Overall Experience

Our dad spent his last three and a half years at Epworth Grange, until February 2019. During Dad's stay, he was very well cared for and very happy. He enjoyed taking part in the daily activities which were varied and stimulating. As Dad's illness progressed, he needed more assistance which was always given. The staff were so tender and patient with him. Dad enjoyed being taken to the adjacent Methodist Church on Sunday mornings. The home is always kept clean and fresh. The key things we valued at Epworth Grange were compassion, tenderness, kindness, patience and dignity.

Thank you so much for your very kind words. Your Dad is greatly missed at Epworth Grange as he was always the life and soul of so many of the numerous activities that he loved to take part in. He was such a lovely man and a joy to care for.

My mother appears to be happy and is well looked after. She has recently put on weight which means she is eating well now. She enjoys joining in the many activities and despite her dementia seems to be living well here.

Mum has been cared for at Epworth Grange for just over two years. She has flourished with the care given. This is all down to the staff and the way they have involved her with various things, meeting her needs. This is peace of mind for me because I live some distance away. When I have visited I have always found friendliness and a very homely atmosphere. Mum has limited mobility and likes the garden where she can wander safely. Mum tells me what is going on and I feel the residents are extremely lucky to have such a good social life. I am so thankful Mum is in Epworth Grange.

My Mother is 103 years old with dementia, double incontinence and bedridden. I cannot state how well she has been cared for over the 10 years she has been a resident in Epworth. I live in South Wales. The staff phone me frequently to keep me up to date. The staff are very friendly and caring. I will be booking a room for myself.

My dad has exceptional care at Epworth Grange. The staff are compassionate and always responsive to his needs.

They are used to working with people who have enhanced needs due to dementia and they are always patient and supportive to my dad and the whole family.

This is my 2nd review. Dad has stayed a few years now and I still highly recommend Epworth Grange, again mostly due to the amazing staff. Dad experienced tricky times in recent years and Epworth Grange has been supportive and patient, enabling Dad to remain. Dad requires significantly more personal care these days: this is facilitated with dignity. Staff continue to provide options to join in even though Dad is generally reluctant. I have reviewed other homes in case Dad's circumstances change and continue to believe this is by far the best.

More general comments: recently refurbished, though it was good before as well! Tasty and healthy food, I book in for meals too. Knowledgeable and dementia trained staff who understand and remember individual residents' needs and preferences. A range of activities: rescue owls are my favourite. Spotlessly clean and bright rooms with a welcome option to personalise. A friendly, caring and professional home to live in which is noticeable as soon as you arrive at the door.

My mother has settled very well at this care home having moved from another in the area. The staff are always welcoming and helpful. There is always a wide range of activities provided during the week giving the opportunity for companionship and enjoyment. Recent refurbishments and decoration have enhanced the warmth and safety of the home.

I know 3 residents in this care home who I have been visiting for the past 4 years. All my visits are unannounced and I have always been impressed by the way all residents are treated, not just those I am visiting. One of my friends has many possessions and is not the most tidy but she is allowed to keep her room as she wishes - there is nothing 'clinical' about it, although it is kept clean by the staff. People are treated as individuals here - with love, respect and dignity. I would be happy to live here if I needed to!

When members of staff wearing whatever uniforms are able to say "Good Morning" and address my mother with her name, who can largely chat to me and mention any idiosyncratic detail and be fully aware of any little detail which she has mentioned in a conversation, then hope becomes faith and conviction that her social, physical and mental well-being is kept to its best for a mum you love but couldn't maintain with your sister in her own home. The members of staff explore any opportunities to make her days "inclusive" with others both despite and because of her disabilities.

Epworth Grange was the only choice for me to put forward for my mothers care. Having visited a number of homes in the area, Epworth was welcoming and also highly recommended. The home is exceptionally clean and smells fresh every time I visit. My mother has resided here for 7 years now, following her stroke. She is very settled and happy here.

The staff are very attentive to all her needs and the care she receives from everyone in the home is exceptional. Although my mother has difficulty with her speech and memory, she can still point out her favourite staff members.

All in all, the best will only do for my mum, and I have found it at Epworth.

We are happy that our mum is being cared for by such wonderfully supportive, caring and friendly staff. Family and friends have been made to feel 'at home' since day one and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has recently started to join in the organised activities and it has given her a new lease of life. Thank you, Epworth Grange, for helping to make Mum smile again.

The staff at Epworth Grange are kind, friendly and professional and always give my aunt the care she needs while promoting her independence. There is an interesting and varied programme of activities which my aunt is encouraged to participate in if she chooses. The environment indoors and outdoors is well maintained, clean and pleasant. My aunt enjoys the food provided. I am so happy that my aunt is living at Epworth Grange.

My mother was a resident at Epworth Grange for a significant period of time. Unfortunately, she recently passed away at the age of 90.
The care, understanding and compassion shown by all staff at Epworth Grange were, in my opinion, outstanding.
Her 90th birthday was a special occasion for the family and was equally celebrated by staff and other residents of the home.
Chef made a special cake and we all sang Happy Birthday.

This will be my enduring memory of my mother's time at the home and I hope that this level of care and compassion will continue.

The home proved excellent care and showed real concern for my mother and myself during a difficult time. The staff were very kind and professional. The home itself is well appointed and has regular, varied and frequent activities. The rooms are spacious and there are several attractive communal areas. e.g hobbies room, lounge, coffee lounge. In addition the dining facilities are good with residents grouped in "family" sized dining rooms.

My father became resident at Epworth Grange when it had become no longer possible to care for him at home. From the moment he was visited before moving in he was treated by the staff as an individual. As his condition deteriorated and his dementia worsened - despite some difficult behaviours - all the staff were committed to giving him the best care possible looking for ways to stimulate him, provide him with carers he could work with and provide sandwiches at some odd times. Records and care plans were kept in his room so we were always able to keep up to date.

Unfortunately my father died earlier this year. As the end came the staff continued to provide excellent support to him and the family. They were ready to work with a palliative care plan and able to help us understand the process. As the end came staff would sit with him and kept their promise that he would not be alone waiting with him until family arrived.
