All of the staff are caring and considerate. My wife seems to be getting on well. It has been difficult for me as I looked after my wife at home for seven years. The staff have been very supportive of this transition into the care home. My wife has hearing aids and the night staff have been most helpful
at putting them on charge.

From the first contact with this home, I was greatly impressed by the professional service given by the management and staff. Curtious concern for the welfare of a new resident. Excellent cleanliness over all the home. Very fresh and pleasant aroma. Food was delicious. Polite staff at all times with
visitors. I would recommend this home as I believe it has the care of the residents at all times. Any questions put forth were answered truthfully, and help was given to liaisons with social services. An excellent home.

Most of the staff are excellent, very caring and considerate.
I think more stimulation is needed for the residents and more outside time. I appreciate that this may be difficult to achieve without more staff.

I cannot help but praise everyone at the Old Vicarage workshop.
Everyone is so caring to me as well as to my husband.
The place is spotless.
So pleased we found this home as it has the freedom to be quiet or join in with the other people in the lounge.
Can't thank everyone enough.

I have found that the staff at the Old Vicarage Care Home are very caring towards my wife and myself. I feel that she is being well looked after. I cannot comment on activities as I have not been at the home when or if they take place.

My mother of 93-years has been a resident for the past year. The care she receives is outstanding. All the carers are kind and very hardworking. The home is always very clean. I am always made to feel welcome, and whatever I ask, they aim to do. I would recommend to anyone. Keep up the good work.

My mother has been a resident of Old Vicarage for the last 5-years. She suffers from dementia, but at nearly 95, she is doing very well. For the most part, she has been very happy. She has contracted Cvoid twice, and the home has acted professionally and responsibly, taking good care of Mum. Over the
last year, activities have improved greatly. I have formed good relationships with all staff, and one lady, in particular.

From November 2019 to 1 February 20220 my stepfather was very happy. Looked after like he was family. Loved the food but most of all the staff. They were considerate, kind, caring compassionate, respectful but most of all loving.
He called the home "his home" from the day he moved in and all I can
say is "it was". All the above not only applied to my stepfather but to myself also - absolutely brilliant!

Mum has been in this care home for the past two years, on the whole, we are quite satisfied with her care. Her main complaints are she would like a bath a bit more regularly and more variation in the food particularly at tea time. She has had issues with a couple of members of staff bullying, but not
physically. This seems to have been resolved now and we were pleased that we were able to celebrate her 100th birthday despite Covid rules.

Just want the Old Vicarage Care Home to know that I don’t want to come and see the place post-Covid, yes I got a call from the receptionist saying she didn’t want to upset me by talking to me and my daughter. Is that a normal way of treating families who have lost their loved ones? Also, you say my
dad was apparently looked after, when I went into A&E, bless him he still had the clothes on from when he went into dri , he hadn’t been shaved, my dad was such a proud smart man, we sent clothes, letters and a brand new tv. I got back and the tv is still in its box. Someone else’s clothes and our personal letters to dad are unopened, all his sweets still unopened. I was heartbroken.

The care shown to us as a family and my mother-in-law was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble, for anyone of your staff. Her end of life care shown by your staff went far beyond anything anyone could wish for. You have a good team of very caring staff and should be proud of all of them, and
I thank you all very much.

Staff were friendly, polite, helpful and chatty. The food was fresh and choices were available. Portions were very adequate.
The accommodation was clean and comfortable. Staff were always caring and considerate and respectful to me and other residents. My only disappointment was not going out whilst
there but I understand why this is not always possible. My wife's comments that on my return home, several personal items were missing (including my hearing aid) and has never been found, even though I was well looked after during my stay.

Welcoming with confidence, management has good response and carers all very good but very busy.
The food and drinks offered are of good quality and served out as quickly as staff can deliver, but sometimes hot meals and cups of tea can be on the cool side as the staff are busy and have a lot of clients
to attend in individual rooms.
Overall a satisfactory stay in their care.

Mum has been very well cared for in the first two weeks she has been in the Old Vicarage. The rooms are clean and comfortable, residents are encouraged to personalise their room. All the staff have been friendly and approachable.
Mum has even been out in the garden playing a game - unheard of for
the last five years!

Staff very good and obliging to all residents. Comfortable but furnishings dated, food to a good standard. Could do with brightening up in the lounges etc, the only downside is no inside smoking area for residents. They have to go outside in nothing more than a bus shelter.

My father entered the home on 13/11/18 in failing physical and mental state at the age of 91. He was subsequently diagnosed with chronic renal failure and died on 17/12/18. All staff were very professional, kind and caring both to my father and family members who visit. Nothing was too much trouble
from start to end.

Our mother has been welcomed by the staff with warmth, compassion and care. Her needs are fully met and we cannot fault the service provided by the Old Vicarage. A cosy room, delicious, freshly prepared meals and daily attention to what mum needs to keep her safe and content.
The other residents provide
her with good company and we look forward to her becoming increasingly involved with the activities organised by the home.
She has already been encouraged to join in by the staff and is responding well.

Current Review Score: 7.7 (7.721)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.7 (7.721) out of 10 for Old Vicarage Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.333 for Old Vicarage Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (11 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.333
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.388 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Old Vicarage Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.6 = 0.263
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
