Since our Mum came to the Old Vicarage one month ago, the difference in her is remarkable and this is through the excellent caring and understanding of the staff at the Old Vicarage. Her room, which is very important to our Mum is everything we could wish for her. I would also add that the staff encourage
her to participate in activities which mum attends.

My auntie was only in for a few days but the change in her mood was unbelievable. She was outgoing, chatting to members of staff and residents, she joined in with the entertainment in the home and she encouraged residents to have a sing-along, it was lovely to see a smile on her face and she seemed
less confused.

The Old Vicarage Care Home did my mum proud today when they celebrated her 96th birthday. My mum loves to have a fuss made of her and they know this, it so pleased her. They had dressed her in the birthday outfit that I had given which they know pleased me. They offered tea and cakes to her visitors,
which pleased them. My only regret is that I live too far away and was not able to join them all. Thank you to all the staff.

The staff at the home are very friendly and welcoming. The food is homemade and excellent.
My mum was reluctant about going in to a care home for respite but settle in straight away and has nothing but praise for the staff.

The care, both physical but also mental, that the home gave to my grandmother was outstanding. The love and genuine feelings they showed both for Grandma and my family was second to none.
Seeing them support Grandma at the end of her life has left me eternally grateful to all the staff at The Old Vicarage
Care Home. Thank you!

My mum was a resident during the final months of her life. She had a number of health issues including cancer. She had been housed with family until May 2017 when she was no longer able to receive the full-time care she needed. The Old Vicarage was all wonderful to her, so much so that she believed
she was at home with lots of carers around. Treated with dignity and respect.

With great reservation, Mum was admitted to the Old Vicarage Care Home in November but the care she got from the management and all the staff was second to none. She enjoyed all aspects of the home including food, entertainment and trips out. She was cared for with dignity which was very important as
well as having fun with other residents and staff. That's why I still come to the Old Vicarage Care Home as a volunteer and still enjoy it.

A home from home environment, operated by professional and caring staff.
Excellent housekeeping and spotlessly clean. Choice and quality of food are excellent. General amenities are good and being able to sit out in the garden is very welcome.
My mother in law looks forward to Line Dancing on Monday
evenings and church on Sundays and Wednesdays.
I attended a resident meeting and volunteered to purchase a Karaoke Machine and safe darts and to be involved in organising a boat trip. She seems to be having problems losing underwear which goes to laundry.

My father is extremely happy at the Old Vicarage Care Home and thinks the staff are very good. My brother and I feel this is a very good service and know dad is safe and well supported. He would like to get our more when family do not visit, possibly in the garden when the weather is appropriate.

The staff all know my mother-in-law and do not have to be prompted or reminded. Her hygiene and dress care are always very good and she enjoys her meals and when able the social activities. Plenty of information in reception hall about what is going on and future events and photographs. From the manager
right through the staff we have never felt we could not approach to ask any questions. We enjoy going in the lounge on our visits and everyone is always dressed nicely.

After a bad experience in previous care we moved mum to the Vicarage. From the first viewing we felt confident and happy this was a good place to be. Staff are friendly and competent, food is delicious and the whole feel of the place is that of a relaxed and safe environment.
The care and support
for both the resident and their family is great and staff/management are always available to answer any questions or worries we may have.

Current Review Score: 7.7 (7.721)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.7 (7.721) out of 10 for Old Vicarage Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.333 for Old Vicarage Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (11 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.333
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.388 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Old Vicarage Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.6 = 0.263
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
