Dad has now lived at Thorndale for over three years and is extremely happy there. From day one he was welcomed into their 'family' and has been extremely well looked after ever since. The care staff are all very professional and provide him with a wrap-around service that ensures his needs (medical, personal and emotional) are always met. Dad sees the staff as his friends and enjoys a bit of banter, but he also knows that he can rely on them completely when he needs to. Importantly, during the COVID crisis, he has also felt very safe in Thorndale because of the prompt and decisive actions they have taken throughout. As a family, we're extremely happy with the service provision, information and levels of contact that we receive. Dad could not be in better hands. Thank you all.

After living in the same house for 67-years, it was a huge step to firstly acknowledge that Mum was no longer able to cope on her own, but also to select a care home without being able to view it first due to Covid restrictions.
From the beginning, we knew that we had made the right choice in selecting Thorndale. Before going in, Mum had become quite withdrawn, and her mobility was extremely poor. Despite not being able to have visitors, she settled in extremely well and surprised us all - within just a couple of weeks, she was more animated, chatty and is walking better than she has done for a couple of years. She has nothing but praise for all the staff.

During the Summer, we were able to visit her outside, and it is clear that she is being well looked after and that the staff genuinely care. She is always dressed nicely, and it's the little touches like putting her jewellery on, painting her nails etc that make the difference. As a family, we now have peace of mind.

From the very first time we went to look at Thorndale we were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Mum settled very well and we couldn't wish for a better home for her to be in. Whenever you visit, you are always made to feel welcome and part of the family.

My mother has just started her new chapter in life at Thorndale and loves it. Most of my contact has been and still is with the deputy manager, to say she is a delight to deal with is an understatement. My questions prior to Mum joining were dealt with quickly and most professionally. A few days ago Mum celebrated her 95th birthday and everyone made her feel a million dollars. Mum can't praise Thorndale enough, she said it's like living in a wonderful hotel. Thank you all so very much for making her feel so safe and wanted.

Always welcomed with a smile, such wonderful staff. I miss being able to come into the home to visit but the outdoor visits are still so special. The manager and deputy go out of their way, nothing is too much. The residents are all very loved.

The staff at Thorndale in Kettering have been genuinely engaged with mum the whole time she has been with them. We have seen nothing but kindness and affection towards mum. When we talk to any of the staff they do not give general comments that could apply to anyone but speak of mum's character and personality as it truly is. Before lock-down, we have walked into mum's room to find a member of staff on her knees by her bedside stroking her hair and encouraging her to eat or drink with patience and love. Since lockdown we know that she has been well looked after, having her books read to her and playing the CDs she so loves to hear. The Skype meetings have shown us that she is being well cared for. As mum finds it difficult to talk, the staff steers the conversation to things she knows will stimulate and please her. All of the staff who care for mum are absolute stars, so are the managers. We could not have chosen a better place for mum and thank them all most sincerely.

My Dad is at Thorndale and is very happy to be there. All the staff are fantastic and cannot do enough for him or any of his family who ring through or visit him. Under the COVID-19 restrictions, unfortunately, we are all limited to the times we can see him but all the staff have been tremendous with him and he feels that they are all part of his family now as well. Thank you guys and girls for all the help, support and kindness that you show him.

Mum moved to Thorndale almost four years ago. It took a while for her to settle in as she is very shy and enjoys her own company. The staff were very encouraging and helped her to feel secure and comfortable. Mum loves her room, the homemade food, and the peacefulness and is relaxed and feels safe. The care is excellent - the staff know the residents really well and understand their needs. The team are mainly long term which is great as no high turnover ensures a consistency in care.

From management, catering, admin, cleaners, activity and all the support staff, the care and support to residents and also to families is very good and so much appreciated especially during these difficult times. Thanks for keeping Mum safe and we hope to see you all soon.

My sister and I were looking for a home for Mum because we were afraid for her safety at home, so we put Mum into Thorndale. It took a little while for Mum to settle but the staff were very kind and helped Mum to settle in, she had a nicely decorated room and always clean. Mum is looking so much better because she loves the food, which is all homemade with lovely cakes, and if there is a problem the manager and staff are always willing to talk - nothing is too much trouble, so I would like to thank the manager and all her staff for helping us to know Mum is safe and cared for, thank you.

Staff are very friendly from the catering, domestic staff, caring staff and management. Very clean and bright care home. Meets my mums needs perfectly. The meals and snacks are of a good standard, I was able to make up my mum's breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks menu to suit my mum's requirements. Some mornings she could have a full English breakfast if she wants to, which she does a couple of mornings a week. Well done everyone, stay safe.

At Christmas time we started looking for a residential home for gran. It was quite a challenge, as we looked we knew some were not the right place for our lovely gran and were starting to worry! We followed our first impressions and felt Thorndale had a welcoming feel straight away. Luckily gran agreed! Gran has been there for almost a month now, and the difference in her is amazing. The staff, go above and beyond to make her happy, nothing is too much bother. We are welcome to visit any hour and feel we can trust the staff impeccably to look after our lovely gran. We can’t say enough about the place! We would recommend it to anyone looking for a homely, safe, sociable (when wanted) environment.

Thank you, Thorndale.

I have been treated with all the kindness and consideration one could ever expect. Nothing at all was ever too much bother, especially from a certain member of staff, she is so thoughtful and understanding and kindness is the word good enough. Even though she must be tired after doing night shift she continues to treat the residents with consideration and kindness at all times. I can't speak highly enough of her. Other members of staff are also very kind and respectful.

Katie LoakeJob Title Team Leader
I’ve worked for Shaw Healthcare since 2013, I started off at Beech Close as a Support Worker & I am now a Team Leader @ Thorndale.
I’ve worked in many different jobs Hospitality, Retail, Jack of all trades some may say.
I trained to be a Beauty Therapist, once qualified it was great, however, I soon realised I wasn’t satisfied just doing eyebrows and I knew I had so much more to give.
I've always been very passionate in whatever I do and I need satisfaction, I've finally found it at Thorndale.
I love coming to work, I feel fully supported by my colleagues, most of all, I love seeing a smile on a resident's face and the fact that I've made them feel good about themselves.

I look forward to my future at Thorndale & with Shaw.
