The staff generally seem to look after mum well and seem genuinely affectionate towards her. Activities really seem to have improved a lot although unfortunately mum cannot take full advantage due to her condition. We have had one or two concerns with cleaning but when mentioned it was dealt with quickly.
Bins often seem to remain unemptied for a while. Overall our experience has been good, particularly the staff.
Reply from Jenny Bellwood, Marketing Director at Sandpiper Care HomeThank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We're really pleased to hear that your mum is well cared for and that our team's warmth and affection are evident in her day-to-day experience.
We're glad to hear that any concerns were resolved quickly and to your satisfaction. Please don't hesitate to let us know if anything ever needs attention - we're always here to help.

Overall, we're delighted that your experience has been positive and that our staff, in particular, have made a strong impression. Thank you again for your kind words and ongoing support.

The way my father-in-law has improved due to the consistency of care and help from staff is incredible. My father-in-law had been bed bound before coming to Sandpiper (due to neglect and lack of care and knowledge from previous home).
He is now able to communicate effectively, he has progressed from
being hoisted to using a stand to help him transfer, he can now feed himself. I really can't praise staff enough. They are all brilliant and each and every one of them work to high standard. This includes care, cooks, cleaners etc.
Reply from Jenny Bellwood, Marketing Director at Sandpiper Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. We are absolutely delighted to hear about your father-in-law's progress since joining Sandpiper. Seeing him regain confidence, independence and comfort is exactly why our team does what they do, and it means the world to us that you've noticed the consistency and dedication in their work.
Your praise for all members of staff, from care teams to cooks and cleaners is truly appreciated. Everyone plays a part in creating a warm, safe and supportive environment, and your kind words will be shared with the whole team.
Thank you again for your trust in us and for your kind words.

My mum and dad were both in Sandpiper. Dad passed away in April- the care was absolutely amazing from all staff, especially Joanne (outstanding care). Mum is still in care, with alzheimers and constantly wants to go home, she tries to escape regularly, but the team are amazing and they cope really well
managing her behaviour.
Reply from Jenny Bellwood, Marketing Director at Sandpiper Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry for your loss and deeply grateful for your kind words about the care your dad received and we will be sure to pass on your special thanks to Joanne and the team. Mum has been in approximately a year now and the transformation in her is incredible. Other than the Alzheimer's, every other part of mum's life has improved so much. She's eating great meals, she's surrounded by fantastic residents and the carers really are our extended family. We are very lucky to
have found such a wonderful home for her, huge weight lifted from our minds as a family.
Just today alone, she's had a haircut, participated in the exercise, had a fabulous lunch with seconds on the pudding and when I left, a singer was just setting up!
What a great home she lives in.
Credit to the manager and his fantastic team.
Thank you.

My mother moved into the home a few months ago now. If I am honest I was dreading it but due to her illnesses there were no other option. I can genuinely say it was the best decision for her, both the care staff and management have been amazing and very helpful when I have been unsure about things,
reassuring both my mother and myself. She's settled in well and the staff have always ensured mum's privacy and dignity is maintained at all times. The food always looks nice and very appetising, always having different options available. I would recommend Sandpiper to anyone that is looking for a home for their loved ones.

Sandpiper is a residential care home, with wonderful people working in it. The minute I walked into Sandpiper, I knew it was right and my Mum would be looked after. When we arrived in mid-December with Mum and a car packed with all her personal items, including a TV and a Wheelchair, the team were waiting
to greet us. They did everything - got Mum out of the car, unpacked her belongings and made us a drink and something to eat. The Care Home Manager and her team are extremely welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Mum's room was lovely with a view of the garden and she was looked after very well. The place is spotless and 'homely'. Visitors were always made to feel welcome when visiting her on a daily basis. Sadly, at the end of January, Mum had a stroke. Her progress is good but her medical needs mean she now needs a Nursing Care Home with a registered nurse on site. I count myself very lucky that a room was available just when Mum needed it the most. Thank you Sandpiper!
Reply from Alicia Bradon, Marketing and Communications Manager at Sandpiper Care HomeIt's truly heartening to hear about your positive experience with Sandpiper Residential Care Home. Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.682)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.682) out of 10 for Sandpiper Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.732 for Sandpiper Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (165 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 209 Ratings = 4.732
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sandpiper Care Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Steven is highly qualified, holding NVQ levels 2, 3, and 4, and is currently pursuing his NVQ level 5 in Leadership and Management. His goal for Sandpiper is to make it the home of choice in the community, the top choice for employment, and a place where relatives feel peace of mind and comfort.

I take pride in my team and the appearance of the home.

I really enjoy my job and being with the residents. I had never worked in a care home before but now I wouldn't do anything else, it's so rewarding. Every day is a pleasure.

"I have been in catering since 1981, cooking is my passion. I enjoy preparing quality, home-cooked, meals for residents. It is important for me that the food we prepare is made from locally sourced produce and is something residents enjoy; residents are included in menu planning. Mealtimes are an important part of the day and an occasion where residents can socialise while enjoying good food."
