Lever Edge House is a purpose-built care home, created to best compliment a highly skilled team offering excellent residential care. This home also boasts fantastic dementia care.

Carers offer residents and their families the support they need during what many find some of the most trying times of their lives. Families are truly grateful for the personal support they receive, when faced with one of life's very difficult decisions and the team pride themselves on continuing that support to residents and their families from the moment they contact the home throughout the whole of their stay and beyond.

The approach to care is simple - look after the person and not the ailment/condition alone - Carers want to get to know their residents and their families, thus enabling them to look after the whole person and not just to concentrate on the task in hand. Staff get to know their clients, who they are, who they were and how they have come to be at the home.

Carers get to know their families too and like to understand the dynamics within the family setting and how best they can support these as they build a relationship of trust. They understand that choosing a care home is not just about excellent amenities, but about a true and real understanding of relationships being nurtured, trust being built and a life being lived. Professionals believe in true, real and honest care and keep this at the heart of their approach.

The home welcomes long stay residents but also those wanting a shorter stay, perhaps for rehabilitation or convalescence or to build confidence after a fall. Has also offered respite care and support to those suffering from nervous conditions following a break in at their home

Hill Care have are well respected in the North of England for a homely range of care accommodations that incorporate the latest sector technology and recognised good practice.

My 94 year old dad had lived in his own home for over 60 years, after a short spell in hospital he was unable to return home. As a family the decision to move dad into a care home was heart-breaking, how lucky we feel that a place was available at Lever Edge Care home, the amazing staff cared and looked
after dad in a patient and respectful way, as a family we were listened to and made to feel welcome, every member of staff did their best for us all. Sadly Dad passed away but we were able to spend his last week at his bedside day and night and with the help of the care team we got through a very difficult time with some smiles. Amazing caring people doing a very difficult job. Thank You x

After a stroke, Mam spent Christmas and New Year in hospital very confused and angry. Two weeks ago she was deemed fit for discharge. Within 24 hours at Lever Edge, she had seen the hairdresser, was dressed and looked like a brand new woman. Her anger has passed and although she would love to go home,
they are really ensuring her transition is totally supported. I also feel supported and happy with their care and friendly approach.

Friendly, caring and supportive. What more could you ask for? My mum has cared for Grandma for the last six years, cooking, cleaning and making so many sacrifices of her own time. The home has made my mum's life so much easier. Finally, my mum can relax.

There doesn't seem to be enough supervision upstairs on my wife's floor. If she fell nobody comes in to see if she is okay. they would only see when they brought dinner, tea etc.

The staff and management are excellent. My dad has received very good care here. Any concerns are quickly dealt with. I am kept informed as to what is happening with my dad and at the home.
My only concern is that the menu could be a bit more varied eg: more vegetarian options.
I am glad that my
dad is at Lever Edge care home.

The home is very secure all outside doors have keypads. Must do a flow test before entering the home to visit. Staff take you to my wife's room if she is not there they bring her to me. My wife is always clean and tidy, clean clothes, slippers on, hair brushed. There is a hairdresser who comes in and
does my wife's hair and other residents. Her room has an ensuite with a shower. All in all, I think it is the right place for my wife.

My mother was in Lever Edge for just a little over three years.
The care and attention she received from the staff was impeccable.

My mother loved being here and was thoroughly spoiled by the staff always in a lovely environment that also takes into account the residents loved ones and friends.

My

mother sadly passed a few weeks ago, and I will be forever grateful of the fabulous care she received from these guys, and also the love and affection she got before passing.

I really can’t praise the staff from Lever Edge enough. They have supported us as well as my sister through this very difficult time. We have had dealings with the manager, admin, and care staff, and everyone have been supportive, caring, and friendly. They have treated my sister with compassion and
care and always listened to us and are happy to give their time which we have always appreciated. Many thanks from the family to this fantastic team who have made a very difficult time bearable.

Excellent communication between home and family. I know my father-in-law loves his time in the home and it's given him a new lease of life. He is eating better than before and enjoys all the activities including bingo and has made many new friends.

My close friend has been a resident at Lever Edge Care Home for over 10 years after being diagnosed with dementia. In August 2018 she suffered a stroke and was placed on end of life care. Since that time she has been confined to bed and has required round the clock extensive care.
The staff on the
Bungalow section have been amazing and the care that she has received is as good as that provided in a hospice.
During my visits, I have noticed that my friend is always clean and comfortable and despite her poor state of health the carers always treat her with dignity and genuine kindness. It is reassuring to know that she is being cared for in such a compassionate and friendly way.

Some of the staff are very surly and inappropriately suited to this type of job. The home seemed understaffed. At this time wife was left half-dressed for long periods of time. Incontinence pads asked for by home were not delivered to her for twenty-four hours.
Reply from Lisa Martin, Manager at Lever EdgeWe are very sorry to read that you were unhappy with aspects of the time your wife spent at our care home as we always go out of our way to ensure that our residents are cared for to the highest standard. You commented that the home seemed understaffed, however we would like to confirm that our staffing levels are reviewed in order to meet the resident’s needs and our staff receive extensive training in supporting both residents and family members. This notwithstanding, we were encouraged that you gave us 4* for our facilities, activities, cleanliness and food & drink that your wife enjoyed while staying with us. We thank you for your comments which we take very seriously, and we would like to wish you both well .

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.593)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.593) out of 10 for Lever Edge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.593 for Lever Edge is calculated as follows: ( (201 Excellents x 5) + (68 Goods x 4) + (26 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 295 Ratings = 4.593
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lever Edge is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 81 registered maximum number of service users is 16.2, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
