My mum has only been at Thorndale for a few weeks but the change in her mood is significant! She loves all the staff and enjoys their interactions too. The staff are so helpful and keep me informed of Mum's care. I couldn’t be happier to know Mum is being cared for so well, is in a lovely and safe environment
and she is happy too.

My mother has settled and been given a new lease of life since arriving at Thorndale. The ease of making her room, truly hers, was fundamental. The staff are attentive and genuinely friendly. The family are welcomed and always offered a cuppa. Visiting is so pleasurable as Mum is socialising and taking
part in activities so always has news and conversation. Her Alzheimer’s and poor mobility are given dedicated care which in turn, gives me and the family peace of mind. She is no longer experiencing periods of loneliness or feeling fearful: she’s happy and safe! She loves her room and the varied, tasty food. The management have been extremely professional and accommodating whenever I’ve had questions and their empathy is very comforting.

Mum has been a resident at Thorndale since September when it was confirmed that she needed 24/7 care. We chose this home based on existing reviews, and since then, it has been proven to be an excellent choice. Mum, despite her ongoing conditions, has settled in well, has been steadily showing signs
of progress with no further visits to hospital, and is very happy in her new surroundings. If this is how Mum will spend the remainder of her life, then we couldn't wish for better. If Mum is happy, then so are we. Thank you to each and every one of the care team that look after her and the other residents. Words cannot express enough how grateful we are.

It wasn't easy for my mum to accept that she now needed 24/7 care as she had always been so independent and had always said she wouldn't want to go into a Care Home. We were familiar with Thorndale, as a couple of years ago a friend of ours had been a resident who we visited and we remembered how friendly
the staff were. It was after a lengthy time in hospital, Mum transferred to Thorndale and has now been there for 3 months. Already in this short time, I can see how Mum has settled so well and feels comfy in her new home. She gets on well with the staff, is well looked after and if there's anything she wants, she only has to ask and it is sorted for her. If she's feeling under the weather, it's good to know that Thorndale liaises with Mum's doctors surgery to arrange necessary treatment. The Manager and Deputy Manager are really approachable and are always to hand if I need to talk to them about anything. Thank you, Thorndale for all you are doing for Mum.

My mum was in Thorndale care Home from November 2020 till July 2021. The staff were very friendly and caring. The manager is very professional. My mum was well cared for, and she loved her room, staff and especially the food. The home is very clean and well maintained. Lots of positives and no negatives.
Highly recommend this care home.

My mother has been at Thorndale now for about 2 years. In that time she has been treated with dignity and respect by the management and carers, obviously, over the past 16 months, visiting has been difficult because of the pandemic, but they arrange video calls which helps. Things are getting better
now, and hopefully, we will be able to get back to some kind of normality. The Thorndale Tatler home magazine is sent out to all resident's families once a month, so we know what events the home has planned for the residents. All in all, I am very happy with Thorndale and would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a lovely home for any friends or family members.

I live over 250 miles away, and after being unable to see my Mum for almost 7 months, my biggest wish was to see her. As soon as I contacted Thorndale to say I would be in the area just for the day, these wonderful staff went over and above to help me achieve my wish. I received an LFD test quickly
and efficiently, and once cleared, was taken to the visiting area. They always treat her with kindness but the way they told her they had a surprise for her (me), and then brought her in to see me, was wonderful. It certainly was moving. I felt completely at ease and totally safe with all the COVID procedures that are in place. Thank you, Thorndale. You are all little stars.

My mother-in-law is very well cared for and has all her needs met at Thornadale, where she has lived for many, many years. She is wonderfully comfortable even though she isn't always well enough to leave her room to join in activities in the lounge. Today we found her nicely snuggled in bed, her hair
freshly washed: her room was spotlessly clean (as is the whole of the home). I am very impressed with the skincare and personal hygiene she is provided with. I am kept up to date with any health concerns; the carer in charge has excellent knowledge and understanding of her needs and was very approachable, providing factual, personalised information.

Dad has been at Thorndale, as a dementia resident, since Christmas 2019. We have been so impressed with his care, especially during the Coronavirus pandemic. The staff are so thoughtful and kind and Dad is very well cared for. We have been able to use regular Skype to stay in touch and more recently,
to visit following Covid restrictions. Dad is encouraged to take part in a variety of games and crafts and Mum loves getting the monthly activities timetable. We have really appreciated staff thoughtfulness such as personalised cards from Dad at Christmas and Easter. Covid prevented us from being with Dad for a milestone birthday but this year, Mum and I were able to visit and help Dad open his (Covid pre-isolated) gifts from family and Thorndale sent us a photo of Dad with a birthday cake they provided. We consider that Dad is very lucky to be at Thorndale. We get peace of mind and he gets quality care. We just can’t wait until we can visit him without Covid restrictions.

I really cannot recommend this care home enough. My nan is in here and I was so worried as I said I would never put her in a care home, but needs must as she is over 100. She is happy, so well looked after and safe. The staff are absolute angels, especially one member of staff who really goes above

Dad has now lived at Thorndale for over three years and is extremely happy there. From day one he was welcomed into their 'family' and has been extremely well looked after ever since. The care staff are all very professional and provide him with a wrap-around service that ensures his needs (medical,
personal and emotional) are always met. Dad sees the staff as his friends and enjoys a bit of banter, but he also knows that he can rely on them completely when he needs to. Importantly, during the COVID crisis, he has also felt very safe in Thorndale because of the prompt and decisive actions they have taken throughout. As a family, we're extremely happy with the service provision, information and levels of contact that we receive. Dad could not be in better hands. Thank you all.

After living in the same house for 67-years, it was a huge step to firstly acknowledge that Mum was no longer able to cope on her own, but also to select a care home without being able to view it first due to Covid restrictions.
From the beginning, we knew that we had made the right choice in selecting
Thorndale. Before going in, Mum had become quite withdrawn, and her mobility was extremely poor. Despite not being able to have visitors, she settled in extremely well and surprised us all - within just a couple of weeks, she was more animated, chatty and is walking better than she has done for a couple of years. She has nothing but praise for all the staff.
During the Summer, we were able to visit her outside, and it is clear that she is being well looked after and that the staff genuinely care. She is always dressed nicely, and it's the little touches like putting her jewellery on, painting her nails etc that make the difference. As a family, we now have peace of mind.

From the very first time we went to look at Thorndale we were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Mum settled very well and we couldn't wish for a better home for her to be in. Whenever you visit, you are always made to feel welcome and part of the family.

My mother has just started her new chapter in life at Thorndale and loves it. Most of my contact has been and still is with the deputy manager, to say she is a delight to deal with is an understatement. My questions prior to Mum joining were dealt with quickly and most professionally. A few days ago
Mum celebrated her 95th birthday and everyone made her feel a million dollars. Mum can't praise Thorndale enough, she said it's like living in a wonderful hotel. Thank you all so very much for making her feel so safe and wanted.

Always welcomed with a smile, such wonderful staff. I miss being able to come into the home to visit but the outdoor visits are still so special. The manager and deputy go out of their way, nothing is too much. The residents are all very loved.

The staff at Thorndale in Kettering have been genuinely engaged with mum the whole time she has been with them. We have seen nothing but kindness and affection towards mum. When we talk to any of the staff they do not give general comments that could apply to anyone but speak of mum's character and
personality as it truly is. Before lock-down, we have walked into mum's room to find a member of staff on her knees by her bedside stroking her hair and encouraging her to eat or drink with patience and love. Since lockdown we know that she has been well looked after, having her books read to her and playing the CDs she so loves to hear. The Skype meetings have shown us that she is being well cared for. As mum finds it difficult to talk, the staff steers the conversation to things she knows will stimulate and please her. All of the staff who care for mum are absolute stars, so are the managers. We could not have chosen a better place for mum and thank them all most sincerely.

My Dad is at Thorndale and is very happy to be there. All the staff are fantastic and cannot do enough for him or any of his family who ring through or visit him. Under the COVID-19 restrictions, unfortunately, we are all limited to the times we can see him but all the staff have been tremendous with
him and he feels that they are all part of his family now as well. Thank you guys and girls for all the help, support and kindness that you show him.

Mum moved to Thorndale almost four years ago. It took a while for her to settle in as she is very shy and enjoys her own company. The staff were very encouraging and helped her to feel secure and comfortable. Mum loves her room, the homemade food, and the peacefulness and is relaxed and feels safe.
The care is excellent - the staff know the residents really well and understand their needs. The team are mainly long term which is great as no high turnover ensures a consistency in care.
From management, catering, admin, cleaners, activity and all the support staff, the care and support to residents and also to families is very good and so much appreciated especially during these difficult times. Thanks for keeping Mum safe and we hope to see you all soon.

My sister and I were looking for a home for Mum because we were afraid for her safety at home, so we put Mum into Thorndale. It took a little while for Mum to settle but the staff were very kind and helped Mum to settle in, she had a nicely decorated room and always clean. Mum is looking so much better
because she loves the food, which is all homemade with lovely cakes, and if there is a problem the manager and staff are always willing to talk - nothing is too much trouble, so I would like to thank the manager and all her staff for helping us to know Mum is safe and cared for, thank you.

Job Title: Team Leader

I’ve worked for Shaw Healthcare since 2013, I started off at Beech Close as a Support Worker & I am now a Team Leader @ Thorndale.
I’ve worked in many different jobs Hospitality, Retail, Jack of all trades some may say.
I trained to be a Beauty Therapist, once qualified it was great, however, I soon realised I wasn’t satisfied just doing eyebrows and I knew I had so much more to give.
I've always been very passionate in whatever I do and I need satisfaction, I've finally found it at Thorndale.
I love coming to work, I feel fully supported by my colleagues, most of all, I love seeing a smile on a resident's face and the fact that I've made them feel good about themselves.
I look forward to my future at Thorndale & with Shaw.
