to visitors. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the Christmas Party and made connections with some of the more recent families and residents that are at Stones Place. Don't forget our Coffee Morning that is held on the first Saturday of every month, it would be great to see you there.

Stones Place has restored my faith in the care system.
I promised my mother I wouldn't let her move anywhere I wouldn't live myself.
I looked at lots of homes. Then I found Stones Place.
My mum has gone home. The staff, the attention to detail, the care, the warmth and the welcome.
Mum is safe
and happy. I can relax. Thank you.

The care my mother received at Stones was outstanding. My mum sadly passed away in Stones Place last week. The care the staff gave to my mum in the last year was absolutely amazing. Every member of the staff truly obviously loved their job and the residents. I have no words to express my gratitude on the day Mum passed, and they have been as kind to me
as they have been to Mum in the past year. It was a privilege for me to be part of the home, and I hope to continue to visit.

Well, on the morning of her birthday, the staff came in with a flowerhead dress that lit up and a sash that said queen for the day and birthday cards from the morning post. Breakfast and lunch were great, Mum loved it. Then there was the afternoon tea with even more surprises with cards and presents,
Mum got emotional, but she loved her day. Massive thank you to all the staff at Stones Place.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.819)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.819) out of 10 for Stones Place is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.944 for Stones Place is calculated as follows: ( (169 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 179 Ratings = 4.944
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stones Place is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
