This is a well managed residential home, with a friendly, caring atmosphere and if it is necessary I would choose to come here myself. There is help given in settling in with many activities if one wishes but privacy if desired. Visitors are made very welcome and it is pleasant to sit outside in the
garden.

My mum went into Stones Place following a four-week stay in hospital. Staff at the home couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful and it was so nice to see her comfortable after our experiences of the previous weeks. When Mum first arrived, we were unsure of her next steps (going home, sheltered
accommodation or staying where she was) and in the end, she moved on to another care home which was better able to meet her needs, but the staff were at our side every step of the way in supporting that difficult decision. Mum was with them for only three weeks but in that time she blossomed, regained her confidence and was ready for that next move. I really can't recommend Stones Place highly enough.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you for your kind review; it is so good to hear that you have felt supported by the team at Stones Place, through what was a difficult time and that the outcome of some difficult conversations was a positive one.
Here at Stones Place, we live by the MHA values and I think that this was reflected in the open and honest conversations that we have had when discussing the care needs of your mother and whether Stones Place was the appropriate place for her needs to be met. It was an absolute pleasure to have your mother stay with us for the short time that she was with us and I wish you both all the very best in the future.
Please do pop in and see us if you are in the area.

I cannot speak highly enough of the Care our Mother has received at Stones Place care home.
Our mother has been a resident for nearly five years after initially going in for respite care after a fall and deciding to stay.
The home is spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming.
Staff are kind and friendly
and show empathy with the Residents.
There are a lot of interesting activities organised for Residents who wish to get involved, but also no pressure if this is not what the Resident wishes.
In the Summer the garden is lovely and links to the dining room to sit out with a coffee and chat.
Our mother always says she feels very safe and happy living there, you cannot wish for any more than this.
We are very fortunate to have found Stones Place.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you for such a lovely review, it is so nice to know that you feel happy and confident that your mother is safe and well looked after. Stones Place staff work to the Values of MHA and I believe that this is reflected in the way that our residents are cared for. We are making progress with the gardens and will have a sensory garden with seating for the residents later on in the year which we are really very excited about. As fortunate that you feel that you found Stones Place, we also feel fortunate that yourself and your mother chose us to be her home.

I have visited friends who have been residents in Stones Place over several years and have always found the staff welcoming and helpful.
My friends have reported excellent care and in the last month particularly I have heard how good the food is and how varied the activities offered are. I understand
the carers have made every effort to provide solutions for the residents' individual problems and needs.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you for taking the time to review Stones Place. It is always nice to have feedback from our visitors when they have been to the home, and especially nice to receive such lovely compliments from someone that has been visiting the home for several years. The care team really are very dedicated to the residents and understand the value of person-centred care which reflects in the way that the people that live at Stones Place are looked after. Visitors are able to have their meals at Stones Place, so if in the future you would like to try some of our lovely food for yourself please speak with a member of the team and we will be happy to organise this for you.

I cannot praise Stones Place enough. My mother has been a resident for 2 years and I am confident she couldn't be in a more loving and supportive environment. The meals are first class, I visit regularly for lunch with my mum and I find the experience more like taking her to a restaurant than eating
in a care home. Attention to detail is evident in all areas of the home. Thank you to all the amazing, caring and loving staff at Stones Place.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you for your very kind comments about Stones Place and the wonderful team that work here. I am so pleased that you find the dining room experience here so relaxed and enjoyable; I think that the ambiance in the dining room during mealtimes is so important as a nice atmosphere promotes conversations and friendships. I think that the care staff changing into their ”whites” gives that extra touch and can make it feel more like dining out. We like to encourage family and friends to have a meal with their loved ones as we appreciate that it is not always possible to be able to take them out and this is the next best thing. We also have a small lounge with a dining table that can be set up so that families can have a more personal dining experience should they wish to.

Having worked at Stones Place as a volunteer for almost 20 years, I am temporarily receiving care after breaking my hip. The genuine consideration and care by all staff members is exceptional. Food and comfort first class. Hope to soon get back to volunteering here. It will be a pleasure.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you so much for taking the time to review Stones Place. Your continued support volunteering over the years is very much appreciated, so it was really lovely and a great pleasure to be asked to care for you for a little while, following your recent operation. Your kind comments about the care you’ve received mean so much and it’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your time here. My mother-in-law had a fall in her bathroom; she doesn't know how but one minute she was standing the next she was on the floor behind the closed door. We were on holiday abroad. This staff managed to squeeze into the bathroom to be with her and wait while paramedics arrived.
She tells how comforted
she was by their presence. Another member of staff went with her to hospital and stayed to bring her back home, Mum says she could not have been better looked after and we were very grateful for them going the extra mile in our absence. This is typical of the standard of care she receives at Stones Place.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you for taking the time to complete a review of Stones Place.
I am so pleased that the staff were able to support your Mother-in-law, when she needed them most and of course we are happy that their quick response ensured that she received the medical attention that she required in a timely manner and that she was able to return home to us.
I see that you feel that the activities in the home are satisfactory. If you would like to discuss this further, please do come and see me as I am sure that if we could discuss this we can offer more to your Mother-in-law as I am aware that she does not like to be involved in the group activities that take place in the home. Our Activities Coordinator is very accommodating and is always open to new ideas on things that we can do to enhance the lives of our residents.

I came to the care home on respite care.
As time went on, I could not look after myself and was accepted as a resident. The standard of care is superb and the staff always helpful and quick to respond to the buzzer when needed.
I was recommended to Stones Place by a friend. It is the right place for
me.

The staff are always cheerful and have respect for the residents and family. The staff are quick to notice when my mother is not feeling well and take appropriate action. My mother enjoys the activities on offer and is very happy with the meals. The staff work hard to meet all the demands of the residents
and manage to create a very relaxed atmosphere. My mother us happy here and I enjoy visiting her.

Stones Place has a serious commitment to residents in their care, all with a human face. The staff are receptive and understand how important communication is to residents and their family. The attention to detail is transparent in the cleanliness, layout of the rooms and the monitoring of medication
and residents reactions to that medication. The home has a calmness found not only in the residents' rooms but also in common areas, corridors and gardens. My mum feels valued, secure and more self-confident since moving to Stones Place. The positive atmosphere contributes to the recovery in health and general well-being. This is confirmed through conversations with different residents. Mum and I know how lucky she is to have a chance to be at Stones Place.

When searching for a suitable care home for my mother Stones Place stood out from the others that we viewed. It feels very much to be a home and not an institution and is a lovely, caring and friendly environment. Great care is taken to treat the residents as individuals and with dignity and I am always
impressed that all the staff take time to talk to the residents and never rush them or behave with any impatience.
It is very daunting to find somewhere for a parent to live that is going to feel like their home. It was not an easy process with my mother and for much of her first few weeks she was not happy to be there and was regularly packing her case. This was managed very professionally and compassionately and I found the staff hugely kind and sympathetic for which I was very grateful.

We recently came to visit my grandmother after a wedding. The staff were amazing and helped us create an 'at home' mini wedding for my grandmother who was too frail to attend, complete with a video call to the wedding, flares and nibbles for her and her friends.
The deputy manager was great, making
sure the day was really special for my grandma.
It makes me feel so much better to know how well cared for and looked after she is here. The staff really care about the residents and will do anything they can to support and care for them.

My mother has been in the care home for about 8 months.
Before she went in she was struggling health wise but is now much improved in both mind and body.
We have found the home to be extremely well managed and the atmosphere is always very welcoming.
We cannot fault the home in any way i.e cleanliness,
the number of staff, activities etc...
Before deciding on this home we visited a number of other homes in the area and this one stood out from the crowd.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.819)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.819) out of 10 for Stones Place is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.944 for Stones Place is calculated as follows: ( (169 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 179 Ratings = 4.944
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stones Place is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
