Lever Edge House is a purpose-built care home, created to best compliment a highly skilled team offering excellent residential care. This home also boasts fantastic dementia care.

Carers offer residents and their families the support they need during what many find some of the most trying times of their lives. Families are truly grateful for the personal support they receive, when faced with one of life's very difficult decisions and the team pride themselves on continuing that support to residents and their families from the moment they contact the home throughout the whole of their stay and beyond.

The approach to care is simple - look after the person and not the ailment/condition alone - Carers want to get to know their residents and their families, thus enabling them to look after the whole person and not just to concentrate on the task in hand. Staff get to know their clients, who they are, who they were and how they have come to be at the home.

Carers get to know their families too and like to understand the dynamics within the family setting and how best they can support these as they build a relationship of trust. They understand that choosing a care home is not just about excellent amenities, but about a true and real understanding of relationships being nurtured, trust being built and a life being lived. Professionals believe in true, real and honest care and keep this at the heart of their approach.

The home welcomes long stay residents but also those wanting a shorter stay, perhaps for rehabilitation or convalescence or to build confidence after a fall. Has also offered respite care and support to those suffering from nervous conditions following a break in at their home

Hill Care have are well respected in the North of England for a homely range of care accommodations that incorporate the latest sector technology and recognised good practice.

My dad moved to Lever Edge in October after being in hospital as he needed 24 hour care. Even though he has only been there a few months the care and support he has received has been second to none, they keep me informed all the time about his wellbeing.

Since my grandad moved into Lever Edge, he's practically changed into a completely different man. He looks much better and is socialising with others more than he was before. They've helped him to gain healthy weight and his physical appearance and mental health have also improved massively thanks to
the staff at the home. We cannot fault the home in any way at all.
Reply from Lisa Marton, Manager at Lever EdgeMany thanks for your kind review, we are so pleased to read how happy you are with the care your Granddad is receiving at our home. We will share your review with our staff as they will be delighted. Take Care and Keep Safe.

The staff at Lever Edge have taken really good care of my elderly grandad since his admission earlier this year due to ill health and dementia. He has gained (healthy) weight, and his overall appearance has greatly improved. He has changed so much since being there. The staff have kept us informed of
all the changes to visits with lockdowns etc, to ensure residents are being kept safe during covid. Thank you again to everyone.
Reply from Lisa Martin, Manager at Lever EdgeThank you for your kind review of Lever Edge. It is wonderful to hear how happy you are with the care that your grandad is receiving at our home. We will share the review with our staff team as they will be delighted to read your lovely words. Take care and keep safe.

My mother suffers from Dementia and has been a resident at Lever Edge for a few years, the staff in the Bungalow are amazing with my mum as are all the staff in other sections of the building including the Kitchen staff and cleaners, they always try to put a smile on her face and have a giggle with
her. Due to my mum's dementia she can get aggressive, anxious, shouting out and hits out but the staff are so patient with her and try to talk her round and this can take hours and isn't very pleasant to see or cope with so hats off to them when my mum is in a good place she loves musicals, a laugh, cuddle and this is all provided without hesitation.
I've never had a problem, I'm always kept up to date with her health and wellbeing and know that my mum is treated with respect.
Caring for someone with dementia is not just a job it's so much more and thank all the staff for all the hard work and effort they have put in with my mum and especially at these very hard and uncertain times
Reply from Lisa Martin, Manager at Lever EdgeThank you so much for your kind words. It means so much to us to hear that you are happy with the care that Mum receives at Lever Edge. We will share your review with the staff team who we know will cherish it. Take care and keep safe.

Since my grandfather moved in, we have seen a huge improvement in his happiness and wellbeing. He loves the staff and settled in really well. It's so nice to see him so happy and well cared for. All of our worries about moving him into a care home have gone away after seeing how well cared for he is.
Reply from Lisa Martin, Manager at Lever EdgeThank you for your kind review. It is a pleasure to care for your grandfather, and it's lovely to see how well he has settled with us. We will share your review with the staff team as well. Take care and keep safe.

When my cousin became a resident in December 2019 she had lost interest in everything including eating. Within a matter of weeks she was eating everything, gaining weight and laughing and joking with carers. She said she wanted to stay permanently and this was then arranged. Although we were unable
to visit her during COVID 19 restrictions we were happy to know that she was receiving the best care and was being kept safe from the virus. Although she passed away in August this year - following a stroke - she spent the last few months in a place she loved.
Reply from Lisa Martin, Manager at Lever EdgeThank you so much for your kind words, it was a delight to care for your cousin when she lived at Lever Edge. The team and myself enjoyed many laughs with her and were very saddened by her passing. I will share your kind words with the staff team and send you all of our best wishes. Take care and keep safe.

My dad moved into Lever Edge because he hadn't been able to look after himself at home and wasn't in a good state of health. Since being at Lever Edge he has regained weight, joined in with social activities and begun to enjoy life again.
I'm extremely grateful to all the staff at Lever Edge for keeping
Dad safe during Covid and local lockdown.

My mother-in-law has been in Lever Edge care home going on for four years and has been very well looked after by her key workers and all staff on both departments that she has resided on. Even though she has recently moved into a different area within the home, she has settled in very well. Also, during
these unprecedented times, we have been kept fully up to date on the current situation, which does give peace of mind that she is being given the best of care. Thank you to everyone for the hard work, respect and thoughtfulness that you all give.

My granddad's been in the care home for the last few months (very start of Lockdown!) Since granddad came into Lever Edge, the updates have been fantastic. The involvement with his care and his needs and what as a family we want for him have all been taken into consideration. More recently, the garden
visits have been a blessing as we've been able to catch up with granddad and its meant that my grandma doesn't have to be away from my granddad for too long. The staff are fantastic towards him and have gone above and beyond with our expectations.
Reply from Lisa Martin, Manager at Lever EdgeThank you so much for your very kind review. We're so happy that you are enjoying the garden visits with your Granddad. We will pass on your lovely words to all of the staff team. Take care and Keep Safe.

I have cared for my 94-year-old mother for 12 years but after a fall at home, I knew that it was no longer possible for her to live alone. I visited 16 nursing homes and was begging to think I would never find the right plac4e, I would feel ti, it would be instinct, and this is exactly what happened
when I sat in the reminiscence tea room at Lever Edge. The manager told me about all the fantastic plans and ideas she had as the singing painter walked past in full voice with a resident on his arm and I knew this was the place for mum. Mum settled in immediately, her room is lovely and spacious with her own ensuite. I cannot praise the staff enough, they are kind, caring and have a lot of patience. There are events for families to join in, the summer BBQ was a huge success, and activities and outings. Lever Edge made one of the hardest decisions much easier. Thankk you for looking after mum.

Lever Edge is an amazing care home with compassionate, caring and competent staff. My Mum has been a resident here for just over a year and myself and my Dad can rest in the knowledge that my Mum is very well looked after by the staff; nothing seems too much trouble to them. To Sum it up it is like
a home from home and we can't thank you enough.

I have my Dad in this home. My Dad has settled in this home and the staff are amazing with my Dad. Some staff do go out of their way to make sure my Dad is well looked after, even when they have taken him for a meal to make sure the restaurant has met his needs. I would like to thank all the staff for

We feel the staff are friendly and helpful, however, we feel there could be more activities in the bungalow. We feel the room could be more hygienic as it does smell of urine. We feel it is an expensive home and do expect a standard of care, cleanliness and activities. He is always well dressed and
smart which we appreciate. We feel it is adequate.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.593)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.593) out of 10 for Lever Edge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.593 for Lever Edge is calculated as follows: ( (201 Excellents x 5) + (68 Goods x 4) + (26 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 295 Ratings = 4.593
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lever Edge is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 81 registered maximum number of service users is 16.2, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
