Lever Edge Care Home, Bolton, Greater Manchester

Lever Edge House is a purpose-built care home, created to best compliment a highly skilled team offering excellent residential care. This home also boasts fantastic dementia care.

Carers offer residents and their families the support they need during what many find some of the most trying times of their lives. Families are truly grateful for the personal support they receive, when faced with one of life's very difficult decisions and the team pride themselves on continuing that support to residents and their families from the moment they contact the home throughout the whole of their stay and beyond.

The approach to care is simple - look after the person and not the ailment/condition alone - Carers want to get to know their residents and their families, thus enabling them to look after the whole person and not just to concentrate on the task in hand. Staff get to know their clients, who they are, who they were and how they have come to be at the home.

Carers get to know their families too and like to understand the dynamics within the family setting and how best they can support these as they build a relationship of trust. They understand that choosing a care home is not just about excellent amenities, but about a true and real understanding of relationships being nurtured, trust being built and a life being lived. Professionals believe in true, real and honest care and keep this at the heart of their approach.

The home welcomes long stay residents but also those wanting a shorter stay, perhaps for rehabilitation or convalescence or to build confidence after a fall. Has also offered respite care and support to those suffering from nervous conditions following a break in at their home

The Review Score of 7.7 (maximum of 10) for Lever Edge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4 out of 5 from 3 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Lever Edge Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4 for Lever Edge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (9 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. 1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 3.685 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lever Edge Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My Mother-in-Law became a resident at Lever Edge Care Home in March 2017, following a 3-week stay in hospital.

Whilst in hospital, and being 96 years old, it became clear to everyone, including mum, that the time was right for her to go into residential care.

We visited over 10 care homes and just when we were about to give up, we came across Lever Edge. We were welcomed by friendly staff, the place looked bright, and everyone seemed happy.

We had two rooms to choose from. After deciding on the one we wanted, we were allowed to customise the room to meet mum's personal taste.

Over the last few months, mum's general health has greatly improved. She's eating better and generally seems contented. For the first time in years, we feel at ease knowing there is always someone there if she needs any help. She's treated with dignity, the staff are wonderful caring people, she chooses what she wants to eat and she loves her own room, it's definitely become home to mum. Thanks to everyone.

We have seen a number of very positive developments here lately. Previously everything was fine, with the Acting Manager doing a wonderful job by covering, whilst doing her own job too, owing to the unfortunate absence, through illness, of the previous manager from November 2016 onwards.

Now, with the new manager is in situ, things have moved on in a very positive way and I am very happy with how my mother is being cared for and integrated. The atmosphere is even better nowadays too. The arrival of a first-rate activities coordinator as well has been a real boon for the home. The coordinator is introducing many activities and special days/events there and taking residents out to the shops and for lunch etc. My mother is totally happy and settled there and is being mentally stimulated regularly by the involvement she has day-to-day.

All the team have a very responsible and demanding job and appear to work well together too.

Thank you very much for your kind comments, we are so happy to hear that your Mother is happy and settled with us.

I feel more entertainment could be done, I know that the person who did this is no longer here, but I feel that it should be put back on for the residents.
