My mother has been a resident with Stones Place for four months now, and since her stay, has shown so much improvement in her mobility, memory and overall well-being. I cannot say enough praise for all the staff's kindness and support for her and for keeping her dignity at all times. She has been given
so much motivation throughout her stay, which I'm sure has contributed to her ongoing improvement. Meal times are always something to look forward to. Thank you!

All the staff are dedicated to ensuring that the residents are entertained and cared for to a high standard. During the "lockdown", the staff went above and beyond to keep the residents interested and occupied and to feel like part of one big family. As we emerge out of these restrictions and trips
and the use of 3rd party entertainment becomes more regular, the happy family atmosphere is wonderful to see.

Dad was made very welcome and was looked after extremely well. He enjoyed taking part in the activities that were arranged, even leading some at times to help out. As a family member, I was greeted warmly on my visit and made to feel welcome. Top drawer care.

My mum (92) lives with us, and I booked her into Stones Place for a short respite while my husband and I attended a wedding and visited family. This was her third stay, and again, Mum reports being so well cared for. Mum was a little upset one day, and the assistant manager went out of her way to comfort
Mum, which she really appreciated. Mum says that the whole team work so well together to provide a supportive and caring environment and to meet the many different needs of the residents. It means I am able to relax while away from home, assured Mum will be receiving the support and care she needs
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you so much for taking the time to give feedback on your mother's recent respite stay at Stones Place. We really do look forward to her coming to stay with us; she is a breath of fresh air. My father is in Stones Place for respite care for three weeks. I have only observed his care for 24 hours, but have been improved by the friendly ambience, the gardens and overall facilities. My father enjoys the food and was pleased to receive his family's gazette with photos and messages from the
family (this is an excellent innovation). His room is comfortable with a lovely view of the gardens. The methodist link and Christian ethic and worship opportunities are important to Dad.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you so much for your lovely review of Stones Place. I am so pleased that we were able to offer a respite stay for your father; he really has been an absolute pleasure to have with us, and I look forward to him returning to stay with us in the future. I am so pleased that you have used the app; it really is a wonderful way to keep in touch with families and friends, and the team at Stones Place love to see them and discuss them with the residents. Chaplaincy is such an important part of Stones Plac,e and this, along with our values, is reflected in the way that we work and live in the home.

It’s never an easy task convincing elderly parents that it’s time to move to a safer place where all their needs will be cared for, to give up their home, independence, routines and in our case being separated from each other. Our task of finding the right home was so complicated due to Covid-19. However,
after visiting many care homes in the area Stones Place was the only one that when we walked through the front door we sensed this was the place where our father would be well cared for and happy. The home is beautifully presented with spacious community areas, nice en-suite bedrooms, lovely gardens, excellent food and daily activities. The home is run in a very professional manner and all the staff are so approachable and helpful. Our father is gradually adjusting to his new home with the full support of the caring team. I would not hesitate in recommending this home to you.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you for your kind review. I am so happy that we were able to help at what has been a difficult and challenging time. Although you have not been able to see the whole home due to COVID-19 restrictions, I appreciate you taking the time to write such lovely things about us. Your father is a sociable chap who has made some new friends and joining in with the activities. He’s keeping us on our toes with his quick wit too.

After six very happy years at Stones Place, Mum passed away peacefully at the end of March, 104 years old. During those six years, Stones Place had made Mum, my wife and I, feel very much part of “their family”. This really shone through during her final weeks. My wife and I were allowed to spend unlimited
time with Mum, and so we sat with her, talking to her and reading to her, nearly all day every day. These were very precious times. We saw first hand the love the staff had for Mum; their care and compassion for all three of us was outstanding. A lasting memory came on the day of the funeral. The cortege drove into Stones Place car park in order for Mum to bid her final farewell. When we arrived, the management team and staff were stood information on the front steps, along with the soft toy lamb that Mum had adopted! My wife and I will never forget that. A wonderful Home, and truly wonderful people, “our family”, who helped see us through a very sad and emotional time.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you for this very kind review. Your mother was and always will be a very important part of the Stones Place “family”; she was an absolute joy to be around and is sadly missed by us all. She pops up in conversation most days and her sheep is on guard at the front door. Here at Stones Place, we strive to instil the MHA values in all that we do and when I receive reviews like this it shows me that we are getting it right. We look forward to a catch up with you when we are able to open our doors again.

My father was cared for wonderfully by the staff at Stones Place during a very difficult time both for him, for us and for themselves as the world struggled with Covid-19. The staff were brilliant, treating him with great care, dignity, compassion and enriched his last weeks with humour, stability
and a feeling of love that, as a family, we were not able to easily give him during lockdown. He didn't live at Stones Place long, but once he was there, he didn't want to be moved anywhere else to end his final days. Thank you to all the staff who looked after him and ensured his phone was within reach, he had soup in the middle of the night if he asked for it, and he had everything he needed to make him comfortable when he passed away.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you for your review; it really is very kind that you took the time to complete this. Your father really was a lovely gentleman and an absolute pleasure to care for. Please come and see us when we are able to accept visitors back into the home and hopefully give you the hugs that we were not able to give you when needed them most. With love from us all at Stones Place.

We were naturally apprehensive on moving my relative from one care home to another, especially as we did not live in the area. However, we had heard very good reports of Stones Place, which I’m pleased to say were borne out. The home has been extremely welcoming, and the staff are very pleasant and
caring. The care is excellent, the rooms are spacious, and have every facility. Administration of the home has always been exceedingly efficient. We would not hesitate to recommend.

As a family, we'd like to go on record to sincerely thank all of the staff at Stones Place care home, for their prompt, courteous and professional response when my mother was taken ill at the care home earlier this week. A rapid assessment of her situation and the immediate call for paramedic assistance
resulted in a quick transfer to hospital for emergency and life-saving treatment. Thankfully, she has since made a steady recovery and is now comfortably settled back into the environment which she now regards as her home and where she's safe and very well cared for. Also, thank you to all her fellow residents who have since offered their best wishes both to Mum and family members, which reflects the real sense of community that is at the heart of Stones Place.

My Dad moved to Stones Place from another care home as we were concerned about the care he was receiving. The first time I went to see Stones Place and met the manager I knew there was something very special about this care home. The residents were clearly very happy to be there and all of the staff
were also very happy. The relationships between the residents and staff were like a big family looking after each other. Dad had a bad fall before he moved to Stones Place but he is now walking again. I believe this is down to the care he has received. Dad is calmer and happier than I have seen him in a long while. The efficiency of all the staff and the attention given to my Dad is just amazing. They have also been available for me during and since the move from the previous care home. I no longer have to worry about the safety and care of my Dad. A very big thank you from both of us to all staff. You are all amazing.
Reply from Emma Pickett, Home Manager at Stones PlaceThank you so much for your kind response. As a home, we really do strive to create a homely and caring atmosphere and I am so happy to see that this is felt by you when you visit. All staff that work at Stones Place work to MHA Values and I think that this is reflected in the quality of the care that is given and the way that it is tailored to the individual’s needs. Your Dad is a very welcome addition to the home and has settled in with ease; he’s an absolute pleasure to be around.

We are so glad that our aunt chose this care home, where she lived happily for more than 3 years. Dignity, respect, and 'unfailingly kind' were her main reasons. This she received throughout with the care adapting to her changing needs. The staff are exceptional; always kind, friendly and respectful,
with endless patience. Nothing is too much trouble. Residents are all treated individually, and have personal relationships with all staff, including catering and maintenance, adding to the homely feeling. Communication with us, living at some distance, was always good and we were welcomed at all times, even when they were busy. We will miss calling in and the homemade meals, which were excellent! Everything was superb, but I wish I could give double stars for the staff.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.819)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.819) out of 10 for Stones Place is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.944 for Stones Place is calculated as follows: ( (169 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 179 Ratings = 4.944
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stones Place is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
